i disagree. i think it can cost at least as much as the ps4 and people will still buy it if they are truly interested in it. I will. I'd rather be it be cheaper but I doubt it will be. Not in the first year at least for sure. I'll still buy it though even at a higher price tag. apparently according to this article I'm in the 40%.

@nix:

kinda two different games right? sometimes we have to read between the lines - as we are not computers... are we? COD gets a good score sure, and its assumed that its scored for what it is - a competitive FPS so its apparently a fantastic FPS related to the competition. TR gets a similar score but umm... completely different type of game. I assume thats taken into account as well? i mean - we wouldn't compare a review for a sofa and a review for a bed and assume...

having both consoles is the way to go. Exclusives are never a problem and you don't have to get dragged down trying to convince everyone that the exclusives only available to one console are better than the exclusives on the other console. you just get to pick what games you want, period.

they didn't shun anyone. they negotiated a deal with MS, Just like EA didn't shun xbox when Sony bought all of the advertising exclusivity. Its just business, yet everyone makes it out to be personal or like the studios have general preferences in who gets what... i guess to some degree they do - the one that offers the most money wins. That goes for every studio and hardware manufacturer.

I have an xbox and I'm buying TombRaider and I bought Halo. Some of us ...

@fattyuk

no. again. I'm not salty. why the f*ck would i care. what annoys me is people misrepresenting things. thats the part i care about. I have a wii U, a ps4, an x1, an apple tv, an iPhone, an iPad and even a nexus tablet that i ended up with somehow from a convention as well as a vintage atari 2600. in terms of gaming, I'm covered, and I am not loyal to any one brand. if i wanted to buy another gaming system or if another system was considered better, i would...

Read this article and tell me where the Apple TV is even being compared to those things.

http://www.macworld.com/art...

Apple is going after google chromecast, Amazon and Roku. Not the gaming specific platforms. This whole games approach is a straw man argument in the gaming space, started by "journ...

It's not focused on games. It has the ability to play them. I have one. The primary things getting pushed on it are still tv shows and movies. Yes the remote has wii like motion sensing but any app (not just games) can use this ability. That same remote also has a touch surface and voice commands... Things that have nothing to do with gaming. It's basically an iPhone for your tv with a focus on tv. Not even apple is pushing it as a games consoles. They mention it can play iOS games a...

@r2oB:

The only salt here is the reality distortion on this site. I have a ps4 and an xb1. The ps4 isn't leaps and bounds different. The difference (when there is one) is usually a difference in rez of 320x180. This difference is insignificant to me - and I work in a lot of 3D/cgi media as a career and furthermore have both consoles hooked up to a high end Sony 4K tv.

The ps4 is in fact more powerful than the xb1, but it's not 50% more powerful like p...

Digital trends says re the oculus:
"But one detail that was conspicuously absent from the event was the price of the headset. Well, after the event, PC Gamer caught up with VP of Product Nate Mitchell and tried to dig up some more info. While he didn’t reveal a final price, he did say that it will cost “at least $300....

...Oculus did say that headsets would be in the range of $300 to $400, which aligns broadly with this latest bit of information."

Agreed. Even the Vive is going to be one of the cheaper ones and it's expected to come in at 300-350

3743d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

It's gonna be at least 350. Sorry. There's no way Sony can produce a competitive, cutting edge vr hmd and sell it for $200. That's not selling it at a loss, that's paying people to take it of their hands.

HMDs are not going to be for the budge minded. Not in the first commercial year or two at least. Sony said themselves it would be priced comparable to a new gaming platform.

Who cares. People still play 900p games on the ps4 and get by. Overreact when a console has a substantial rez difference - like a pc running a game at 4 times the resolution of 1080p with better effects on top of it. THAT is a noticeable difference and something to brag about. The difference between 900p and 1080p is a 320x180 res difference. If you watched a video at that res on your computer it would be so small and blurry you'd think it was from 1992.

Yeah those 300 vertical lines extra on the ps4 make a huuuuuuuge difference! Even tho all the assets and effects are the same on both. That's definitely 50% more powerful right there. Maybe even 200% more powerful.... Shoot not even those pc's doing 4x 1080p can compete with the ps4s 1080p. It's the best, most powerful, marginal difference I've ever seen! I should go burn my Xbox one and put my ps4 on a big golden pedestal emblazoned with the words "runs the best 300 mo...

Then why did Sony buy all the advertising rights up in the first place, when they are already leading in sales?

It's not about being classy, it's about selling units. Sony pulled the same thing with other titles too. Yet if ms buys rights to timed exclusivity titles or try to sneak in some tiny form of advertising so people know the game is a multiplat they are considered desperate a-holes. This site is a joke. Double standards and fanboys everywhere. Most of all, peo...

haters gonna hate, dog, but i got your back. ;) the multiplayer is freaking fantastic. - if anything was gonna take a hit it would be the campaign but even its a solid 8. The multiplayer is what makes it a must have title for any gamer interested in competitive multiplayer, period. regardless of console preference.

i think sony is ok with selling a smaller number of units to people willing to spend more for it. its a completely new market, its completely wild west and there are pretty much no standard practices or trends or historical data to base any responsible decision on.

when the iPhone first came out, people happily handed over $600+ in a market saturated with subsidized $200 phones because it was just that next level. Look how that worked out down the road and now today its eas...

i think its smart for them to not discount the hardware and sell it at a loss - even if that means selling a smaller amount of units to more enthusiastic early adopters (like myself). this will let them test the markets, build content and a user base and then allow them to adjust to the markets naturally afterward for competition without losing money on the release. i think this will help secure a more successful product launch of an entirely new market.

we shouldn't c...

I think this is the setup for the higher price tag that they drop later. Its going to be priced in a range that only early adopters willing to drop some money for first dibs and they know that those people aren't going to be the majority. They probably won't sell it as a loss, knowing that eventually as more people adopt it and manufacturing, parts etc become cheaper they can drop the price at that point - just like with consoles. Its fine by me - I'll definitely pick one up as...
