Fortnite generates tons of revenue but probably not as much profit. At least I imagine that those collabs that have been pushing the game for the last couple of years are not cheap.

Then we have all the other fronts where they spend money willy-nilly. They made a bunch of acquisitions, paid millions for PC exclusivity of some games, paid for those free EGS games, lost revenue on EGS coupons, lost money on lawsuits and offered a bunch of grants as well.

That is the issue with yearly releases. There is no way a company could manage that and create original and innovative content for each entry. It's a pretty much mutually exclusive situation. And why this cancellations and cuts just sucks. Now TW is literally everything this studio has but with less budget and likely fewer people to work on each entry.

So if you thought their last releases were sloppy or lazy. I would expect that to get even worse and then I would be s...

That is an odd choice, to say the least. I do wonder if Sony will comment on that because the picture painted by Gaming Heads here is not a pretty one.

That is really sad. Not only cancelling Hyenas, but the other unannounced game and cutting funds yet again for Creative Assembly. This would be the first time in a decade that Sega let those guys do something other than the Total War series and the last time this happened, Creative Assembly delivered one of the best horror experiences out there in the form of ALIEN: ISOLATION.

I get that profitability is low. But maybe it's because Creative Assembly has been stuck putti...

@Angyobangyo

Yeah, because "offensive" is the word that comes to mind when discussing war crimes.

WTF is wrong with you?

Then what are the features that a "pro" controller needs? From my point of view, a "pro" controller has to be able to do exactly the same things as a normal controller in a reliable manner + be customizable. Is not exactly hard and if a "pro" is not going to use those features, then just turn it off. But the value proposition has to be there otherwise is a product that is passing itself as "pro" selling basic shit like hall sensors and 10hr battery as s...

Those are different segments though. A native handheld on the veins of an Ally or Steam Deck is a completely different beast than a streaming handheld this article mentions. And yes, I agree that for a native handheld, there would be a lot of things that Microsoft could do, the most basically being to make it an Xbox rather than a Windows machine which would give it a much more optimized experience very close to the Steam Deck UI, but without the issues that comes with Proton.

The point is I don't get what is exactly on the mind of that "pro controller enthusiast" when their "pro" controller doesn't even have parity with a normal controller. And the rest of the features are stuff that you can get on normal controllers on other platformers for much less. Like being impressed by Hall sensors and a 10-hour battery is just sad. You can find a $70 controller available for Switch and PC that also features those, back buttons and customization....

I dig the vibes and the overall aesthetics. Shame it appears to be yet another run-and-hide horror game.

I really don't get why anyone would bother with a pro controller by a third party for the PS5. Because they all share the same issue, they don't have the features that are exclusive to the Dualsense. And when you are paying more than $200 for a controller and it can't even do parity with a $70 one, you more or less don't have a reason to bother.

The Switch and the Xbox use more commonly found features. So a pro controller by Nacon or however, might make sen...

Valve so far has basically blocked two types of content. Sexual violence-focused games and sexualization of minors or "minor-looking characters". From the article it doesn't appear that this particular game falls into either category, yes, it has a sexual violence scene, but it doesn't appear to be the focus of it.

So it would be something new if it does indeed get blocked.

I honestly think that from the point of view of tech, now is probably the best time ever to do something native. Because the advancements that AMD made with their APUs make them really close to a parity state with the home consoles. Meaning that neither Sony nor Microsoft would have to create completely different teams with different tools and APIs to create content for them. It would just be another SKU with a different target.

What is harder to justify is the market. Righ...

Hopefully, yes.

My main issue with Outer Worlds was that they made the world way too compact, so anything that you discovered by yourself would just link to a main or side quest that would bring you back to that place that you "discovered". Sort of nullifying the sense of exploration. Combat and customization were also very weak and there was no space.

Starfield suffers from the opposite issue, the most interesting places to visit in that univ...

The thing is those already exist. You can buy a Logitech G-Cloud, Abxylute, Razer Edge, Retroid Pocket Flip, and Portal by Pimax (yes, Sony named their "handheld" the same as another handheld that is already on the market). And they will work exactly like we could expect this Microsoft streaming handheld to work. They also come in many different prices and are usable for more than just streaming.

880d ago 4 agree1 disagreeView comment

Unlikely, Sony's attempt at a streaming handheld is a very specific one. It's not a handheld, it's a controller with a display that needs a PS5 main unit to function. That is completely the opposite of what Microsft is doing with Gamepass which is making it available as a solo service in as many products as possible. So if they were to really release a handheld it would be much more similar to other more traditional devices like the Logitech G-Cloud and the Abxylute.

It sort of gave me Destruction AllStars or Exoprimal vibes. Like an interesting concept that will probably not work as well as it should because of an external factor. In this case the exclusivity.

Well, you are on N4G and this is an Xbox exclusive. So you will, by default see much more negativity than in other places. Just by the sheer number of PS fanboys that use this place.

Go to any other major gaming forum and the discussion is much more tame. This mod is a perfect example, being called "fixing" here but in reality, it is one of those mods that if anything proves why that particular feature is not in the base game. It crashes terribly with the sheer s...

Shouldn't trust articles either.

This one is based on the steamDB data and it's specifically about the Bethesda Game Studios games, but it's specifically about "main" versions. And why does that matter?

Well because if it was Bethesda as a whole, they would have to consider both Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, the latter being mostly commonly seen as the publisher. But it's also listed as the developer for some ke...

Fast Charging adds a lot of cost; you need a much more expensive controller to guarantee power delivery. You also expend much more on the power brick itself, the cable and you add a lot of heat that has to be taken out of the device somehow. Plus you don't really fix the issue, the low battery life itself is still there.

Better display is something that I believe everyone agrees could be accomplished with little compromise. It would add something to the cost, but it'...
