Since cross-console play wasn't a big deal for the decade prior to Microsoft changing their policy, lets not pretend its a big deal now. If it happens, cool. If not, no big deal
@moldybread
I gotta love how people care so much about cross-console play now that Microsoft changed it's policy on it. In the prior decade nobody cared or talked about this issue for 1 second. As soon as Microsoft changes course, "Its Sony's fault"
In conclusion, if we get cross-console play, cool. If not (for whatever reason), fine.
@Obscure_Observer
I stand corrected...Xbox does NOT mandate frame rates between consoles even on MP
Mike Ybarra just confirmed it https://twitter.com/XboxQwi...
@Obscure_Observer - "The policies you mentioned only applies to MP modes in first party tittles from both Sony and Microsoft."
The policies do not only apply to first party titles, the policy applies to MP modes of ALL titles. Microsoft wants all XB1s (vanilla, S & Scorpio owners) to play MP modes together on BOTH 1st party titles & 3rd party multplats. Sony has the same policy for their PS4 line of hardware
Scorpio CAN'T run the game at 4K/60fps...Phil Spencer already said that all XB1 sku's had to run games at the same frame rate (same goes for PS4 sku's too). And we all know neither vanilla consoles will run the game at 60fps
As much as people want FPS over 4K (which I agree with)...BOTH Sony & Microsoft have policies that neither Pro nor Scorpio can run games at higher frame rates than the other sku's within the same family of consoles. And I'm not sure vanilla PS4 or vanilla XB1 can run Destiny 2 at 60fps regardless of any compromises Bungie could make.
Scorpio & Pro will only do 60fps if the 8th gen launch consoles do 60fps. Unless Bungie dials other aspects of the game back on the vanilla consoles then I don't see 60fps on consoles.
So this seems like a game where Scorpio & Pro's power will probably go under-utilized.
Good news... Now we have to see if it gets a full green light for production & then what development studio works on it.
I happen to agree with this article. Microsoft & Xbox have repeatedly said that they don't care which Xbox Live enabled device people bring in their homes. And they're moving away from the analytics of hardware sold and to MAU (Monthly Access [Live] Users).
This doesn't mean that they're going away from consoles any time soon, BUT if & when they see their profit lines moving away from consoles they wont hesitate to drop hardware
Wait a minute...I trolled this game. But not only did I acknowledge this was good fan serivce (1st reply comment to the 1st actual comment), I'm the one who submitted this article
Yeah, I'm more PS4 than XB1 but I can't lie, free is pretty good fan service

Sorry, but Paragraph 9 contradicts this whole guy's argument. The very platform(PlayStation) that this author suggests is not ready for the future, is the very platform that this author concedes is selling the best.
He goes on (in what I believe is his premise) in Paragraph 10 to go back to the old trope of console gaming is "no longer viable". I tend to disagree with such a premise and thus believe this article comes to the wrong conclusion based on this fla...
In order for Scorpio VR to be mainstream, Scorpio would have to be come mainstream...And Scorpio very well may become mainstream. But we don't know that yet. And i think Price will be the biggest determining factor as to Scorpio's (and thus ScorpioVR solution's) mainstream probability.
@gangsta_red - "And are we just going to focus on just ONE of my hypothetical scenarios" ...Yes, b/c that was the ONE hypothetical scenarios that made no sense. Not to mention that scenario would mean the community manager either doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's lying (which, by the way, would lend validity to the "PR, BS, Nonsense from MS!" that you referenced earlier)

@gangsta_red - "Or is this just a red herring meant to throw us off and they really do have a Halo game to show?"
@gangsta_red - "I was throwing out different possible scenarios of what could happen."
But why is 1 of your scenarios that 343i is lying? If they confirm that they wont show Halo 6 then that means they aren't going to show the game. Sometimes you have to believe the developers are just being honest

@donthate -- It's Sony throwing the last bone to PS VR before it goes the way of PS Move, PS Vita, PS TV and PSP Go.
Yeah, VR got a long way to go."
Well the more risks a company takes, the higher the possibility for failure. But without risks PlayStation might only be known for the same 3 franchises over and over and over again like a different video game company.
Theoretically developers could make Scorpio exclusives then. I mean, if they can use the Scorpio's power however they see fit, then they can make games that use all (or close to all) of the Scorpio's power [thus leaving vanilla & XB1S consoles behind]
