How quick do people forget that Xbox 360 was getting DLC first...and not just 1 month. With DLC for GTA 4, 360 got it 1 year before PS3 [Source]: http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
I played both...I LOVE both
Can't wait to play sequels to both
The possibilities of new games are always good to see
The problem is that in this internet/fast pace world, more and more people are prisoners of the moment. And right now the moment are PlayStation & Switch.
When Scorpio drops in the latter part of the year, it'll be their moment.
Now if Sony manages to drop GT:Sport & another major exclusive (I'm looking at the slim possibility of Spider-Man or God of War)...then the latter part of the year will be both Xbox & PlayStation's moment ...
Does anybody know where this PS4 notification section can be found?
I can't take any "Scorpio might sink the PS4/Pro" articles seriously until we know the price...The price comparison between the Scorpio & Pro is the comparison to which ALL other comparisons get put into context.
Think about both extremes in the eyes of average consumers (avg consumers make up the vast majority of console purchasers):
1st Extreme - Scorpio Very Attractive Price: If the Scorpio launches at $400 & the Pro gets a price reduction ...
Good point
Which is the better way of pitting 2 robots to fight each other???...Overriding a robot (which means U gotta get close, but only have to do once) [my favorite] OR....Using Corrupt arrows (which means U can keep your distance but have to keep shooting them w/corruption arrows)
Good job GG!!!
Critical Success + Commercial Success = New IP turning into Longterm Franchise!!!
Still seeing a lot of people compare 2017 Japan to Japan of years past. Some are now trying to point to software numbers to prove Japan is less relevant.
The fact is Phil Spencer would not take time out of his busy schedule (busy with new hardware about to launch) to go to Japan if it weren't still VERY, VERY, VERY important...That is, unless you don't think Spencer knows what the heck he's doing
@darthv72
I see that you & several other people compare Japan to the Japan of years past. In that regard, Japan is not as big as it once was. I agree.
But that doesn't change the fact that Japan, when compared to all other countries in 2017, is still in the top 5 (and possibly top 3) when it comes to home console sales. So even if they slipped from where they once were, they are still more relevant (in the home console market) than 95% of all o...
@moldybread - "It's no wonder Japanese developers have been aiming their sites at creating games that can also appeal to western gamers."
These same Japanese developers are making games exclusive to PS4, not because of a Sony deal, but because of how non-exsistant the Xbox brand is in Japan. Thats the reason why PS4 is getting default exclusives & the reason why the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer went to Japan.
@moldybread - "Nobody is saying Japan is irrelevant"
Umm, did you read the very next comment after my original post??? It was from @thekhurg & his opening line was "In the grand scheme of things they are somewhat irrelevant."
And 1 more thing @moldybread, most people agree that Japan isn't as big as big in he home console market as it was in the '90's. BUT, as of today, it's still 1 of the top home console markets...
@thekurg
Although your right that Japan isn't as big as they used to be, you are dead wrong that Japan is "somewhat irrelevant". Japan is still the 3rd largest gaming market in the world (North America & Europe being 1 & 2, respectively)
And if you just talk countries, and not markets, how many countries have sold more than 4.5M PS4s (or any other 8th gen console)? In other words, name another country (other than the USA (& may...
Why do I keep hearing & reading people saying "Japan is irrelevant"? 4.5M PS4 owners are irrelevant now?
@gangsta_red - "I'm sure that will change soon as Sony starts to push PSNow more."
Sony will only start pushing PSNow more if subscriptions go up & stay up. If not, they might reverse course
@moldybread
The problem is that Xbox, through its "True 4K" marketing, is trying to differentiate itself from the PS4 Pro. The problem for this marketing strategy is, like you said, "the ps4 already does a few games in true 4k".
So both consoles can do some games in "True 4K" and NEITHER console can do ALL games in "True 4K". Therefore, Xbox is basically marketing a different shade of gray
@GorillaTact
Sorry, but on several occasions Microsoft, in an effort to distinguish between native & upscaled 4K, has repeatedly used the term "True 4K". As of this very comment, its currently on their official website [seen here near the bottom of this official website: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/p... ]
And if Microsoft keeps using the term "True 4K...
I don't expect PS5 till 2019 or 2020...BUT when PS5 does release, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft adheres to the "All Scorpio games have to run on vanilla XB1s also" script. My guess is probably not.
Furthermore, when that PS5 does release (again my guess is 2019 or 2020), Xbox will need exclusives b/c the power won't be on their side
Sony, on the other hand, is doing it right. There is NO DOUBT Scorpio will have the power f...
"not much point in announcing a price now if its not due until late this year"
If a sales person thinks the price of a product will make you MORE likely to buy said product, they usually try to tell you the price as soon as they can.
If a sales person thinks the price of a product will make you LESS likely to buy said product, they usually wait as late in their pitch as possible to tell you the price.
