Good thing I’m a multi-system owner. Also, the Switch does have good indie support. But yeah, it’s been a slow period for Nintendo, and even the new Animal Crossing update has done little to keep me interested.

No more than any other form of entertainment owes its consumer. To entertain for a length of time.

Yeah...I suppose AC games are ok recommendations to those who can only afford one game and want to get as much out of it as they can, but while I do occasionally go for 100% completion in games, that's almost never something I do with AC games.

It usually doesn't take long for me to figure out what side content seems like an interesting enough diversion and what seems like a complete waste of time. Like, bruh, if I want a management sim there are far more engaging ...

I'm all for having optional things to do in a game. I'm not so much for it being boring and pointless. Technically it's more content regardless, but I'd much rather a game respect my time by having content that's actually...good. I don't have all the time in the world that I used to, but I have no qualms about spending my free time enjoying one of my favourite hobbies. I just ask that in return, the time I dedicate to a game feels worthwhile. Pointless filler is a...

I still haven't checked this out, but apparently it's one of the best AA games of the generation. Maybe I'll have to remedy that. Also, I have had a morbid fascination with past pandemics as of late, for reasons that should be apparent.

Well, we're already playing the same MMO as Tier Zoo anyways. I have a fondness for some of the included sub-games though.

I both do and don't wish that existed. It makes sense that such technology would require one to be induced sleep to do its job, but apparently it can also potentially trap one in the game world. I mean, science doesn't explain that part, so maybe that particular drawback wouldn't be an issue in practice. I do wonder what kind of neurological effects a system like that could realistically have though.

Oh well, if I'm going to burn out my retinas playing ...

And we can thank Western influence for infecting the Japanese mindset. I guess Europe's the only place now that isn't overly puritanical. I say this as someone who has grown up with and holds puritanical values, and actually am far more desensitized to over the top violence, probably because I see that in games all the time.

I don't have a complete understanding of what Japan's rules are, mostly because I haven't dug too deep into the topic. I do know that there were bills passed in 2011 and 2014 that restrict that kind of content. It doesn't seem like manga was affected too badly given those manga magazines I inadvertently purchased when I was in Japan back in 2016. I can say, that Zozozo Zombie-Kun chapter in particular is beyond disturbing, and I don't think you'd believe me if I tol...

They've certainly become more apprehensive about explicit content over the past decade.

Inflation isn't something that can be fought off indefinitely. Maybe we can do something to delay it, but games will not be $60USD forever. That's not how capitalism works.

If game prices go up, I've made my peace with the idea. I will, however, be even more selective about which games I buy at launch. The sky isn't falling though.

The first (or I guess only) season is still very much recommended, as are the comics that I only have four deluxe editions of so far. But, yeah. A season 2 would be amazing.

Well, it's not as though power is the Switch's selling point, so I think it will continue to do just fine. It's already well known that a PlayStation or Xbox (or PC) is a much better choice for graphically impressive games, and though that will be even more true when the new systems hit, the Switch was never the recommended option for those who are all about pretty graphics first and foremost. If Nintendo wants to ensure their system's continued success they should just doub...

I think critics and gamers at the time were a bit harsh on what was essentially just a quirky puzzle platformer. I enjoyed it just fine, but it's not as if I went into it with lofty expectations. I think because it was a launch title, people were expecting something that really showed off the PS4 hardware and delivered something more substantial. On the other hand, a game like that probably wouldn't have gotten much attention at all had it not been a launch title.

I'm not surprised. Of course a PC can outshine consoles, but with more up front cost. Consoles tend to have a balance of hardware and price, probably because a $2000 console likely wouldn't do very well. Moreover, articles like this make me think I'm doing PC gaming wrong when I look at my Steam collection consisting largely of indie games and VNs that wouldn't even push the Switch's hardware.

Bruh, we're not illiterate you know. Games can have digital manuals, and some actually do. But, that is a good point, and it's a terrible idea for games to completely forego any attempt to explain their mechanics to players. Loading screen tips are just one possible way to convey information to players though. I've played plenty of games that don't do that anyways, as well as plenty where the tips are useless things that anyone with a working brain could figure out. I don...

That is definitely a possibility. There's something to be said for good game design. Not all devs can think outside the box like that though.

I used to love those. They were also kind of like mini art books. Modern gamers don't know what they're missing.
