Well, Nintendo threw their hat in the ring and I don't want to stir the pot. The Wii U flopped more than the Vita though, which says a lot. On the other hand, I do kind of want the Switch to be successful. I don't have it out for Nintendo, just some of the decisions they've made in recent gens.

Because MS are a bunch of cheapos who don't know what gamers want? Spoiler: it's games.

Nice! I knew the PS4 was dominating, but the fact that it has more than 50% of the console marketshare in spite of having two competitors says a lot. On the other hand, this article doesn't include the Switch, which has been much more successful thus far than its predecessor. I'd be interested to see the sales charts that include that.

I think Sony's in an amazing position right now, and if they should decide to announce even a $50 price drop on the Pro at PSX or something closer to the launch of the XB1X, their system will be a good $150 cheaper, and also $50 cheaper than the Switch. Yeah, that's right, they will be undercutting both their competitors. It wouldn't make sense for them to announce a price drop yet because they can enjoy $50 more profit until they do.

We've been deluded into anticipating photorealism in each upcoming gen. I'll believe it when it happens. Oh, and marks off for being yet another PS5 article. Even if the PS5 will deliver photorealism, it doesn't exist yet, so it's really just a hypothetical construct. So...sure. Something that doesn't exist can do whatever we imagine it can do, because there's no point in imagining something that doesn't exceed our wildest dreams...unless you have a drab imagi...

Yes and no. AAA games to this day still rely heavily on what sells, and if a studio takes a risk, it puts potential dollars on the line that it could easily reap just by doing what it usually does. On the other hand, there are plenty of AAA titles that do go above and beyond, and I don't think Naughty Dog for example, has ever fallen into the trap I've outlined above.

AAA refers to titles that have large budgets and are produced by big name studios, but each stu...

Uncharted 4, Persona 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn are out. Go play them. You can keep waiting for the "very best PS4 games" if you want, but some are already out, so you can do the gamer thing and pick up a controller or you can just keep posting on N4G. The choice is yours.

Maybe, but why all the articles about the PS5 lately? What's wrong with the PS4? A more powerful Xbox is coming but that's not going to play PS4 exclusives and is really just a mid-gen upgrade of a system already out. Just enjoy what the current gaming landscape has to offer and wait till a PS5 is actually announced. Seriously, it's starting to get ridiculous.

The author's got that right. I don't mind PSN though. I guess with the X they also added graphics to the equation. As someone with a 1080P TV and no desire to upgrade anytime soon though, I have to stick with the system that plays greats like Persona 5 and the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. I don't need a new system to play the same multiplats I can play without spending an extra $500, and I personally enjoy a lot of games that it won't play, so I'll just comfortably...

Um...what's with the site name? It's like they don't want gamers to check it out.

MS lost this gen...but they don't need to be first to profit.

Well, PCs are for the "techy" crowd who probably have a $5000 4K TV and the best gaming rig they can afford. Money is no object for them, so console gaming isn't for them either. They're also more about counting pixels than actual gaming. Ok, I also know quite a few people who won't touch consoles because they like the convenience and vast library of Steam, and they're not those so-called "techy" types as they are truly gamers in every sense of the word ...

Seriously? What noobs. That said, it's hard to believe that as a kid I got all the gems in Crash 2 and 3 without the extra hints or the Internet to help me. I think I was at least twice the gamer I am now. At least I succeeded in getting 100% in the first two games and am now partway into Warped, even if I did have to look up a faq or two.

You got the platinum?! I gave up on the relics because getting through only six stages without dying is hard enough, let alone getting through all stages without dying and also having to do it quickly on top of it. I'm not enough of a masochist to go through all the frustration it would take to do it, but anyone who does and succeeds has my respect, for sheer patience and determination. Oh, and 2 is still hard but...it's hard to explain but it's a more fair hard. Like, it does...

Now I kind of want to see CTTR and CB, and maybe the 6th gen releases remade, but let's forget about the more recent "Crash" titles that are a disservice to the classics. Yes, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, and I also hope for a Spyro the Dragon Trilogy, but here's hoping the N. Sane Trilogy is just a precursor of things to come.

I never did play Crash 1 back in the day and only got a little bit into it on the PS3 download a few years ago, so playing it in this collection was a source of frustration, but I got through it. Thankfully you only have to complete the stages with special gems without dying, and you're allowed to die in the bonus stages just nowhere else, but those six stages man...I never want to see them again. I think I recall the original game actually requiring the player to beat all stages withou...

What is with all these PS5 articles lately? Either people know something I don't or it's all just unsubstantiated conjecture. Oh, and all the PS5 has to do to beat the XB1X is to be a next gen system, which the X isn't. If MS throws out a new console as well then the PS5 will be in competition with that, but not the X.

Actually, come to think of it, maybe it would be a good time to announce a new system soon given that the competition is only just releasing...

You mean the PS5 that hasn't been so much as announced? I'm sure Sony will roll out a new console when they're ready but there's no point in speculating what it will be like until we have at least some kind of official word on it.

They have worked just fine for the PS4 as of late. For some reason they haven't worked as well for other consoles...could install base have something to do with it?

And they were right. We did have to play the waiting game. But one key difference is that we knew all along that we would be getting Rise of the Tomb Raider eventually whereas with this Crash collection it's currently possible but still unconfirmed. Moreover, there are a couple minor Naughty Dog references that may or may not need to be edited out in the event of an Xbox release. I'm not saying it won't happen, so you're very much welcome to hold your breath on that, but I...
