I think Bungie wanted to go out with a bang, and they certainly have. While 'some' gamers will state it's nothing more than an average FPS, the fact is, it was the shooter that started FPS on the console, and thus, has attracted a huge following, that remains 10 years later - without any major drop or decline in its followers.

Not many console games can say that.

There are two generation of gamers these days that really don't care all that much what a game is, they buy them to keep up with their mates and to be "the one" and then get rid of them just as fast as they got them.

Which certainly does not entice major developers to sink 20-40mil into new IP (and more actually for new IP's), so it's little wonder there's no real advances in the designs of games these days.

It simply doesn't pay...

Or kinect, but I believe it does work with MS's tabletop software, as I saw something very similar at a MS event earlier in the year here in Australia.

The video does look appealing, but having had a little bash at it, it seems exceptionally quick in its pacing.

There certainly hasn't been a great deal of push for it before or after release. Unlike earlier on when it was announced.

And to those that say you can't fit much on the DVD9's here's the proof that you can when you code correctly and use your brains instead of trying to show off on how big you can make a game.

You only have to look at The Orange Box by Valve to see that a great deal can be squeezed onto one of the discs, with still room to spare.

I think the next few days, 80% or more XboxLive users will be Halo-bound.

I think Bungie have said goodbye in a great way with this, the last real iteration of the Halo franchise as we knew it.

WHile it certainly won't be the end of the franchise per-se, it will be the end as we have known it over the last 10 yrs.

It certainly is going to boost online figures for both Bungioe and MS Live, that is for sure. But it will be interesting to see where Microsoft takes it in a year or two from now.

Funny, Idon't see you volunteering to write a proper review for a site . . .OXCGN is actually having a small initiative right now ( http://oxcgn.com/2010/09/11... looking for those who 'think' they can write a cohesive article or review.

If you think you can do better, then we'd love to have a submission from you . . . (open to anyone willing to put...

Old Skool Gaming hmmm, while it brings back memories, I'm not sure I'm ready to go back that far now after being spoilt on the current range of games available.

But each to their own as they say.

They're much better in the flesh, we got to chat with some at E3 . . there was some line-up at the 2K Mafia II public booth, that was for sure . . . . plus it's done more in the era of that time so it was very 'tastefully' done actually

Personally I like the game a lot. Having played it at several pre-release events, and at E3 this year, I felt it had grown a great deal.

If ppl are expecting a GTA 4 or similar, then they will be disappointed, as this IS story driven rather than just having you wandering around an open world.

You still have plenty of freedom, and the story is compelling, and I like the fact the tutorial is based around Vito's time in the army overseas in Italy, makes much...

ahh yes, opinions are one thing, and easy to throw around, but turning those into viable articles is another thing altogether mate.

We welcome ppl who have something to say, or have been following us over the last 3 years and believe OXCGN is more than just a site seeking views. SO please do come over, write us something that concerns us all with regards to gaming, as we'd love to have you contributing to the gaming voice on the net . . .

And I don't own a PS3, yet, but I'm still buying GT 5 when it ships later this year, so that I have it when I do manage to get a PS3. As I'd also love to have Heavy Rain, and several other great titles only on the PS3.

But each person has their own financial limits, so not everyone can simply buy what they want when they want them, and having one platform might be all they can afford.

That does not make them a fanboy, or less of a gamer, it simply...

I suppose it comes down to the publisher (not the developers, they just make the games under the direction of the publisher remember) and how their marketing guys want to work it.

They certainly have limited numbers of keys, as at times, we can only get 1 or 2 if that sometimes, if at all. The marketing deptartments run a different ship, and dictated by what the publisher can supply, and also as to have the developer wants to test its servers etc.

They may ha...

Like we've said time and time again. While OXCGN is a Xbox-Centric site, it is run by 'gamers' not fanboys, and we support 'gaming' as a whole. We simply chose the Xbox platform as our 'main' platform for our own reasons, not because we think it's the best thing in the world, which it certainly is not.

If you check through the site, you'll find lots of We Steal It For The 360 articles where we review great PS3 games as well as hanker after ...

Much better than the standard Multiplayer which is usually 'tacked on' to so many games these days. It's something that I'd be interested in actually, as it seems to have much more viability than the normal Multiplayer. Shame I don't have a PS3 - bugger. And the Beta Keys are FREE . .

It's more a simple giveaway than a comp per-se guys. Ubi simply gave us some PS3 keys, and we just want to pass them onto gamers . . . .

Old farts as you call them, are the guys making the games for YOU.

The guys that run most of the major publishing houses are "old farts", so I'd be careful about being age discrimative . . . Ask yourself, how old are the heads of Ubisoft, Rockstar, THQ, Valve, EA, etc etc etc . . . . all basically grew up with those older singleplayer games, yet still make and play BOTH styles - yet are considered "Old Farts" . .

With regards of the po...

Sports fans want their games to be a close facsimile of the real life counterpart, so I hope it does sell enough for them to look at the second iteration in order to improve it.

I agree with you in regards to not forcing ones opinions down anothers throat, and being able to express one's self without the fear or reprisal is what freedom of speach is about.

But it is a sad fact that many ppl on such forums/boards do take the liberty to push and shove their thoughts on others.

Single Player games were the backbone of games from the origin of gaming, it still holds over 50% of the gaming public across all manner of styles of games, ...

The figures have shown that 50 - 55% of game console owners do NOT play multiplayer games on a regular bases, and that 45% of them do not play MP games at all, and opt out of the Gamescores/trophies for the sections of games that require the MP or internet to achieve those achievements.

Which sort of speaks for its self really.

Also, a similar number of console purchasers do not play MP segments of the games at all, opting to simply play the career modes and ...

WHy pass a decent enough comment, valid one as it is, yet "report" the article as "lame" . . . . you should know better, you've been here long enough, just like I have (2007 as well).
