If your skillset is in PC development, then its much easier to use tools you've always been used to, and an architecture thats easier to understand as so 'PC like'.
Ramping up for PS3 development would require the hiring of some new engine coders, and thats prohibitive for a smaller developer. It's better that they concentrate on making one good console version rather than squander limited resources trying to produce a conversion for a platform they don't have any expertise in. We've h...
You've every right to your opinion of course, but the 'live feature updates' are pretty lame for most people. The only reason they had to get Last Fm, twitter and facebook intergrated is that they don't have a browser. Ps3 owners can use all these sites and any other one too, and have been doing so for years.
Still, theres something to look forward to from all the major players, so as an owner of all machines, E3 had plenty to make me happy. :)
I'm looking forward to this game and wait for it anticipation.
Like many with a 20 gig model 360, I hope the HD install isn't very large, as I have little capacity left! :)
However it does strike me as ironic that the same people who continually dissed the PS3 for HD installs are in here saying "no problem as you can install it on HD". You can't have it both ways. Never had an issue with HD installs myself, but then I game on a PC as well, and HD installs to me...
This has been on my list for a long time now, as it looks damn cool!
Glad its going to be available to more people now...hopefully it will be as good as I want it to be! :)
WRC rally modes - and NASCAR too! Yum yum, I want it.
I'll dust of my Wii for this one.
Rest of their conference didn't grab me, but you can't be a real gamer and not be excited by an in-house Mario title! :)
Its a great announcement, and a real coup if they can deliver for the bulk of the users! But realistically you have to wander if this will be limited to all but those on seriously fast connections though. It doesn;t matter how fast MS can get its servers to push the data out, the bottle neck is at the user end..
I'll be very intrigued to see more tech details!
The technology was awesome. Like many of you, I've yet to be convinced on the merits of jumping about in front of my telly when I want to game, and though I was dully impressed at the resolution of the motion capture and its responsiveness, I didn't think it would affect the way I game much...
...... until the lionhead demo. That level of interaction and involvement was utterly breathtaking and anyone with imagination can see the huge possibilities that this has for evolving interactiv...
Not really big news, the Ps3 has always worked better for me than the 360 for media serving from my networks.
It appears to be different for some of you above, but my experiences, and the seeming consensus, is that the Ps3 is the superior media hub.
The fact its regularly improved with updates is the icing on the cake. :)
I remember reading 'do we need more than 512K' articles 20 years back.
Of course we do.
I hope it sucedes. Wi owners after hard core games deserve more of them, but they won't come if titles like this fail to shift units.
At least the developer has tried to push the hardware a bit and should be applauded for doing so, even if inviting comparisons with the Hd consoles wasn't the best move.
I'm afraid the title might end up being a generic shooter, but its ultimate fun factor will derive from how well the controls have been implemented - and every ind...
Anyone expecting a NIS game to be a graphical revolution are obviously not framiliar with the developer.
Their ability to make a fun and in-depth rpg/stratagey title is obvious from their record, but they never push the the platforms they run on.
I have high hopes for this to be a great title I'll enjoy playing, but I don't expect it to a be a title that shows me what the PS3 can do graphically!
Halo 3 sold well because it was solid game from a franchise with an impecable pedigree.
To claim the 360 had no good exclusives last year is absolute lunacy -I played and enjoyed many of them, as did many other 360 owners.
Now I'll admit that I do prefer KZ2, but that doesn't make Halo 3 a bad game.
Solid game + brilliant pedigree + loyal fanbase + excellent marketing campaign = monster sales. It's not rocket science.
With so many great PSN titles, I'm real glad I put a 320gig drive in my PS3!
@above - they didn't mention 'trine' - but your right, that also looks to be brilliant and I can't wait for that one either!
They are not everyones favorite, but the puzzle quest games have a strange appeal to the right person. I loved the original psp one, and have played the PSN game quite a bit too. I'm not alone, sites like IGN reviewed and loved the original puzzle quest game.
Theres no excuse for the reported technical issues though - thats just shoddy...
Whilst xenophobia is a convenient and often used excuse, it doesn't fully bear the weight of scrutiny. Apple products sell well - with huge rises in Japanese sales reported for 2008.
My own two cents:
Hardware failures are a sure fire turn off in Japan, which has a culture of producing high quality products. Japanese consumers place even more emphasis on this sort of issue than their western counterparts.
The machine itself is very bulky and loud, ...
About time someone made an 'oids' style game again! I love these things! Its an ideal game format to experiment with the fluid dynamics and get it to affect gameplay.
Really looking forward to this! Monsters and Eden are surprisingly two of the best of this gen to me, so I have high expectations of this one!
May I ask why that term is considered derogitory? I've never seen it used in a derogitory way at all, so I wander where the association comes from?
As someone who lives in Britain, I'm often reffered to as a 'Brit' and would never think anything of it. Someone called Bobby would obviously be reffered to as 'Bob'. Indeed, shortening of a descriptive name is often a sign of friendship.
I'm not trying to be insensitive, and knowing that some may find it so, means I will try...
Hard to see why people moan at all - if you expected something specific from this update then it was based on internet rumour and not a Sony statement?
At least this firmware update gave visable improvemnets and features that are potentially useful. I just updated my 360 dash and it added nothing at all - just a few bug fixes.
Makes my week every time. Definately the best game commentator around - no one and nothing is safe. :)
