BC can be very popular to have and not be that popular to use. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

Well the new study shows that 1.5% of all time spent on Xbox One content is 360/back compat games (source: https://cdn.arstechnica.net... ) ...So while I believe it is better to have back compat than not have it, it is a diminishing asset.

@Death "I think it would be more interesting if Ryan told us how many subscribers he has for PSNow. If what he is saying is true, the service must be a massive failure and complete waste of $380 million. It's funny how he isn't mentioning the numbers he actually knows."

It very well may be interesting, but none of that changes the facts of this article & study. Back Compat, while better to have than not have, is still a diminishing asset. And the stu...

While back compat is better to have than not have, its also a diminishing asset. And this study shows that it is a bit overhyped

Back Compat is better to have than not have & its an asset, but its a diminishing asset & this study shows how over hyped it is...Every new 8th gen game that comes out is one less reason to go back and play 7th gen games that have been available for 5+years

Right...I think the option is good to have. But this study proves that back compat is over hyped

I can see why some can say Zelda > Horizon (although I disagree)...But all day every with ease......Stop it!!!

@Septic -- "So let me spell it out for you. Native 4k60 is not happening on Scorpio, regardless of how thoroughly it outclasses the Pro."

And herein lies an issue for Scorpio. All of us hardcore gamers can tell the difference in power between the Scorpio & Pro just by comparing the specs sheets. BUT in order for Scorpio to turn the tide of this generation (as many on the Xbox side believe will happen) Scorpio will need the buy in from the average & casua...

@moldybread -- "Why would you expect 4K 60fps games as common? Oh that's right, you want to continue to put Microsoft at unreachable expectations just so you can 'pass' on it. Good job."

"Why would you expect 4K 60fps games as common?"
1) When official Xbox executives have been promoting Scorpio as a "beast" that will be the only "True 4K" console
2) AND you marry that with the recent scuffle over the pos...

I happen to agree with 3 things on the list (specifically needing an attractive Scorpio price, exclusive games & securing more 1st party studios)

The problem is: I'm concerned that Xbox won't accomplish these 3 things

@EpicBuffet "It was even the day scorpio was announced."

1) It being even to you, doesn't mean it is even to most
2) Xbox winning over the people who already prefer Xbox = Xbox preaching ...

@OMGitzThatGuy "@BiggerBoss Microsoft has only cancelled 2 games this gen."

Microsoft cancelled 3 bigger games (Scalebound, Fable Legends & a NEW Phantom Dust) & 1 smaller game (Project Spark) this gen.

@Overload

You make a good point. And while lots of big games are making the same choice, it always seemed odd that FIFA, of all games, would market with Xbox in the first place. I get that EA & Microsoft are close, but FIFA is way bigger outside of the USA than it is in the USA & Xbox (with the exception of UK where it does fairly well) is almost the polar opposite.

For the most part, I tend to agree with all above. Marketing deals alone is one thing. When you pair that with the quality AAA exclusives PS4 has been bringing, along with the sheer number of quality AAA exclusives. All I have to say is...Damn

As of the writing of this comment (12 noon, eastern time, on Tues May 23rd) Xbox has taken down the June 2017 Games w/Gold youtube video...I'm sure it'll be back up, but I thought it was just weird that they took the video down. Maybe somebody posted it too early.

EDIT at 12:03 eastern time the video is back up

@moldybread - "Does it say paid (Plus) members or just active members?"

The report from this article is just PSN's monthly active members, not paid (Plus) subscribers.

But prior to this I always thought it was weird when I saw people comparing XBL's 50+ million monthly active users versus 20+ million PS Plus subscribers. I always thought that was the epitome of apples & oranges.

I always thought it was weird when people compared all monthly active users of Xbox Live (paid "Gold" & non-paid "Silver") to just the PSN Plus (paid) users
