Honestly, I want plates. I really liked the original Xbox 360 faceplates, and I see even more potential with the PS5 plates. But so far, Sony doesn't seem too interested in that. We had the Spider-Man special edition, which wasn't sold separately from the console, and that was basically it in terms of their own game-themed plates.

90% is ridiculously high. I honestly wouldn't blame them if they decided to go fully digital. I still mostly buy physical copies for the PS5, but for Capcom games, I usually opt for the PC version, so my library is completely digital, so I can sort of understand why is so high. But still.

@lodossrage

I find it really concerning that you cannot see the way you behave. When you are literally trying to dictate what a review should be about and disregarding anything else as invalid and a "problem".

I've told you before, and I will tell you again: You are not the arbiter of anything. Your opinion is not a fact, and you are not the one to say what constitutes a problem or not. You are just somebody who thinks too highly of themsel...

@lodossrage

You are not the arbiter of what constitutes a legitimate gripe, nor are you the one who can determine what has a impact on a given game's quality.

But thank you for showcasing exactly the kind of behavior I was talking about.

Unfortunately, those same fanboys, or better yet, the cattle, will actually side with the publishers because, in their narrow minds, if it's a problem that they don't particularly agree with, then it's not a justified action by consumers.

It's truly disheartening how actively anti-consumer this breed of consumer can be, completely manipulated by corporations yet staunchly defending them.

It's sort of impressive how they manage to pull it off. This generation seems to be the worst for Sony in terms of output, with fewer games being developed and released than in any previous console generation. It should have been the perfect opportunity for Microsoft to gain market share through partnerships and game development with their numerous studios. Instead, they have somehow managed to perform even worse.

At this point, one has to wonder if they are intentional...

It's a curve of sales over time. Currently, within the same timeframe, Xbox Series sales are slightly behind Xbox 360 sales, whereas Xbox One sales were actually slightly ahead of Xbox 360 sales within the same timeframe.

Here a example: https://www.vgchartz.com/ar...

It's a bit concerning that people don't seem to understand this.

That would be the Xbox Series sales as a whole, not just the Series X. If we consider the latter in isolation, based on those leaked documents, it should be trailing behind the Dreamcast, Wii U, and PS Vita, let alone the much more successful Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

And it's also what the original source claims: "Xbox Series trails Xbox One by 13% and remains slightly behind Xbox 360". So I would suggest for the article to be corrected.

Completely different types of money, though.

In Brazil we saw something similar. The Xbox 360 and the beginning of the Xbox One era were a boom for Microsoft's marketing. You couldn't go to big retail stores without seeing their games and consoles occupying a lot of space. There were test booths and even buses and trains wrapped in their advertising.

After the change in leadership, all of this went the way of the dodo. The best we get now is a You...

Hoyo games aren't sustainable as 'premium titles.' They would have one season and then proceed to die. Take Genshin Impact, for example; according to their former president, that game alone has a $200 million per year upkeep cost.

It would need to sell 3 million units yearly at full price ($70) just to cover its yearly costs, and that is before making any profit and assuming the initial investment was zero.

I always find it weird to see opinion pieces reminiscing about a time when the article's author wasn't even alive to see it. This "switch" to profit over creativity in the industry started way back in the NES era when Nintendo controlled the number of games each publisher could release in a given time. This, in turn, made publishers carefully choose what was going to be released.

Things only really got better with the 3DO and later PlayStation, which chang...

@Einhander1972
PlayStation generated $1 billion in the first two years of the game, based on Sony's own leak. Which is great, but it's literally one-third of the revenue generated by mobile during the same period.

And on top of that, MiHoYo was already bringing their games to the West way before any PlayStation version of Genshin Impact. In actuality, the PlayStation version of Genshin Impact was quite literally the last one to come out, other than the unof...

If they can. Otherwise, console is quite literally the smallest market for this sort of game, so it makes sense to be unprioritized.

Unfortunately, yes. Indies were originally games that were outside of the main market, created by studios with no ties to publishers or larger companies. Then, at some point, they started to include pretty much every game that looks smallish. And even that went the way of the dodo, and budget size started to be compared, which we often don't know; now it's pretty much whatever you are feeling that day. Some will say that it's about creative freedom, which is also basically impossi...

Yeah, that is going to be an issue with all Cave-developed games. Now that they just license their titles to different companies, we will start seeing their games getting delisted and probably re-listed at a later date by a different publisher.

A Ubisoft game being a hard-hitting classic is already pretty much impossible. And an Assassin's Creed game being one? Come on, it's going to be the same wishy-washy open world with a ton of the same old objectives as the last games. The only difference is the coat of paint.

Like, don't get me wrong. Their games aren't necessarily bad, but they are so absurdly formulaic that I wouldn't be surprised if some sports games ended up with more variation betwee...

Honestly, I don't.

Dead Rising is a series that I strongly believe got worse with each new entry. At the same time, there was only so much you could do with the original idea. So while the remaster is cool, I don't see a future for this franchise.

I'm not sure if they even have the rights for that. The Darkness is a Image Comics IP.

I mean, it's pretty much impossible for Atari to enter the console market at this point. If anything, other than giants companies, it's an unbreakable wall.

The best they could do is Mini Consoles and Mini PCs, like they have been doing in the last couple of years.
