Some of my most cherished multiplayer experiences from last gen are from the original Gears of War. The 4 vs. 4 matches were so much fun. They upped it to 5 vs. 5 in Gears 2, but the player count always felt just right for the way Gears is played. Players also seemed to work together as a team more so than when there are dozens of players going around doing their own thing like in other shooters. I love the smaller, more intimate matches, and it seems Titanfall was designed around them.
It's great to see the Xbox One doing so well! So much for all that internet backlash and polls with PS4 getting 90% of the votes. The Xbox One is ahead in North America this week and not too far behind worldwide, despite being available in less than a third as many countries as the PS4, and being $100 more expensive. Microsoft must be really happy with the results.
I can't imagine what would happen if the Xbox One got a price cut to match the PS4.
I too loved reading the instruction manuals, particularly with GTA where they would create a sort of traveler's guide to the game world. On that note, I do find it funny that the author of this blog chose GTA V over The Last of Us as his GOTY because of an instruction booklet, especially considering GTA V is the first game in the series not to include a full-fledged one! They give you a small insert with controls and a link to download a digital manual.
I can connect but I can't access the store. Getting error code -118.
Someone or something does not want No Man's Sky to release. We may be dealing with forces beyond our understanding.
Rockstar is pretty much the last developer I would ever mention on a list of lazy developers. Seriously!
Are you actually comparing GT6 sales (to an install base of 80 million) with Forza 5 sales (to an install base of 2 million)? In that case, I hope GT6 has sold forty time more than Forza 5!
In any case, Gran Turismo always outsells Forza because it is a long-running franchise dating back to the PS1 days! It would sell on name alone, although those sales continue to decrease with every entry in the series (GT6 sold 1/3 of GT5's opening day numbers despite launching to an i...
In its first week, it sold 1/3 of what GT5 managed, despite the PS3 install base having grown 40 MILLION UNITS in the meantime.
It's also the lowest rated main game in the series on Metacritic. I'd definitely say it did not meet expectations.
I still don't know how Rockstar managed to get GTA V running on PS3 and 360. It is the greatest technical marvel of the last generation, for sure. It feels more next gen than anything I've seen on the new consoles, to be honest!
Amen to that! Microsoft should not waste resources on a hopeless cause. Japan is largely irrelevant to any home console's success sales-wise. The PS3 never even broke 10 million sales in Japan, according to VGChartz. It's all about North America and Europe for the XB1 and PS4. Now handhelds in Japan? That's an entirely different story.
Man, Hyrule Warriors looks good! Anyone know when it comes out in theaters?
And still better than 90% of racing games! It's a launch game... It's rushed... No surprise there.
It's completely ridiculous to make sales predictions so early in the generation. Virtually anything could happen in the coming years. No one can accurately predict how things will turn out, not even industry analysts, let alone random Internet fanboys. What you get are predictions like this:

I never had any of these problems. The only issue I ran into was a single freeze on my second playthrough. Aside from that, I found the story gripping and the A.I. reasonably challenging. Very satisfying stealth gameplay with just the right amount of feedback from audio and visual clues. And very engaging combat as well, so I never felt like restarting the checkpoint every time I was spotted, like I would in a Splinter Cell game.
I don't understand the PlayStation community. When VGChartz shows the XB1 kicking the PS4, the website is inaccurate and cannot be taken seriously.
But when it shows good numbers for the PS4, suddenly the website is accurate and is reliable information.
WTF?
This is a phat giveaway.
Congrats Capcom and Guerrilla!
Ryse runs at 900p and looks better than any 1080p game out now. So much for the resolution wars!
GTA V already felt like a next gen title on PS3 and 360. The game is beautiful and richly detailed - a true technical marvel. I wonder what kind of improvements we will see in the XB1 and PS4 versions.
I highly doubt that, considering the Xbox One version has four times as many preorders as the 360 version:
