2011 is looking like an incredible year for all the consoles!
Both SHIPPED 6.3 million consoles. The 360 almost certainly sold more of those units though, since Microsoft reported huge shortages for the entire second half of December. 360s were selling out everywhere because of Kinect.
@Prcko "ps3 gonna outsell xbox thhis year for sure,it's 3 million difference now!"
And 3 months ago, it was a 2.9 million difference. The PS3 has not been able to outsell the 360 since Kinect's release in November, and it appears that this trend will continue well into 2011. If you follow sales trends, you can see that the gap is likely to continue increasing at least for the first half of 2011.
Gears of War won best graphics of 2006.
Gears of War 2 won best graphics of 2008.
And here comes Gears of War 3, blowing us away. It's not surprising at all. Fortunately, Gears of War is extremely strong in the gameplay department, so the insane graphics are only a compliment to an already incredible game. It's not like a certain "zone" where the graphics are all there is to talk about...
The Chinese translation of PlayStation is "overpriced last place movie player".
I doubt it's helping them that much. Killzone 3 is seeing lower preorders than Killzone 2, which only went on to sell around 2.5 million units. Killzone 3 will likely be less of a console seller than its predecessor, which was shrouded in a lot more hype, especially over the graphics. This time around, people don't seem to be falling for the hype as much, and Killzone 3's review scores show that.

I'm glad they recognized L.A. Noire. It's just like RDR all over again. Most people weren't following the game until right before release. No one even recognized it as a GOTY contender early on. I had been following it for months before release, just as I have been L.A. Noire, and RDR went on to be most people's GOTY, as I believe L.A. Noire will too.
This is a very good list, except I would change a couple. Here is my list... some are already released but the...
@DaTruth "Than why is the Ps3 outselling the 360?"
Uh... it's not! And it hasn't for a single week since Kinect's release.
I just have to laugh now thinking back to that article on here suggesting Killzone 3 would be the best FPS of this generation... or was it all-time? Better than Half-Life 2? And here we are one week later with an 86 on Metacritic and dropping. I guess the critics didn't fall for the graphics hype like they did back in 2009.
Americas numbers were just released for the week of Jan 29:
X360: 140,247
Wii: 111,672
DS: 107,146
PS3: 78,129
PSP: 32,543
It looks like any lead the PS3 had in EMEAA was wiped away in one fell swoop. The article should be posted on here soon. In the meantime you can just go to www.VGChartz.com to see for yourself.
Again, VGChartz estimates consoles sold to consumers, while Microsoft and Sony report consoles sold to retailers.
@silvacrest "with kinect, 360 price cut, 360 slim, ps3 still being more expensive and that infamous 500 million advertising campaign, this still happens?"
What still happens? The gap increases?
What still baffles me to this day is how the PS3 is still in last place four years later. After the PlayStation brand having bee...
I thought the demo was pretty decent. I'm going to give this game a chance. But I better not have to pay for another damn online pass, EA!
An 8 to 9 million difference? Holy crap! Kinect only sold 8 million units itself and you thought the 360 would be 8 million units ahead of the PS3? You really don't know much about how sales work.
The shipped gap is now up to 3 million from the previous 2.9 million at the end of September. The actual sold gap is still sitting a bit above 4 million, also up from the previous 3.5 million (?) at the end of September.
The 360 is also being plagued with some intense shortages right now; apparently the 360 was in very short supply for the entire second half of December. Once Microsoft gets the supply issues sorted out, I believe the gap will continue to increase, albeit slow...
Decent article. Here are my three favorites of 2010:
1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Fallout: New Vegas
3. Mafia II
It's still all about the graphics? Ugh...
@DualConsoleOwner "all those matter very little. PS3 does have better exclusives. and i am using meta and gameranking review scores here. Every 2 AAA title, there is one AAA exclusive."
I decided to take a look at the highest rated PS3 games on Metacritic to see if you were right. I found that out of the 20 highest rated games, only 4 were exclusives (Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, GOW3). That is far less than one exclusive out of every two titles, but 1/5.
@Eu "what you're calling mommentum is MS desperate attempt to keep X360 afloat after a whole year selling worst than the PS3."
Microsoft's desperate attempt was releasing Kinect? What are you on about? Hey, what was Sony's $100 price drop in 2009 after a year of being outsold by the 360? A desperate attempt to keep the PS3 afloat?
Was doing a test to see how biased the users of this site really are. A little late to the comments section for it to work well, but I believe the 31 Agrees for a comment like that are absolutely outrageous enough by themselves. If I had posted earlier on though, I'm sure I would have gotten the same number of Agrees and Disagrees as him, except reversed.
