Thank you for proving my point so concisely.

Do you have any concept of what English language is?
At what point does:
"Those that have never used a joystick or a pad in their life, are often amused by seeing their actions have an effect on the TV screen" "I'm suggesting that many of us who have been playing games for years are not so easily amused"

translate to

"So you are a better gamer because you aren't i...

Back at you man!
Nice to have a discussion here that doesn't end in flaming!

I can see the thrust of your argument but its simply does not work.

If the vehicles were used to 'jump to and from suspended platforms or over obstacles' then there would be some merit in your argument.
But they are not - the gameplay clips have shown this is the case.

Banjo is a vehicle based adventure game with some platform elements.

If the ratio were any different, say 80% platforming and 20% vehicles, then you could indeed use the power...

Once again you rather pathetically try and put word in a reply that never existed.

"No you are saying there are gamers then there are better gamers that have played longer ie elite"

I specifically said exactly the opposite. Read what I wrote. Or is your comprehension skills extremely limited?

Your style of 'debate', if thats what you call it, appears to be to simply 'make up' what people are saying so you can post some kind of self righte...

"The only people pulling wool over their eyes are the gamers who want to feel special that their hobby is better for them then people who just want to play from time to time. That's just down right sad."

No - downright sad is someone who puts words in other people mouths to try and prop up their own uninformed point of view.

I've not seen one person in this thread claiming that gaming is 'better for them' than for a 'casual' gamer - thats simply somethi...

@PS360WII 'Elite' is a word you have used - its certainly not a word I used.
I merely suggested I was passionate seeing as how my life has revolved around gaming since gaming began. Thats no claim of superiority, just a recognition of a commitment that few share.

Those that have never used a joystick or a pad in their life, are often amused by seeing their actions have an effect on the TV screen. Its one of the big selling points to this demographic. I'm suggesting that man...

Excellent update - i don't know whay people moan with these weekly updates. Whatever it is they expect, they expect too much!

More Pixel Junk for me, and I've been waiting for Dark Mist for ages!

I completely disagree with you.

A platformer, by its very definition involves being on foot and having to jump, grapple or climb to reach inaccessible places (platforms actually) and most usually involves the physics of jumping or grappling to deal with enemies.

Getting in a vehicle is not platforming AT ALL.

That doesn't mean it can't still be a good game, and indeed have many of the same quests and objectives you can find in a platformer. But it...

Its like trying to say "you're either a car buyer or you're not"

In reality there are all kinds of car buyers from mums who simply want to do the shopping to racing enthusiasts or super car posers.

A wise man understands and tries to define his market properly.
I applaud Nintendo for bringing gaming to the masses and creating a market that was simply not there before. However, their box remains dust covered and unused in my living room , while my...

I don't think anyone thinks blu ray is mass market device, do they?

Its quite obviously a premium priced piece of technology for those prepared to pay a premium for quality.

In the days where your average consumer downloads compressed audio and thinks the sound quality is OK, who can expect people to abandon DVD when its actually pretty good quality, and upscales well?

I am someone who IS prepared to pay for quality, and I do intend to buy plenty o...

I'm sure it will be fun anyway - but its not going to be a platformer like I wanted it to be.
Shame.

Still I'll give it a chance for what it is, and hope it shines!

I do agree with your sentiments, and I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing, but I do understand why it frustrates some fans.

Microsoft have a limited first party studio set up to bring exclusive new IP's to the platform. By targeting a large proportion of these resources at this new market, they are effectively lessening development of new first party property catering to the 'core market', and an objective view of announced titles and IP's would seem to confirm this. <...

Nothing wrong with exploiting a good franchise! Marketing men love it, and devs get a chance to react to feedback on the last title and tweak to make it an even better honed version of the original ideas and concepts of the IP. Some of the best games of this and the previous generations have been sequels to long established franchises, and as long as there are fresh IP's as well, thats not a problem for me.

I was one of those underwhelmed by the story and campaign of Halo 3, th...

I do appreciate you taking the time to reply, and whilst you do offer some insight into this behavior, I have to say thats exactly the kind of reason that so many bigots exist. I'm not interested in having peoples sexual preferences thrown in my face in inappropriate places - and that includes hetro sexuals who insist on chewing on each other in restaurants whilst I'm trying to eat, or S/M fetishists who insist on dressing as gimps whilst shopping the supermarket.

I should men...

Why would anyone bring their sexuality into gaming? I don't insist in identifying myself by my sexual preferences, my ethnic background or my nationality, and I don't see any reason why anyone else should?

Can't help but be intriuged by this one! I'm still a little rerserved about how it looks, and the balance between platforming / vehicle, but its gonna be fun finding out!
I respect Rares dev teams, and I know that what they come up with will be well worth playing with :)

At least 50% of Molyneux's BS actually ends up being true! Which is why this is gonna be a magical game you can really get lost in.

Much as I enjoyed the first game, I was slightly disappointed in a few areas, but his looks like it will be everything I wanted it to be a bit more too. If I could only have one 360 title this year, it would be this one. Fortunately, I can have more:)

Ahh, yes they were the days - I too used a SGI extreme with softimage when I was with Psygnosis! 50K just for my workstation - and that was back in the days when 50K was a lot of money...:)

Shame SGI died out - I liked the funky colours!

Doesn't run any of thre apps I HAVE to run. Some of my customers run older versions of Max or Maya (to fit their pipeline) and I have to be able to run these legacy versions.

Anyway, there seeems no point in having a bit more memory only to let a resource hogging OS gobble it all up! :) Don't I need 4 gig just for Vista? lol

In reality of course NPD and VGChatz use pretty much the same system and statistically speaking produce very similar results (certainly within 10% variance.)

The difference is that NPD has a much larger sample of retailers in the US, and so has indisputably the more accurate figures. However, you can track VGChatz record and it plainly shows its always close to the same results.

The constant bleating of platform warriors like Bladestar are much more prevalent now...
