Well, compared to the English dub of Cardcaptor Sakura's "who speaks Japanese", I'll take references to characters speaking Japanese even when they're clearly speaking English. It is a little odd, but can be swept under the rug. There are pros and cons to changing the script for a stylistic translation, but I support keeping it intact as I've seen the alternative. On the other hand, Sakura is kind of right as who really does speak Japanese in an English dub? Unfo...
I would expect no less than a perfect 10.
Seems to me that in the latter case some stylistic translation is necessary. Then again, even common words like "chotto" require stylistic translation, but that also technically means a higher ratio of inaccuracy compared to the original Japanese script. I once read in some manga translation notes that "translation is more art than science", and I believe that to be true even in what little I've done in trying to translate manga or videogames for my own purposes. ...
I stopped reading when the author said that people never say "it can't be helped". So, I guess every time I've ever said that I wasn't talking like a person? Also, he offered a few alternatives, some of which are semantically equivalent, and are hence splitting hairs.
I do respect this person for what they do though. I've been kind of haphazardly trying to get Japanese down for a while now as it would open up so many doors to me, entertainment w...
And every possible reason to get one is invalidated if it doesn't have better software support than the XB1 currently has. Thanks, but I'll stick to playing Persona 5 on my PS4 Classic.
Is it weird that Coco was one of my childhood fictional character crushes?
5 perks to physical games sticking around:
Cool physical collector's editions and pre-order bonuses.
Having something nice to look at on your shelves.
You don't have to "deactivate" a system to access your purchased game on more than two.
Can often be cheaper (it doesn't happen all the time, but it does sometimes).
Having a cool physical retro collection adds prestige to your game collection, whereas digital copies do not.

Persona 5 is amazing, I'll give it that. Plus it reminds me of my trip to Japan. Come to think of it, it's been almost a year and I'm still not proficient enough at Japanese to read that stack of manga magazines or play through the PSP games I brought back. Oh well, guess I'm stuck playing my English dubbed JRPG. Good thing it's awesome.
Well, I'm sure the Scorpio will indeed be considerably more powerful than the PS4, but yeah, exclusives are what make systems worth owning over their competitors. I'm glad to share Mass Effect: Andromeda with my Xbox brethren, but it pains me that they won't get to experience the arguably superior Persona 5. I guess what it comes down to is, invest in the systems with the exclusives you want to play. For me that's the PS4, regardless of whether it's the "king"...
Great list, and thank you. I have no beef with Final Fantasy but I think it gets way too much credit, especially when there are plenty of other great JRPG series out there.
Great guide. Pity it's a tad late for me as I'm already past Madarame's part. Still, it could be useful for those checking out the game for the first time.
Man, this is definitely one of the top 10 things only gamers understand. If I lost my save I'd be upset but I'd play it all over again as I love this game. If my Andromeda save were to be lost I'd probably just abandon the game altogether...
Both are great games IMHO, but there's just no question. Andromeda is a slightly subpar entry in its series while Persona 5 is a great entry in its series. It's not even worth comparing as it's a one-sided massacre.
Indeed. Great games don't need to be "saved". It is kind of a disappointment when compared to its predecessors, but a slightly subpar Mass Effect game is still better than the best games in some franchises IMHO, though that could just be because I hold Mass Effect in such high regard.
Agreed. Gamers can be quite dramatic sometimes. Besides, Andromeda is a new excellent game, it's just a slightly subpar Mass Effect game.
Maybe, but one thing I give PS4 ports is that they're not just straight ports. It's possible, just not likely as there also needs to be a market for playing old Socom games online vs. a modern CoD game.
Yeah, clearly. I mean, it's good that the games will be available on the PS4, and they more than justify the price tag IMHO, but I got the PS3 collection a long time ago for $20 for all three games, trophies included. I think someone thinks I'm implying the PS4 ports are a bad idea. I think it's great, but dat inflation...
I'm not an Xbox fan, but how could a non-sentient machine even be "worried" about another non-sentient machine? The headline makes no sense.
That's good, but the PS3 and Vita already have an HD collection for this series. They could port that over, unless they're really just trying for a money grab as it will cost more to buy all of the PS4 ports of the game and there's no physical option. At least we'll be getting Jak X, so that's worth looking forward to as I don't think that was available before on any previous system...aside from the PS2 itself of course.
I actually consider Ashe the main character as her arc is central to stopping the impending war. Vaan and Penelo lack personality, but I think they're meant to be stand-ins for the player as rather than being the main heroes they're merely along for the ride. It's a literary device that's not commonly seen in games, probably because there's something inherently more engaging about being the main hero in a medium where the player is in control of a character, but I think ...
