The NX could still be great but Nintendo needs to make an effort both in terms of hardware, and online infrastructure, and they should get with the times and drop region locking since there's no reason for that to exist in 2015. Perhaps they should swap notes with MS and Sony and learn exactly how a modern system should be designed. If they can do that and still retain their classic Nintendo charm with their first party IPs, then I think they have a shot. But, as long as they don't...

I disagree that another rebranding for a system that has already been rebranded from the anti-gamer DRM machine it was initially would be more beneficial than its previous rebranding. Perhaps a change in its marketing in other regions would help a little, but I don't see it winning most regions. I think 2nd place is still a good position though. If anyone needs help it's Ninty with the WiiU.

I agree that VIII is a better FF game, but it's still a mystery to me why people think FFVII is so great. Maybe someone will have to explain that to me sometime. Perhaps the remake will win me over. I'm willing to at least give it a chance. I suppose FFVII is more in need of a remake since VIII and IX have a visual edge on it.

Multiple critical hits? I own all those systems but I'm not familiar with this guy. Has he even produced anything I've played?

I personally prefer physical copies, but I'm warming up to digital games. I have a number of digital only titles, and when it comes to older and hard to find games, I'm cool with just buying digital rather than tracking them down or waiting for Amazon to deliver them. I have exceptions of course. I'm OCD about owning physical ...

I'm really not sure what the purpose of this story is. It's clear that the author is an amateur. Every informed gamer knows that the "opening blows" if you will, always happen before E3. Also, was anyone really surprised to hear Sony had an Uncharted collection in the pipeline? It has been the worst kept secret since the launch of the PS4, and even if that wasn't the case, given the lack of b/c on the system and the high popularity of the Uncharted franchise coupled ...

Actually, SE has done pretty well lately...with Eidos. Tomb Raider was practically dead to all but a select few diehard fans until they got their hands on the IP. Eidos in general was headed for a reef until SE rescued them. However, SE seems to have lost their touch with what they're the most well known for, which is JRPGs. Actually, even that's not entirely true. Bravely Default is ok. If only modern FF games could have at least that level of quality to them. Oh well.

I think if Konami's smart, they're teasing and are actually planning on going through with Silent Hills afterall, with more hype generated than ever. Now whether I believe they're being smart is another thing entirely. I wish I could have more faith in the company that had a falling out with Kojima.

When I do become a parent, being a gamer will be advantageous since I'll already know about virtually any game my children express interest in. However, I'm also not naive enough to think I can 100% censor and/or restrict everything my kids come across. I own lots of M rated games, but I won't let them play most of those until they're at least of a reasonable age.

I won't rigidly follow the ESRB, but I won't need a rating to determine whether a gam...

The XB1 is not a victim of timing. Both systems came out a week apart. Both companies were geared up for a battle, and one company is currently on top. While we don't know how the future will play out, we can't say one company is a victim, least of all of timing. No, the initial PR from MS is what killed the system early on and it's still hobbling along from self-inflicted wounds, despite a really positive turnaround. If MS hadn't been so anti-gamer back in 2013, maybe th...

I knew most of these. I did not know the facts about the PS2 though. I had no idea the Iraqis tried to build a supercomputer with them(though I did know about the US military doing that with PS3s). I also had no idea that games on my PS2 memory card affected the towers in the startup screen. I didn't know that the Souls games inspired any features for the PS4. I knew everything else though.

I have the DS version and love it. Of course I would probably love any version of the game, except maybe the iOS version. Actually, even then it's hard not to recommend checking that version out for people who don't own a Nintendo or Sony device to play a proper version.

There was a time when I needed reviews, but at that stage I was transitioning from being a casual semi-hardcore gamer to an informed gamer and I wanted to try genres I had never experienced before. For what it's worth, they were quite helpful. It wasn't long before I learned to actually read reviews instead of just looking at the metascore, which is an arbitrary number at best, and eventually I got to the point where I didn't need reviews anymore because I was able to determine ...

The only people who love to hate a game that they've never played are those who want a certain console to slow down in sales so that their system of choice can be on top. The rest of us will wait and see what we think of the game when it releases.

Why are these articles even approved? I'm not even going to bother clicking the link. It will mean nothing for the PS4 since at the end of the day it's still the best selling of the three consoles and gamers can still purchase and enjoy The Order regardless of its sales figures, along with other PS4 exclusives that are in the pipeline. I want whatever the author of this article is smoking.

This swatting trend needs to stop. Not only is it an incredibly stupid idea, but there are too many consequences for the victims, not the least of which is risking their lives. Pulling a prank that wastes the time and resources of genuine emergency response teams is a crime, and I don't feel any sympathy for this kid who's doing jail time because of it. I read that other story where a guy's family had rifles pointed at them, including a 10 year old. I'm so glad I don't...

Agreed, I don't think this news means anything for PS4 owners in the short term. The games that were going to be ported to the PS4 will still be ported over to it, possibly with minor delays, and on the other side, it's doubtful the money from this sale will directly benefit gamers.

However, what's more significant is that the resources that would have been allocated to SOE won't be anymore, and that money can be used for the benefit of Playstation in a var...

I'm intrigued by the stealth/vigilante aspect. Of course, the team in a given Persona game has always operated independently of the police. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to come up with a concept where they have to operate outside of the law entirely, or where their activities are deemed illegal to the uninitiated.

I like that they appear to be operating at night. As much as I love Persona 4, having exploration set during the day is a real time hog since t...

I wish Sony or Ninty would come up with a handheld that has two L and R buttons, but in the meantime, this sounds like a good compromise for remote play with games that need it.

Even as a fan of the PS4, I'm glad competition is bringing out the best of both companies. The MS from a couple years ago that I absolutely hated seems to be gone, hopefully for good, and in its place is a company I'm actually slowly but surely coming to respect more and more. By the way, the XB1 doesn't need to outsell the PS4 to sell well. I don't think the positions are going to change anytime soon, but companies don't actually care about where they place in this ima...

RoFL. Ok, as a Sony fan, even I have to acknowledge that this AR thing is cool, but the author of this article needs a reality check. If true VR were a thing, on what planet would an AR interface make that obsolete? On the other hand, I don't see true VR being a thing for a while, though I'm open to seeing what can be done with Oculus and Morpheus.
