Publoishers are pushing their developers to make Multiplayer only content via DLC to boost re-sales of older games, and dropping Singleplayer content.
Yet they forget that close to 50% of console owners do NOT have a solid broadband connection, nor wish to play online, but want expansions to their games.
If the Publishers wanted to help gamers maintain their ownership of existing games, rather than have them end up in -pre-owned bins like they are atm, then ...
Personally I see a worrying series of events happening over the last few years, especially in the last 18 months.
That is, the move from supplying fully expandable add-on packages, to ones that only support online multiplayer ad-ons.
Most new sequels are heavily featured towards multiplayer, at the expense of single player.Just look at the great Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam Pack.
As we know, the games today get played and returned via ...
it seems to be going that way with many games - of late. Sad actually, it will be interesting to see how many of the new IP's will go in 2011
Finally, a great XBLA game worth grabbing, . . . . with the new engine and graphics, which look stunning btw, this will be a welcomed addition to any pinball-wizard's collection.
I agree with the lower board rating for younger gamers, we need more of them, as this is a perfect example of what can be achieved, without the added adult gore and or over-the-top violence.
It's a fun-filled typical Bond game, packed with lots of explosions and such-like, perfect for all audiences really.
Of course 'hard-core' gamers will bitch-n-moan, as they always do unless something is perfect, which nothing is of course, but get past that, ...
bit of reverse advertizing . . .the woman's dominant he he heh sometimes i just wish i could work for a pr company . . . bugger .:-(
Sorry, never been a fan of this sport,be it real or virtual. but for those who do love it, perhaps this years iteration is not the best thus far . . ?
Well, some games are just based around gore and blood, look at Gears Of War, not much story in there to be honest, as most players are simply interested in lopping heads off with the chainsaw, same as in Dead Rising franchise. Blood-n-gore sells . . .
Just like Zombies do these days.
Have you seen the Codex one yet, boy has that thing got heaps in it when you compare the two.
We should have one of those to show off soon, hopefully, so if we do, we'll run the two side by side to compare what you get for your $$.
Some gear is great, others is mediocure at best . . . . This looks 'interesting' (as the writer states), but as a collector, it wouldn't matter really, so long as you had one.
Many publishers are putting large sums behind their games, but sometimes the odd ones get a large budget, and more viable ones get smaller budgets.
Not sure about the game its self, but the gear sure interests my son, that's for sure . . .
Yep, looks like it's 'move overt Master Chief' . . Time for CoD to don the space Suits and be the bad asse Space Marine Corps.
I certainly hope not, but did see mention of it in a fleeting snipping in a interview over last few days.
I think there's 'talk' of CoD heading to Space in the next iteration????
Love the game thus far, and still think both Black Ops and Medal of Honor offer FPS gamers a wide variety of styles and gameplay.
Not keen on the Zombie side of things with many games these days, so will give that side of it a big miss.
Perhaps, but as the reviewer [points out, the game can be played through in about 4-5 hrs, on casual, bt bump it up to hard, or even higher, and then you're talking another languge. A significant longer game, as dieing is common on those upper levels.
Question really is, would gamers play it on such higher levels and face getting killed so much, or simply run through it on casual to say they beat the game in X hrs etc.
I remember one guy said he could fin...
Thanks god there's no Zombies in it, but I bet that because there's no Multiplayer component, many will not be drawn to it.
Seems many gamers are not that interested in a game per-se, but simply an excuse to get online with others to slaughter opponents, irrespective of the title.
Shame really, as there's a great deal that goes into producing a Singleplayer game. Perhaps all developers should just abandon all SP games, and just put out MP games ba...
I'm not the social gamer, so the current game line-up is not mt style, but I do see the huge potential this has, as does Move for its audience.
With Wii's drop in popularity over the last 6 months, while still selling strong, it is slipping, these two new kids on the block could just rather nicely this holiday season.
The games were all pre-release, and given to him about 6-4 weeks prior to launch, so I'd say most were pre-release code.
I've heard good things about the other games, with some getting more praise than I thought or expected, which is good.
I suppose it depends on what you want out of these styles of games. As the reviewer points out, they are more for the family, and those simply looking for some fun with friends in the lounge room etc, rather than those who are used to gaming.
They are a much hard group to satisfy - sadly.
Personally I don't see it as being a confusing storyline, rather a very lengthy one spread over centuries, one that even exists today in modern times in the heart of the USA, Washington and the great leads of the world.
I personally would love to see Ubi and their movie company that produced the Linage short film, make a full blown trilogy much like Lord Of The Rings, which would go close to expanding what the story 'could' be.
Well the movies not all that good anyway, so it was doubtful the game would be better.
Shame, as the original movie was great.
