Mh - as per usual the differences are negligable, you buy it on the platform you prefer.

Yes, there are exremely subtle differences: At the beggining the dynamic pulsing light that affects the ceiling is a lot more pronounced on the 360 version - but it actually makes it look wrong as the lighting on the adjacent wall is almost static. The fade on PS3 smoke particle effects lasts slightly longer in some of the scenes. The blood particles on the 360 are differenty and produce a ...

Like most people my 20gig drive is simply not enough to justify the install, and the reduced load times hardly make it worth the while.

HOWEVER - one of the most annoying things about the 360 is extraordinary racket the drive makes as you are playing. Not an issue during the day when you can have the volume up, but when my wife goes to bed and I want to turn the volume way down, its almost impossable. HD install stops any DVD noise, and its quite appealing for that reason alone...

Whilst I'd conceded that the track list is not as killer as it could be, it's still far preferable to me than the drivel on Rock Band 1 (I've yet to play RB2) and certainly for the guitar, the note layouts are far superior and more engaging.

That the series would move away from total guitar domination was always going to be the case once other instruments were introduced, but they've done a reasonable choice of picking tracks that keep everyone interested in playing, and I've t...

@Swiftfox

Your analogy of a fighting game is simply flawed. That a bout only lasts for minutes is absolutely true, but I still play good fighting games with my friends for years after they are released. They are the very definition of a multiplayer game, and as such, have many hundred of hours of entertainment in them.

This title doesn't. There is hardly any incentive to replay a level once you have completed it.

I can't disagree that the 6 hours it offe...

@ thor - I understand what you are saying, but I think you miss the point I was trying to make.

Not having any multiplayer simply means that the game needs to be very engaging in single player to be considered 'value for money'. With the single player campaign being so short, that makes this title one of the most expensive I've ever played in terms of hours of fun per pound spent, and that should surely be a factor in any review?
If a full priced game offered the best thril...

Whilst I love the game and what they are trying to do - 6 hours with no multiplayer precludes this from being a "9" on value for money alone.

Given the other high profile reviews recently, its quite plain to see that this site is way off the mark and is incredibly inconsistent with its scoring.

Still - I'd urge you to rent this, as its really satisfying while it lasts. I have the full game on 360 and just the demo for comparison on PS3, but it looks pretty ...

I don't see how this can be considered surprising?

Gears is one of the best selling games of all time and a proven franchise!

..and of course, the 360 still has a significantly larger installed base in the UK.

It would have been extremely worrying for MS if Gears hadn't outsold LBP! :)

Why have we a blogspot chart guess submitted as news??

Its not as if he's even been close to getting it right - its a guess, based on no evidence or news, and no better than any other wild speculation written in these comment pages.

Reported as blog..

There are simply no reliable sales figures available for anyone to call how well this has sold.
The delay before launch meant that some early copies got released, but this hardly represents proper sales figures!
Its been available here in the UK for less than a week!
The game will shift huge numbers, and as such, will show all the stupid people who jump on such falimbait non-news articles as this, how very wrong and misguided they are. Look at the huge figures that will be ...

SNP - you are completely right of course.

The kind of lame excuses that sidar or durffen give for acting like trolling idiots are simply that - poor excuses.

"I despise people for carrying knifes on the street so I'm going to carry a knife on the street so I can stab em when I meet them."
The above statement is exactly what they are saying:
"I despise the kind of troll replies on this site, so I'm going to be a trolling moron".

That must mean you think Mariah Carey is the greatest singer of all time? She has had 18 no1 singles, so seeing as you have no brain of your own and equate 'sales' with 'value' that must be true? If you lived in the UK you'd obviously read 'the Sun' as its the biggest selling newspaper and therefore must be the best, right?

Only sheep follow the flock. If you like to bleat, be my guest!
But some of us have enough brain power to assess for our own needs...

What a pathetic point of view. Its a few weeks late, and copyright and offensive material gets removed so your having a teenage hissy fit?

I swear, this place and users like you never fail to provide amusement at the state of maturity of the youth. If you'r not a teenager..its even more sad..

Don't buy the game. You don't deserve to see what a masterpiece it is. No one will miss you.

Of course levels that infringe on copyright are being removed??

Only a complete cretin would think otherwise! :)
How amusing that those who love to prophasize doom are moaning that 'this means the end'! If it means the end to the procession of ignorant people simply attaching a known IP onto a poorly designed level, then that's the very thing the community needs! People can, and will, design levels based on their own ideas, and the success of level will be not because its ...

You can only agree :)

I do try not to buy into hype, but this game has left my household humming tunes and smiling more than almost any other game has.
I fully expect to be playing this game still next year, and I don't say that about a lot of games.
Initial frustrations with the controls are simply a learning curve - you simply can't yank the controls about like you would on a traditional platformer, as the in and out of screen mechanic will make you pay for that! On...

No point in trying to hold an intelligent conversation in here mate!
This is N4G, where punters either want to sing the praises of their adopted machine, or slag off the other guys preferred platform.
Any other kind of post is ignored!

Anyone with mental age above 10, could understand that this piece is trying to asses the impact of the title on 'the general public' - not the kind of kiddie frothers that inhabit these pages. With the bulk of the 'hardcore' gamers alr...

Hmmm - I wander how many of you will still love it when you've had a chance to play the real thing for a decent length of time?
Its been out on the pirate scene for over a week, and many who've played it for a while got bored quickly - including me I'm afraid.

It does look great and it certainly adds the kind of diversity that MS are trying to encourage, so do give it a try if you like the demo. but in a couple of years time, when you are looking back at memorable games of...

I can only agree with the original comment.

I actually prefer the first title. This one is still absolutely linear - there's no sense of freedom at all, and the game really feels on rails.
Whilst they have tried to inject more of a story, I find it very weak and I simply don't care at all about the characters.
Core gameplay is the same, but if if ain't broke, don't fix it and I'm happy enough with that! Graphically it looks great too, so no complaints their.

With MS owning Halo exclusivity, any such move to embrace other machines would be new IP.

I for one, would grateful. I thought Halo 3 was a bit 'tired' and I'd like to see these undoubtedly talented developers spread their wings a bit and bring us something new.
I still can't believe MS's first party policy. Lionhead is a winner, but the only other team left is Rare, and they really aren't setting the world alight with their releases (though I enjoy them!) Having made such ...

What a pathetically biased and completely ignorant viewpoint you have.

Like any real gamer, I play my games on all platforms.

Though I haven't finished either game yet, I am playing both titles.

So Far, GOW2 is feeling over-rated to me, though I'm hoping for improvement in the later levels. It just feels so much 'on rails' - no freedom. R2, is at least its equal in terms of feel and scope for me.

Both titles will have to wait though as LBP ...

Absolutely. I barely bother to comment any more it so pathetic.

Those of us with a brain of our own actually play these things and decide for ourselves what we like and don't like - people quoting metacritic scores like they are the final say on a games worth are pathetic fashion followers incapable of enjoying anything unless the rest of the world tells them it OK to like it.

Some of my favourites of all time didn't review well, and some of the best reviewed gam...
