...but what does it have to do with either my post or the actual article.

Are you implying that since you feel the 360 doesn't have enough AAA titles it isn't competition for Sony?

And as a warning, ANYTIME someone posts the "system x only has the following good games" there are inevitably two to three posts with a substantially longer list from the opposing side. I, for one, feel you have missed quite a few great games, but someone else will do a far better j...

I understand he's just a writer, but the ONLY mention of the 360 is to mention that GOW sold 1million games and that is another sign Sony should hurry.

I understand completely if someone doesn't like the 360, but to do a "market analysis" piece on the next gen systems without mentioning the possible impact that the current leader will have is absurd.

Good news though, according to this guy we can expect to see the "full power" of the cell in a...

"crappy60"

That really doesn't work. It doesn't rhyme, and it doesn't use "360."

I think I've hear "CrapBox 360", which is much better, as it follows the console naming convention somewhat, gets the full 360 in AND uses "crap."

I know you can come up with something better if you keep at it!

Good luck!

You are correct, you still need to know C#, no one is denying that. But leaning C# compared to C++ for the average user is a substantially simpler task. Take out pointers and memory management (and thus the associated data structures and search algorithms and whatnot), which C# does, and you can literally rip half of the workload out of a CS degree.

Also, XNA is more like walking with regular game programming like flying a plane. As I put below "It literally takes less...

"Er, XNA does require a membership fee. So technically you do have to pay. "

XNA, FOR WINDOWS, is 100% free. If you want to test/debug/play your game on the 360, it costs $100.

"If your game wants to use (video format X), it can."

NO IT CAN NOT. XNA is MANAGED direct-x, meaning you are only given access to specific high-level functions. The XNA team has confirmed that media functions are not part of the sdk, and surpise...they aren't there!

"Many people who just wanted to try XNA out have found their membership fee wasted because they didn't know sufficient programming to really contribute. "

Then maybe...

That you would read my comments as fanboyism and misread everything I said using your own filter.

"but….it wasn’t because the product was a Xbox 360, just that it was a great deal"

Ummm, isn't that exactly what I said with " It has NOTHING to do with "demand", it has everything to do with an amazing deal. "

"to think that, that was the single isolated reasoning behind the Amazon.com crash is utterly absurd. "...

Here is the original article title:

"MotorStorm Best-Selling PS3 Game in Japan"

What did our fanboy change it to?

"MotorStorm Runs Over the Competition in Japan"

"Competition", which intrinsicly means 360 and Wii, of course. Unfortunately, while it is the best selling PS3 game, it still loses to Wii Sports, Blue Dragon and Zelda on the other places. Stop the misleading fanboy garbage. The original tit...

I had to get a PS3 for work, and I must say that I really did enjoy RFOM. At this point, however, I would have a hard time recommending the system to someone...the games really aren't there yet (like all launches). If someone really doesn't want a 360 for some reason, I would recommend they get the Wii now and wait on the PS3 until next Christmas and a hopeful price drop.

The boys at Epic and MS salivating over the pure cash machine that will be the sequel.

Sony has had some great 3rd party titles (Konami's games, FFwhatever, GTA), but they only make royalties on those. With GOW and Halo being MS owned properties, a substantial percentage of the cash goes directly to MS's bottom line.

It is pretty obvious that those that are so quick to slam MS and praise sony _on this matter_ have never touched a line of code in their lives.

Just give credit where it is due. Microsoft did an AMAZING thing with XNA. At the very least, forget about the xbox, and realize they created a FREE game development platform with the industry's BEST IDE (FREE), superb training and documentation, examples and assets, an amazing pipeline and the simplest framework for making games in t...

Guess what? This "more available" selection of PS3s that is _rumored_ is going to last TWO SECONDS before Amazon sells out the little number of units they get. He's making it sound as if all of a sudden supply problems will be fixed and, as long as they "update their servers", lots of people will get one. I'm getting sick of the idiocy of the internet.

He then goes on to state that if the $100 360 sale crashed amazon, then "Taking into account that the P...

As a former graphics whore and owner of a 360 and PS3, I am AMAZED by how much fun the Wii is. It has been dominating my play time, and according to the podcasts, virtually all the editors at the game mags agree.

They serve VERY different purposes
.
Linux will allow _very good_ programming teams to create some awesome applications, such as media center and emulators until Sony pulls locks it down. Given that the video API isn't made public, quality games will be hard. The process of programming a game is absolutely just as hard as it is programming a Linux game today (read: take a look at whats out there, creating "Next Gen" games isn't going to happen.

Demand is beyond belief. They are flying off the shelves and I doubt it will stop anytime soon.

The _second_ demand diminishes, they will be able to drop the price to what it should have been, $200 or $150 to increase demand and STILL make a substantial profit.

I love the Wii, but I do not want it to "win" this generation, as I feel there is still very much a place for the "hardcore" console and games.

MS needs to drop the 360...

I just realized how the movie release TV adds must come across to the average, uninformed citizen.

"Available Now on DVD, Blu-Ray and UMD" is how many of the Sony-Columbia/Tristar releases end.

To me, this makes it seem like the three formats are just different "formats" of a DVD. Joe Walmart says "I have a DVD, so that is the format for me."

To reach a bigger audience they need to change it to

Why the hell must you consistently act like a child? Seriously, in what way does using the term "xbots" add anything? A post that uses the term is pretty obviously designed solely to piss people off...which is exactly what this poor little site has finally started to get rid of. Your strike will cause some 360 fanboy to fight back with a derogatory term of th...

If they ship 1,999,999 units by Decembar, Wall Street looks at this as a fail, and share prices will drop substantially. Unfortunately for Sony, even if they hit 2,000,000, if MS or Sony posts higher-than-expected numbers, Sony shares will also take a hit.

The key point here is that Sony has literally hitched the company and shareholder success on a single product...which is a terrifying idea for any company regardless of the product.
