I just want some Single Player add-ons please . . . sure, Multiplayer stuff is all well and good, but there's a huge market out there that buys games, keeps them, and play the heck out of them on Single player mode, and love to have more content.

There's more than enough evidence to show Single Player content SELLS.

Disagree completely, it's not just Americans, it's humans in general, and their inability to control the current two-three generations of offspring, which has created a very laxidasial society, that will take several more generations to rectify, but it is on the mend.

Agree, to some extent. After questioning many parents, who buy the games for their kids in stores (60% of sales of games in stores are to mothers, followed closely by dads) I found that close to 80% of those questioned knew nothing of the games really, and simply followed what their kids recomened, if thier friends were playing the same game.

Here in Aust as an example, the highest a game rates is MA15+, meaning that the games that appear in Europe and Nth America that are r...

You and 'gamers' might like it, but FOX etc are selling the 'bad news' to ill-informed, or basically, un-informed TV viewers in order to rank up views, thus help ad income based on views across the board for the station.

Remember - what YOU think and what Joe-Public think are two completely different things, and that IS what FOX rely on. They are NOT trying to sell the story to you or I, but to mum/dad public who could sway politicians to change laws.

Two major players own 80% of all gaming media, Murdock Press, and Packer, who also own the majority of other media outlets across all mediums.

WHich is why most smaller sites are not included in the long list of gaming sites that belong to "Affiliate Sites" Which this is one of them.

Sadly, many sites sell-up in order to continue, and to make money, which we ideally are all in 'business' in the first place.

But some sell the...

@ jeeves86,

Appreciated, but whomever put the title up 'here' (n4g), 'added' the "An Xbox Sites View", as that is NOT the title of the actual article, (The Metal Gear Solid Series - We look at what it did right)

Which obviously was 'missed' by those that approved it here on n4g!, where headings 'must' remain as published originally from the 'source', not changed by those submitting or those creating the story ...

Agreed, although, I can bet a wage on the fact that many will not like the new Dues Ex: Human Revolution, simply because it changes the mould of what-was, to something more appropriate for modern times.

Many gamers ask for innovation, change, new ideas, new IP's . .yet when given them, they balk at them because - well - things have - changed (dahhh).

Fickled gamers are.

Err umm, where actually 'is' the word Xbox in "OXCGN . . . Breathing Life into Gaming".

Sure, we use the colours and follow the platform, but we do other platforms, we're not 'specifically' xbox only.

We get support from Sony, and we're invited to attend Sony, Nintendo etc events, as well as MS.

We've been on N4G since its change in 2007, and always supported multiple pl...

OXCGN is a GAMING site, not just an xbox site, read the bi-line. "OXCGN - Breathing Life Into Gaming".

It's just that the majority of members choose the Xbox platform as their platform of choice, but also have several platforms that they use.

OXCGN reviews PS3, PSP, Wii, iPhone, PC etc games . .

The one thing OXCGN is not, that is a fanboy site.

Please do check out their Steal It section, a tounge-in-cheek loo...

We actually went to the release of MGS4 in Sydney at a major cinema complex, and it was definitely like a movie, even with the small gameplay sections.

That didn't take away from the game though, and while the movie segments were exhausting, the game was great, I think we gave it a 9.8/10 when we reviewed it.

Actually, it is mentioned in the article as to what to expect from the Limited Edition of the game, you'll get the maps and other stuff, incl vehicles etc, but only with pre-orders. Check the article out in total, it's mentioned towards the end.

Games, by their very nature are 'repetitive, there's no such thing as a non-repetitive game . . . . mechanics are often repeated throughout a game.

It's how they are used within the gameplay that matter.

Are you Nth America, Europe or Australasia?

As I would imagine that restrictions to fit within certain rules could have something to do with such things of course.

I agree with the over-the-top cursing.

It's not needed, nor warranted really, as it certainly doesn't ad to the gameplay nor enjoyment.

It seems that in some quarters, swearing or continued cussing is a mark of respect, when in fact, most ppl, that's the majority of the world, see it as a sign of imaturity . . . funny that.

There's nothing wrong with that, as most games look at other titles to see how they could better or match them.

It's the nature of business and competition.

Besides, these days, with the consumer market so off-hand with new IP's being 'different', meaning they do NOT take them on board, then it's wise to stay within 'known' boundaries, within reason.

Epic is simply wanting expand its gaming portfolio, and demor...

True, they do look odd, but why would a company re-submit pattens now, if they weren't planning 'something' - it costs to submit pattens I believe?

Why won't SEGA return? . . .

If we're facing tough times for publishers, they are welcoming more platforms, hense the huge jump by the major players for Apple at the moment.

The more platforms, the more possible customers. It doesn't mean we all have to have the same means of playing games, it simply offers more choice for the consumer.

5536d ago 3 agree7 disagreeView comment

Well we have Apple approaching the gaming platform now from a mon-mobile area, so the talk of 4 platforms (or more) is mute really.

Apple have been working their way into the field (in-home-gaming) for some time, and it wouldn't surprise me if their next iTV doesn't have a gaming functionality included, using iTunes as its distribution mode.

SO Sega could well jump into the fray, but they would have to do a LOT better than the current field, as even P...

Many developers now are almost forced into including a Multip[layer aspect into their games.

The last few fgeneration of gamers expect a MP aspect to all their games, and it seems pay little attention to the 'Story Mode or even Caree Mode' in most game, opting to jump straight into the MP side of things.

For the developers, via their respective publishers, that chose not to include it, then they are effectively cutting themselves off from a huge marke...

There is a great deal, but the major stumbling block is - gamers!

Their inability of late (last two generations) to accept new IP, the lack of willingness to try new features, the inability to look past Multiplayer, and their over the top expectations force many developers, through their publishers, to go the easy, tried and true route and stay with known entities and genre styles.

The gamer today expects every game to have a 8/10 score without exception, and...
