Stop acting like a fanboy. If not for your own self-respect, at least do it out of respect for your mother, who carried you for nine months. She definitely didn't go through that just for you to be a pawn for a major corporation.

Youtube like/dislike ratio is also at a 63% dislike at the moment.

I wouldn't be so sure. Based on the 2023 leak, the PS4 Pro sold around 15 million units.

To put that into perspective, at that time the regular PS4 was at around 90 million units. This means that the PS4 Pro accounted for less than 15% of the total PS4 sales. And the PS4 Pro had one major difference compared to the PS5 Pro: it was sold for USD $399, the exact same price as the base PS4 at launch.

So, while it will sell to those hardcore fans and depen...

I would argue that it's a bit worse than the Xbox One X case because a couple of the games they showed were cross-gen titles. The Last of Us Part II, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7 are all games that run on 11-year-old hardware. It's cool that they look better now, but that is hardly impressive.

Yeah, that's rough.

$700 for the console + $80 for the disc drive + $30 for the stand (assuming it's the same price as the Slim).

That makes it around $870 after tax.

For sure, at this point, I would be surprised if the PS5 itself isn't sold at a profit, even if it's not a large one. But the Portal is in a different category altogether. The brains of that machine is an SD662, a 'mid-tier' SoC from 2020, so it's super cheap. The screen is a basic Full HD 60Hz IPS, with no fancy tech like adaptive refresh rate. The Wi-Fi module is a standard 5GHz one, and the controllers are just repurposed Dual...

Yeah, but we have to remember that they're made of extremely cheap and outdated parts and sold for $200. So, even accounting for logistics and the retail cut, I wouldn't be surprised if the profit margin per unit is high, likely even the highest among all their products.

The PSVR2, on the other hand, was at best sold at cost and most likely at a loss.

The "leak" points to RDNA 3 with features of the RDNA 4. Just like the current PS5 is RDNA 1 with features of the RDNA 2. Those are custom solutions, so not exactly a 1 to 1 comparsion albeit super close at points.

Also it would be quite unlikely that AMD would showcase their full RDNA 4 on a console. Not the best showcase for that kind of product.

I mean, yes, it wears its inspiration like a medal. And that is good; we need more games like that, games that focus on the execution and to it really well.

Brain fart.

What I meant was an "RX 7800" or a downclocked RX 7800 XT. Performance-wise, it should be in the ballpark of an RX 7700 XT, similar to how the PS4 Pro was an RX 480 with performance capped at RX 470 levels. The remaining question is price. I imagine they will only sell it without the drive to maximize profit—it should be compatible with the Slim drive. But even accounting for that, I'm expecting something close to $699 after tax.

Honestly, I have zero sympathy for those people. They should be banned for this crap of region-hopping that has quite literally destroyed the regional markets of the less affluent regions.

I mean we all know it's coming.

I'm looking foward for the price, cause unless Sony surprise everyone with a more powerful device, it should have a "RX7700" aka a RX7700 XT under downclock.

I think it’s because the main version is designed for PC. Converting it to Xbox is relatively straightforward, but getting it to work as well on the PS5 takes a lot more effort, which might be beyond their budget and timeline.

It’s similar to what happens with many third-party games that run better on PS5. Porting them to Xbox becomes more challenging, which often lead to the Xbox version performing worse than it should, and the PC version being more broken.

@ArmrdChaos

That’s likely how they would approach a song they care about having in the game and truly need—something that might play at a crucial moment in the story, like "Holding Out for a Hero" in the final mission of Saints Row 3.

But for a song that just plays on the radio, they probably don't give a f*ck. So, a take-it-or-leave-it approach is what those artists will get.

I think the issue with Helldivers 2 is that the developers have a cool idea: a futuristic dystopia where life is cheap, and the divers are just cannon fodder meant to die repeatedly. The whole point of their existence is to die—there are no heroes, and any hope is completely fake.

It's a really cool concept, but the problem starts when you try to translate that into a game. How do you make cannon fodder have fun being cannon fodder? I honestly have no idea, but I don...

I don't know if I would necessarily call it a bad deal. This is a song from '86, and the band isn't that well-known these days. Their YouTube channel has less than 10k subscribers, and the song itself has a bit less than 7 million views.

The guy jokes about being paid in "exposure," but honestly, that's a meme until it isn't. GTA VI will likely be one of the best-selling games of this generation, not to mention the tens of millions of people wh...

No they wouldn't. That is the whole point of software emulation.

Or do you think something like the Steam Deck has a secret Cell ship tucked there somewhere to be able to emulate PS3 titles?

642d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Emulation is a viable option, and Sony could have easily implemented it since they have all the documentation of the original console. Plus, the PS5 is powerful enough to handle it. They chose not to do it simply because they weren't interested.

It would be super funny, given that a good chunk of Switch games are repurposed Wii U games, and they even ask for more money than the original versions were sold for. If that happened again, it would be so comical—just imagine a New Super Mario Bros. Wii U Deluxe Plus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Ultra, Bayonetta 2 Once Again, etc.

This looks great.
Really good to see this series revived in such a way.
