What amuses me is that Sega managed to create a better emulator for GameGear games on the 3DS than Nintendo did for their handheld games, even though the 3DS is Nintendo's system. I think I still prefer a the selection of games offered on Ninty's handhelds, but the GameGear emulator has more options, is simple to use, and options can be played around with in a convenient menu, including switching in and out of a 3D screen view. Heck, there are even options for the appearance of the ...
I happen to agree with this article. Not being able to re-download games if a system is lost, or broken, is simply unacceptable. They're way behind when it comes to all sorts of things. I could do without a trophy/achievement type system, but that's a deal breaker for some. Region locking the 3DS was a horrible idea, since that's a big step backwards from all previous handheld systems. Neither of their systems should be region locked anyways, since region locking is so 6th ge...
You might have a point there, but it's still kind of a contrived way to get more games on the Wii U, than its handheld counterpart. I do get the sense that Nintendo wants 3DS owners to want to invest in a Wii U. If I get a Wii U though, it won't be for those games. I want original content, and to be fair, Nintendo's first party strength is second to none, and they are slowly, but surely, building up an enticing library for the system.
I don't agree with N...
I think Sony won too, but indisputably? There's plenty of room for debate there, and it all depends on your preferences. After I heard about the Ace Attorney Trilogy and Fantasy Life, it was even closer than I initially thought. No Man's Sky stole the show for me though, and Batman: Arkham Knight was my favorite multiplat showing this year, so Sony clinched it for me. I'm intrigued by the new Uncharted too, but until I hear more about it, I can't make any definitive judgme...
Nail in the coffin? WTF? I'd like whatever the author is smoking. That said, the PS Now service doesn't really interest me at this point in time. Maybe if, and when it's worth my while, I'll give it a shot, but for now, it's mostly irrelevant to me.
I agree. It was pretty close this year, and now that I heard about the Ace Attorney Trilogy, and Fantasy Life, it's even closer, IMHO.
I don't like most MS exclusives, because from my standpoint, they're mostly either cookie cutter fps, sequels to franchises that were better before MS acquired them(Rare), sequels to franchises that are past their prime(Fable), or are just timed exclusives. There are a few select MS exclusives that intrigue me from time to time...
Yeah, I'm not denying that Nintendo did good this year. No Man's Sky is still my game of the show though. No one pulled any punches this year, so it was good all around. If you were to ask a bunch of different gamers directly, who they thought won, each of the big three are bound to come up at least once. They all justified their place in this industry. I will say that Nintendo did what they needed to do this year, and that was to come out swinging.
Multiplats do count, especially if they include exclusive content for one system, or play better on one system, but they don't earn a company as many points as a good exclusive, which cannot be played on another system. I think all three brought it this year. I still think Sony edged out a win, but no one had a bad presentation, and everyone brought some good games to the table.
Sony won for me. No Man's Sky, exclusive content for Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, and Uncharted 4 clinched it for me.
MS had a solid conference too, mind you. Most of their stuff was leaked prior though, and, for the most part, fondness of their first party IPs is a must, or it wasn't that great of a conference. However, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, and the few indie titles they announced, count for something. Too bad I don't care for Halo, Forza or Fable....
This^ I was ready to declare Sony the winner based on that alone, but then they kept going.;) MS won E3 if you're fond of MS's IPs, where, as expected, the usual suspects popped up. Otherwise, I was expecting MS to have an amazing conference this year, and was quite disappointed, aside from Sunset Overdrive(which we already knew about) and Project Spark. Sony had more to show that was unexpected. Their indie games showcased why indie games belong on the main stage with everything...
I wasn't expecting much TBH. I figured we'd hear more about it come E3 next year. Still, I was hoping I would be wrong. Oh well. At least we got some acknowledgement. Who am I kidding? This affirmation by Bioware sucked!
For this article, I was referring to leaks from reliable sources. I too, hate rumors like that. For example, "Some Cuban, black market, online store, lists such and such, so it must be happening." Me: "Unless they know something no one outside of said company knows, including high ranking industry professionals, then no." Sure, some rumors are about games that are legitimately in the pipeline, but the studios behind them will announce them when they're ready. I a...
Most people who wanted a 8th gen console right away, have one. There are a few who haven't been able to afford one, who'll be excited by this news, but a lot of gamers are holding off on investing in a new system altogether, until more games are out. A price drop alone, isn't likely to win over the numbers MS is looking for. They need games. I'm sure they'll deliver on E3 announcements, but if the XB1 sells, that'll be the reason why, not the price drop, which only...
This news is months old. That's several eternities in game news time. This was news when Danganronpa 1 hit store shelves here. That said, I'm looking forward to it, and am glad it's coming over here.
I think both companies will have solid conferences this year, and I'm not just saying that for the sake of sounding neutral. Based on what's leaked so far, as well as what has been teased, I think both companies will have quite a bit to announce. The Master Chief Collection is sure to earn MS a lot of points, and as indifferent I am towards Halo, it is a heavy hitter, and such a solid collection cannot be dismissed.
I'm interested to find out what Sony has pla...
I've heard about this one. I'm looking forward to it.
I wish the second game was released on the NA PSN. Didn't stop me though. I don't take bs like that lying down. I just hopped on over to the UK store, and got it from there, even though it only works on my psp. I love both games, and I was surprised to find out that they hold up surprisingly well. Too bad the memory card transfer doesn't work with the UK versions, which are ironically, ports of the NA versions. Oh well. I was able to play through both games, and that's ...
To be fair, the retro selection on all three major systems could use more games. Nintendo doesn't seem to have any quality control with their selection, mind you, with great classics like Milon's Secret Castle, and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, in the mix, while other, better titles, are left out. To answer this question: yes, I think they are. A NES game costs about $5 on VC. For $1 more, you can get a PS1 classic off of PSN. A SNES title will set you back $8, with N64 game...
It depends in what you would consider no gameplay. A straight up visual novel is a ludo-narrative that involves little more than scrolling through text, and sometimes making choices that affect the outcome of the story. The Hakuoki games are a prime example of this. Based on observation though, most visual novels incorporate elements of other genres, for the occasional gameplay sequence, which is especially true, on average, for most visual novels we get in NA. There is such a thing in Ja...
Well, if and when I get a decent gaming PC, I will certainly avoid anything with Nvida cards. I don't support companies who act like children, and can't be classy with the competition.
