Yeah, I really wish they let the franchise rest a little. In the last 2 years we had 7 Atelier releases, between main games, spin-offs and remasters...
Guts should focus on developing a new series or continuing some of their more forgotten tittles like Blue Reflection.
@Neonridr
Oh I do agree that Slender Man fever is already over and dead. But the game is going to be sold on the Switch and if other releases of older games on the platform are anything to go by, them it have a pretty solid chance to sell well.
I doubt it will sell as good as it did on it was fresh (it sold 350k on PC alone), but I can see it making a buck on the Switch as well.
It would make perfect sense if the price was better. For $150 - $190 I could see myself picking one up to use with the Game Pass. However for $250 it just makes more sense to pick up a base Xbox One S
@The_Sage
Yeah, there are 62 games of this genre for the Switch according to Whatoplay. Sure it pales in comparison to PS4 204 and XONE 158, but it still a pretty big library and I would argue that most of those games are better than Slender: The Arrival.
We will have to see the sales of it before saying something like that. But the competition will not be easy, as there are a lot of horror games available on the console.
We will only see lewd content in this game if people mod it in. Because the original title was created as a All-Ages product and therefore doesn't feature that sort of content.
You may also get a Nvidia Shield TV if don't really like to play on computers. As that is sort of console and will most likely play this game.
Good to see that Valve have changed their mind about that one, as the game itself doesn't not feature any sexual content and therefore it was just bizarre to not allow it's launch. Still, is such a shame that mostly likely only happened after all the noise that people (myself included) did.
So I would argue that supporting GOG on that release is a better idea than buying from Steam. Because that way we will motivate the guys at GOG to keep allowing this type of gam...
That would be hard, this company have never dealt with consoles and there aren't many of those in China anyway. But who knows, maybe if people make enough noise.
I'm more interested in the pinball one to be honest. But will be pretty fun to see the mods for this one. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Pretty good article. The Atelier series is a very weird one. As each game have it's own ideas and can play vastly differently than another title even in the same trilogy.
But to get to know the franchise or at least what was the fundation of it. I would argue that the Arland is the best one, even though I prefer other sub-series even more.
I get that. But don't think that will happen, because Epic would not allow that to happen. Again we are talking about a company that spended millions of dollars just to take a third party game out of a competitor's store.
Plus we already have a similar case in Phoenix Point (also crowdfounded, also going to delivered in the form of Steam keys) and the most they managed to do in that regard was to offer Steam keys to the backers that will only be delivered one year ...
Not exactly the same thing, as the pre-orders for Metro Exodus were open on Steam for half a month before Epic paid to take it out of Steam - they didn't pay for exclusivity, as the game is being sold though the Microsoft Store as well. They just didn't want Steam to be able to sell it as well.
In that case the publisher had to either honor those sales or offer refunds, because the treat of legal action was pretty much real. That said, they did take a risk on Euro...
I really doubt that they would do something like that. Because those keys could be sold elsewhere, plus I don't believe Epic would allow it to release on Steam in any form, no matter how limited that would be.
It might also be just some PR bullshit and they will not do anything in the end.
They will most likely ask for more money from Epic to balance the backlash or even to offer refunds to the backers.
As a micro-pc, I can say it's pretty decent for the base price ($249). But as a console, I don't see why anyone would want one.
Chinese developer, consoles are not a important market for them. But depending on the reception they might port it over.
I don't think it is bad per see. However I don't believe that the price is coherent with what it offers.
It is based on the anime of the same name, but there a lot of parts that are straight up ripped from said anime (as in they literally play the anime). And while they did add some new scenes they together don't make more than half a hour of content. Then there is the gameplay, it is a visual novel/point click type of game. Therefore other than some minigames ...
Unless they added something over the PS4 version, I can't really recommend this game. It's short, doesn't have much added into the story and the few "game" sections that it does have are really nothing to to write home about being mostly minigames.
If it was going for something like $20 I could see some appeal. But for $50, sticking with the Anime is a far better option.
Personally I don't think that what they showed us about Scalebound was good. The frame rate was all over the place and it overall felt lifeless. It was however the most distinct Xbox One exclusive, but that say more about the other exclusives than about Scalebound itself.
Illbleed was pretty bad on the Dreamcast. Sure a enchanted version could fix a lot of it's issues, but if the original is something to go by I don't think we lost much with that being cancelle...
