Seriously, did we get screwed yet again with a pre-release announcement that there is going to be an announcement?

Its probably best not to take the word of the Dreamcast in vain. As far as I'm concerned, I live in a fantasy world where all is right and the better platform with the better games won...the Dreamcast. To this day my Dreamcast remains plugged in, and many of the games _still_ look as good if not better than many Xbox or PS2 games.

Replace the words Sony with MS and PS3 with 360 and does anyone really believe any one would be saying it is a good thing for MS to have its new system selling less than its old one?

The only issue I have is that it seems Sony has the same mentality as many of the fanboys on this site...ignore issues, pretend things are perfect and problems will magically fix themselves.

They won't. Guess what, Microsoft has a lot of failures. Sales in Japan suck. Guess what...

Or the following happens:

1. No compatibility with core windows subsystems, including the MANDATORY DRM that is implemented at the kernal level. If the drivers aren't certified by Microsoft for DRM, then Full HD playback can and will be crippled based upon lack of adherence to guidelines. What matters is the core Vista support. Microsoft already stated this.

This is why Bill Gates _required_ Sony to "give and take" if they wanted BluRay compatibilit...

Although I hate that there is no online component, this should lay to rest whether or not this game is any good.

And since it is a cross-platform game now, there really should be no fanboyisms on this game. Yay!

I am a bluray supporter by virtue of the PS3, however, given that Vista only has native support for HD-DVD, do you really think that this format war is even close to being over?

It is just such a waste of effort at this early stage (and yes it is early) to bother caring about the formats. Those of us with a player really just need to sit back and enjoy our movies until one format is officially dead.

Well, now that you declared that it is time for me to run to the store and dump my HD-DVD player (if I owned one), I'm thankful for all the money you saved me on this dead format. Phew.

I am a Blu-Ray supported by virtue of its inclusion in the PS3, but to say that HD-DVD is dead at this point, especially with the mountains of evidence you supplied, is a little absurd.

It is a format war, and it is very much up in the air at this point...

Am I the only one here who could _honestly_ care less about which format wins? A year from now, even if you support the "losing" format, you were aware of the gamble you took and players of the winning format will have dropped to DVD player prices. Or are there so many people here that are worried about "wasting" money on a movie format this is really the most important next-gen topic?

I really hate that the biggest battle on a video game site is over a ne...

"We have a PS3 here in the office ourselves, and we, like all of you PS3 fans out there, don't want to end up with a dead console."

At the end of the day, this is why there are rabid fanboys in the world for all consoles.

...support "jiggle physics." Because we all know that, without jiggle physics, nothing can be called "earth-shattering." ;)

6963d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'd file that under "interesting". Nowhere near earth-shattering.

Earth-shattering would be an announcement that MGS4 will be released solely on the new N-Gauge platform. ;)

6963d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I doubt Konami would call MGS4 for the 360 "earth shattering", as using that term in that instance would really be a slap to Sony's face. It says "Look how important we are and you lost us, jerks." I'm assuming that the two companies wish to maintain a good relationship.

A buyout, however, is genuinely earth shattering. Although if Sony made a bid for Konami you can bet MS would immediately counter the offer. They spent 650 million for Rare, and would c...

Evolution Snowboarding 2 for the Wii!! ;)

(Note: For those of you lucky enough to have skipped Konami's Evolution Snowboarding for the GC, which is most of you, I've included a link to a review of the original. Probably Konami's worst game to-date. )

I really think there is something wrong with that batch of shots...although I can't quite put my finger on it. The resolution seems good, given that the splintered floorboards look amazing, but the models in some of the shots just don't have the same look I've been seeing.

That sucks I guess.

Now I'm going to go back to playing _video games_ on my _video game_ console, if you don't mind. ;)

At the end of the day, I really think PSP sales are still decent. No, they don't touch the DS, but the vast majority of those sales are due to the simple fact of the price. Games like GTA and MG:PO should have gone a long way towards selling the PSP.

Seriously, even this long after the launch, whipping out a PSP on a plane still gives some serious staring by the other passengers. It is such a slick little device.

Just 60 for the initial run is fine, I guess, since most of us imagine a sell-out.

VERY shortly after that, though, I hope they decide to go with the cheap pack as well. The premium version is just a little pricey at this point for those of us that really don't care about wifi. Plus, eliminating as much sticker shock, even if it is just in news stories, is as important as possible.

I, the author, and most intelligent sentient beings on this planet do in fact believe that the PS3 would have sold MORE units had the price been $300 yet it didn't include BluRay. Why?

Because the PS3 is a VIDEO GAME MACHINE...and the Wallmart crowd doesn't give much thought to the importance of BluRay like the rabid followers online do.

Allow me to clarify the business 101 argument, since you apprarently skipped that class:

PS3 for $300 with the ...

GameWorld has five million unique readers a month, placing it on par with 1Up and IGN. How in God's name is an ARTICLE on a major gaming site just "some dude's opinion" or a "blog post?"

Just like every other analysts opinion, any article by a mainstream gaming outlet is completely and totally 100% in line with the posting guidelines of this site. But I'm guessing you've either failed or haven't taken the posting test.

Hey, I have an idea that will help Sony make people happy as well. They should include four more controllers and half a dozen free games with the system as well. And they should probably go ahead and throw in the memory card converter and the coupon for 50 free BluRay movies. Couldn't hurt sales, right?

"If Sony really wants to make people happy, Drop the price of the machine.
Forget about the 20 gig system, just scrap it all together. and just focus on the 60 g...
