@shinoff2183
Exactly the opposite. It is a lot because we are looking at the bigger picture.
People just appear to have a really hard time understanding what concurrent means. That is not sales, that is not a total number of people. That is just the peak amount of players that were playing it a the same time on a given point.
Again to give an idea of what we are talking about. Fortnite has estimated (activeplayer.io) that this past month an ave...
That is concurrent players thought. That means that at some point there were 1 million people playing this single-player game exactly at the same time. Which is a lot.
To put into perspective, the most successful single-player game by concurrent players on Steam is Cyberpunk 2077 and it pulled a bit over 1M as well (1.05M). And 1M is also more than double what their previous game, Fallout 4, pulled on the platform. And to give further perspective even with GP eating sales, ...
The original pricing was indeed an issue, but not the major one. That would go for its longevity, the 128-bit memory interface will likely make sure that it ages like fine milk.
On the other hand, AMD's new offerings are also odd. The leaked benchmarks put the RX 7800 XT in a similar ballpark as the previous RX 6800 XT, just more efficient and a bit cheaper (MSRP) but for $100 less it just has amazing value over the RTX 4070. Whereas the RX 7700 XT is a good choice ove...
Well, he does more than only Bethesda titles. His offerings include stuff from EA, Rockstar, FromSoftware and even Sony. And the Patreon is to access all of that.
Still a lot of money though. More than what many emulators get, for example.
It's very possible that they are struggling with Series S. Not because their game is complex or anything like that. But because so far it looks basically like an asset flip running on UE5. And if real games running with that engine can run as low as 480p on the Series S (and below 800p on the "big boy" consoles) something done by just slapping a bunch of assets together will likely run even worse.
Man, it honestly makes me really sad to see these people defen...
I'm pretty sure it is f2p.
The issue is more on the licensing part. We have a Chinese clone that uses a 2280 NVme as the base from Reletech. It does look a bit weird popping out from the back of the console, but they apparently work very well.
Wouldn't be surprised if Sony have a partnership with this game, just like they did with GI and a bunch of other Chinese Projects. But putting that aside, the animations do look very close to what Isommanic did on their take on Spiderman, but to be fair that is all derived work as well. And the characters are the go-to if to base any sort of web/hook traversal system.
What I'm more concerned about is the monetization. Not because it's a Gacha, Mihoyo has proved...
"the mentality of devs who want to push boundaries."
Where are those developers? Like, unless you are a bootlicker.
I find it really unlikely that you are impressed by anything third parties have released on these consoles so far.
The developers that are against the Series S aren't because they want to push boundaries. They just don't want to have extra work to optimize their games. Because let's face it, if the Series S is ...
@Christopher
Performance modes that are needed to reach the bare minimum of 60 fps... But sure, let me humour your point:
" ...saw two UE5 non-crossgen titles that run below 900p native on the Series X and PS5 or still lacking 1200p native if you don't mind also having to deal with ghosting-inducing 30fps.".
Well, the good news is that their new headsets are probably going to be much better given how well Audeze is regarded. But it is a weird purchase, given that Sony is already a leader in the audio industry. So they could very well just apply their own knowledge and tech to improve their lousy gaming headsets instead of buying a competitor.
@Outside_ofthe_Box
But that is the point. Back then, it was a valid thought process. We saw how well some games were being optimized by the end of the previous gen. So it stood to reason that developers would continue to offer that level of quality in their titles and extract blood from rocks. That didn't happen though, partially because now there are tools that allow developers to really not give a fuck.
Just this past month we saw two UE5 non-cross...
I mean things did change between those comments. And having faith in developers now is a very bad idea as we are seeing that they will use every single crutch that is available to them unrestricted. This for the consumer means that we better be happy when a game runs at 900p native on what is supposedly to be a 4K machine because we are seeing releases that can't even manage that. So just imagine if they had more powerful hardware to target, the little optimization that is being done woul...
I agree if the idea is that this PS Link allows for lower latency that is cool. But it doesn't mean that couldn't also support BT. Especially when there are low-latency BT codecs available as well.
Still, I'm really interested in the new headsets. Not only because of this proprietary connection but also because their previous models were pretty mediocre, so I'm hoping they will live up to Sony's legacy as a major audio manufacturer and deliver something...
Well, clearly it will not be in this gen. If games continue to be released like this. But that is kind of the problem if the engine that was built and teased for this generation is just too demanding for it. Just like @Lightning77 put it. What is really the point of this gen?
Yes, a PRO will definitely help alleviate the issue. But the reality is we are already 60M consoles into this generation. And there aren't really that many current-gen games in the market. And if ...
Honestly, I don't like EGS. Find their store pretty crap and the development on it has been extremely slow. And they are definitely not on the side of consumers. But, I have to respect the willingness to burn money as well as how sly they are.
What this program will try to achieve is simple. It will take off the burden of exclusivity deal from them. Now is an opt-in program, meaning that they didn't really reach out to any companies for exclusivities so they can be...
The way I see it what Sony is trying to make is a "normie" version of products that already exist but are niche. Stuff like the Logitech G-Cloud or the Abxylute are already dedicated streaming machines that can do the same and much more. Phones/Tablets with controllers, and Android handhelds by companies like Retroid, Anbernic, Powkiddy, Odroid, Ayn etc. All can do the same and more. Even Windows handhelds and the Steam Deck can also do that.
But what those device...
Yeap and the issue is exacerbated by the current consolidation of the engine market, where most studios prefer to license Unreal instead of developing their own in-house tools.
A bit expensive for what it is. But definitely an interesting collector piece.
I wish they made those controllers USB, though.
@Redemption-64
Or you could actually read. And see that I never said it was a 1:1 comparison, it was to give a perspective of what values we are talking about when we are talking about concurrent players on a single-player title. Cyberpunk is an extremely interesting point of reference as we know a lot about how it performed, we also know that between Xbox and PC, it sold around 10M units or 72% of the total sales of the game. PC is responsible for around 77% of that value....
