The concept behind this game sounds more reminiscent of the creativity behind Sony's Studio Cambridge, which eventually became Guerrilla Cambridge, and is now a development studio under the umbrella of Guerrilla Games. The studio was most well known for the Medievil series, and I'm personally quite fond of Primal. If any of the staff behind those games is still around, they work under Guerrilla now.
Great read. I disagree about one thing though. Rune Factory does not contain everything that makes the Harvest Moon series great. Sure, it has eligible bachelorettes, but there's no heart system, and they pretty much fall in love with you instantly, once you find their favorite item. The love system us my favorite aspect of the Harvest Moon games, but it's not even there in spirit in Rune Factory, since it lacks all the fun of it. Sure, it has dungeon crawling, and sim aspects, a...
I'm liking the sound of this game so far. Dino Crisis comes to mind, if only because it's a dinosaur game with a red-headed female lead. I, for one, am glad Gurerilla is taking a chance on a female lead. I think the stigma attached to female leads needs to die a horrible death. In other media, people aren't afraid to produce a story with a female lead, so why should videogames be any different? In fact, if gamers keep setting arbitrary boundaries like that, then it's kind...
I agree. Personally, I think it's a little refreshing to play a classic fps, and compare it to the modern brand of fps. Some elements of Doom might be limited compared to more modern games, but overall, I think it's still a blast to play, even though it can be difficult at times.
I kind of abandoned this series I started, but the first article can be found on my blog, here: http://landofgaming.net/?p=...
To be fair, it isnt even listed on the main page of new games, when it hit the NA PS Store, even though other vita titles are. This release seems to have snuck up on everyone. Even Metacritic hasn't touched it. Oh well. It's out now.
I feel for my fellow gamers in Europe. I too, would probably be big on importing, if I lived over there, especially if you often get digital only releases of games available physically here. At least you get a more or less simulta...
Wow. That's great of Sony. It's also a great way to get more indie devs(or dojinshi devs, if you want to be pedantic) on board to support the PS4.
You and me both.:( On the plus side, I've been picking up more shifts at my job lately, so I should be able to afford it soon.
The PS4 is in a much better position right now than the One. A killer blow would be impossible. A move that could close the gap is possible, so I'm intrigued enough to find out what MS has up their sleeve, but they can't operate on the assumption that Sony has nothing planned. If anything, all Sony needs is a massive announcement, and they'll have a killer blow in the pipeline. MS's best bet is to raise their shields to help deflect it.
Not all English dubs are horrible. Some are. It really depends on the studio. Some companies just can't find the right voice actors, and end up hiring people who either don't fit the character, or just aren't good voice actors, but some do a really good job.
Anyways, this game is going to have dual audio, so it doesn't matter where you stand on dubs vs. subs. XSeed normally just sticks with Japanese only audio. It looks like they partnered with another ...
Everyone so far has made good points. As I said, maybe all the hours I've put into my blog, in addition to everything else in my life, is starting to affect my brain. Of all the companies I could feel bad for, I've felt bad for MS lately, for some reason. They did make some bad choices, but once those choices were made, they couldn't escape the consequences, no matter what they did. But, they're doing just fine, and I guess there are worse things than bad press. I think I...
Yeah, I don't like MS, and haven't in years. Only every other OS of theirs is well regarded, in a remarkably perfect, alternating pattern, with 8 being one of the ones people don't like so much. In general, MS's tactic of forcing things on the consumer needs to stop, and if it doesn't, recent history suggests that we as consumers can change that, by not buying their products until they're forced to make changes.
Apparently, Kinect had to be shoved d...
Sony and Nintendo are clearly better suited to different markets, and one could argue that Nintendo doesn't know the console market very well anymore, but yeah, they do know their stuff when it comes to the handheld market.
Sony's obviously approaching the vita from a Japanese perspective. Japan's work culture supposedly makes them so busy that handhelds are more popular, since they can be played on the train. There are people in NA who are also too busy to fit ...
I didn't actually know about those ads. I live in Canada though, so maybe the ads here are different, or maybe they are around, but I just haven't seen them. I have seen the less funny ads, calling the system the ultimate entertainment hub, or something. That second one is hilarious. I can see a Japanese company coming up with that, due to English not being their first language, but not on this continent, where they have NA people working for them. I certainly can't see an Am...
I was able to learn the motion controls, so the problem was definitely not me. It was just painful to play for more than a short while, hence why I hate it. My wrists were killing me within half an hour. Such a terrible control scheme should never have been conceived of. Games are supposed to be comfortable to play, not painful, and they shouldn't discriminate against the dexterity impaired. I hate 99.99% of motion control, and fail to see why it even needs to exist when regular cont...
Indie games are so important to Playstation, because Playstation is about variety. Playstation has always been home to a big variety of IPs, across virtually all genres. Sony was smart to set up an avenue for indie devs to produce content for their system, without Sony having to do very much on their end. It's a win-win. And, no, it does not have any bearing on the rate of AAA games being produced. That is a myth.
What a studio like Zoink does, has nothing to do wi...
Interesting read. The unfortunate thing about videogames, or any kind of media actually, is that sometimes planned content has to be cut. At least it beats entirely canceled games. That character should have been left in GTA III. People who have nothing better to do with their life than raise issue over fictional media, because the entire concept of entertainment eludes them, were always going to hate the series, and did. Actually, they still do, and even use GTA as leverage to outright b...
This.^ I don't see the problem with preserving the classics through re-releases. Also, different teams handle these re-releases anyways, and heck, they are often outsourced to other studios entirely, so they do not affect the rate at which new titles are produced.
That's a good point. They actually were liars in that sense. I was thinking more along the lines of Kinect, and DRM, working as policies, because they really did intend for the One to be built around them, but I do remember them saying that they were absolutely integral to the One, so yeah, that was a lie.
I can't believe I forgot Infamous. That would actually be one of the best collections Sony could release. It would probably fall under my number five slot, since it is technically a collection that already exists, but a PS4 version would be awesome, as would a collection that includes Second Son. The purpose of this post, was to stir up conversation, so as long as it has accomplished that, my personal blunder doesn't bother me too much. Believe it or not, I'm my worst critic, ...
I'm with Nintendo on this one. I'm a straight guy, but I'm pro gay-rights. However, Ninty has come out and said that homosexual relationships are not a part of the original program, and that it would be too difficult for them to implement them in the game. It's not a case of Ninty being discriminatory, and removing a feature, just to smite a certain group, like all the articles making them out to be the bad guy, are implying.
Keep in mind, the series was ...
