While I don't care much for the Xbox brand, how does the Scorpio being the most powerful console make it outdated? What kind of drug does the reader have to take to make this article make sense? Also, "functional variety" seems to be a synonym of "innovation", which in the realm of gaming means "forced gimmicks". There's nothing wrong with classic style gameplay, especially when it accompanies great visuals, and it's far more mechanically sound th...
I can't imagine anyone who knows anything about JRPGs or Japanese games in general would be dumb enough to turn to the XB1 for more than ultra mainstream stuff like Final Fantasy. Besides, if I were a dev and very few people in my country bought a system, I'd probably not bother developing for it.
Well, I have a PS4 for that. I don't know about switching but I recently acquired a gaming PC, so between the PC/PS4 combo I just don't see the point in shelling out for a Scorpio, especially if even MS wants to focus more on PC game development.
Yeah, affordability is a key factor to take into consideration. My Asus laptop that I purchased during Boxing Week has an AMD Radeon graphics chip, and a 15 inch screen, and it only set me back just over C$600. I doubt it can even hold a candle to high end desktops or even high end laptops on the market right now, but it's a steal for the price I paid.
The PS4 Pro is even less expensive and would definitely interest me if I didn't already own a PS4, but then I...
The weird design is for VC support for older titles across a wide variety of systems. Downloadable Wii U games will require the tablet design while turning the tablet sideways can work for DS and 3DS titles, which I hope to see on the Switch as well. It certainly has the makings of a decent legacy console if Nintendo plays their cards right, and Switch software support could be solid if Ninty isn't trying too hard to be gimmicky and win over the casual crowd again.
I suppose it is, but software is needed for sales. Unless MS has something up its sleeve, the Scorpio is only going to appeal to the Halo, Gears and Forza crowd. Power is not the main reason why the PS4 is in the lead right now. It's because it has decent software support across a variety of genres. The sooner MS gets that, the sooner they can get back to being viable competition for Sony in the console market.
I'm not implying that the Scorpio doesn't hav...
Someone should save a link to this for the next time someone is dumb enough to post an article about whether Sony should be afraid of the Scorpio and/or Switch.
The Scorpio's supposed to have even more power so I doubt making its games look nice by today's standards is going to be a problem. It will all be moot if decent software support isn't there, mind you.
Because while their consoles haven't been doing so hot lately, their handhelds have always done just fine. In fact, that's probably a huge reason why the Switch is designed with portability in mind. It's the same reason why MS wants to make their consoles more PC-like: because that's where they've had the most success.
It's possible that Ninty will go third party if they reach the end of their rope, and indeed the Switch may be their last chance ...
Worried about what? Selling too many PS4s? The Scorpio doesn't launch until the end of the year and the current XB1 is no match for the PS4. Ninty has an entirely new system lined up but given their track record they have their work cut out for them if they want to sell core gamers on it. Until such time as either company provides viable competition, Sony's just going to kick back and enjoy the steady revenue they get from PS4 console and software sales.
As a PS4 owner I've been enjoying this gen just fine.
I honestly don't know what to think about RE7 at this point. I even wrote an article on the subject: http://n4g.com/news/2010065...
However, I stand by my assertion that I'll hold off on making any definitive judgement until I finally play it. I've heard mixed things from various people who claim to be longtime series fans from before the series became an ac...
Reggie is only the head of the NA branch of the company, but that's interesting regardless. I think the Switch is a last-ditch effort to stay relevant in the console market while combining the best of their console and handheld systems, only the latter of which they've done reasonably well with. I can see Ninty holding onto the handheld market, especially since Sony has pulled out of it as they would be the only ones producing a dedicated handheld system. As far as consoles though....
PlayStation will...keep selling PS4s at an impressive rate.
It means something to some people. It's only less relevant when compared side by side with the PS4, but really that's the nature of all cult systems when compared with their more successful counterparts. The Vita is very much relevant to me as fan of Japanese and indie IPs, but the 3DS greatly eclipsed it in sales. The XB1 is very much relevant to FPS and racing fans. In both cases it's a matter of certain system's offerings being tailored to certain genres and types of ga...
Interesting. This guy claims to have been a fan of the series since day 1. I wonder if 7 will impress someone who prefers the older titles and Revelations games. I wasn't impressed by the demo but maybe the full product will be different,
I must admit I've been pretty weary of the first person perspective, and gameplay wise the demo didn't really feel very Resident Evil. That said I'll still give the game a chance and reserve my final judgment until I've actually played through the whole thing. As it stands though, it seems that Resident Evil is now called Revelations. I'm looking forward to the remake of RE2 regardless. I'm still kind of hoping 7 will sell me on its gameplay like 4 did in spite of ...
Well, this article sums up the reason why I've been firmly in camp PlayStation for four gens now. I've owned all of them, including handhelds, and the only one I don't still own is the PS1. I still don't own an Xbox and have no plans to. I recently got a decent gaming laptop too, so I have most of my bases covered anyways.
As much as I want Ninty to stick around in the console market, I just don't see the Switch selling 40 million units in 3 years.
I'd act surprised, but I'm not. The Wii U was hardly a success, and while the Switch may be, it just launched while the PS4 has an install base that clearly eclipses both systems by a large margin. So, though Zelda may be a household name while Horizon: Zero Dawn is a new IP, the latter was still well promoted and most people just needed the game since they already own the system to play it on.
That said, I hope the Switch does well and this data doesn't pro...
