Awesome. Spencer should have been the one handling Xbox One from the ground up.
It would be great to have a demo of this game. I am definitely interested and I love what I've seen, but I like to keep my optimism cautious these days. Too many times now I've been let down to varying degrees.
I don't think anyone should make a game run less than it is capable of running, regardless of platform. If the ps4 is capable of pushing out 1080p on this title, it should do so.
That said, the way I understand it is that this was a cpu limitation problem and not a gpu limitation problem. This wouldn't be the first time a cpu bottleneck issue has come up.
I would normally just blow this off as another stupid Ubisoft blunder except for the fact that ...
Yup. It's still telling me to check my internet connection, yet the ps4 is fine with everything else. Offline is fine, but it keeps giving error messages about not some data not being saved if I play.
Awesome. Thanks for the motivation!
Everybody at work keeps talking about this game. I really need to get it. I'm not a huge LOTR fan but the game seems really fun and I love what I've heard about the Nemesis System. Sounds like it really adds that extra layer of depth.
@Foxtrot:
I don't blame them for running with it, and of course most people would in fact run with it; Thats promotion I don't find any fault with that. What I am pointing out is that if you are going to claim that your game A is better than someone else' game B, people are actually going to hold you to it and make that comparison. If you don't have the goods to back up your claims its going to backfire.
They asked to be compared to Forza an...
In the most recent trailer they claimed it was a "Forza Killer". Even if they didn't make that quote, they certainly ran with it. Kinda seems like they asked for the comparison. Even if for some reason Driveclub sells more, it doesn't change the fact that it wasn't as well received as Forza critically, and more sales ≠ better game. If that logic were true, McDonalds would have the best hamburger in the world.
Lol! True.
A 9 seems generous to me but I would agree with what you said otherwise. I'd say a 7.5-8(ish) personally.
I enjoy Driveclub and was very much looking forward to it, but I don't love it. It's good at the very least. I'd give it a 7.5.
It was probably a bit overhyped imho, but it seems most tentpole games are these days. Still, it feels like it's missing something aside from the pending weather update. I just don't know what it is.
The way I understood after the mysterious "clarification" that it was due to CPU limitations because there were too many NPC's on screen at any one given time. - Lowering the resolution helped make up some difference. That is their official response at least. Do you know if thats false?
Project Cars will be out soon enough. I think that will be a more robust, lasting solution to the lack of solid racers on the PS4.
I don't think its honest to defend a less than perfect game as if it is, just because there are a lack of titles available at this very second.
I think its reasonable to say if you only have a PS4, Driveclub could hold you over until a better title came along. -BUT- To say its an outstanding game or better than more establis...
Well this game is certainly reviewing consistently well. It's too bad I'm not a huge basketball fan. It looks great though.
If it was truly for technical reasons, then I am OK with it. If it was simply to avoid a debate and nothing more, then thats a really big disappointment.
This is going to be a great update and couldn't come too soon.
I noticed that Playstation-centric joints seem to like it more than the big boys like IGN, Gamespot and so on. I'm sure it's just coincidence...
Beyond the superficial things you just mentioned, Forza 5 is miles beyond Driveclub. It's a simulator with lots of nuts and bolts to tweak. Driveclub is an arcade game with unrealistic physics and no tweaking.
To my knowledge, studios get mock reviews of their titles when they are close to completion. This is a sort of professional "user testing" for them that allows them to guage where they are going to end up. If there are less then optimal findings in those mock reviews they can issue an embargo while they address some of the glaring issues. Those issues could be technical or gameplay related. Usually an embargo is not a good sign - though not always a harbinger of failure.
I too think the AI isn't good. It's very sterile. I haven't noticed any rubber banding. It just follows the exact racing line no matter what. If you are there it just rams you to be there so it can continue to take the same line. It never crashes, never deviates and is completely predictable. They are like robots. At least in F5 and Fh2 they do maneuvers to avoid crashes, or will switch their lines depending on how many cars are piled in. They also make mistakes, spin out etc. my ...
