Absolutely I can tell a difference! I only use a 40" inch screen, but the difference is obvious to me. Native rendering of a 1920 by 1080 pixel image can produce an enourous amount of fine detail - certainly a lot more than a 720 P (1280 by 720 pixels) image.

Upscaling is great, but the upscaler guesses at the information to generate for a higher output, resulting in a lessening of detail and a softer focuss than you could expect from a native picture. If you really want t...

Being a PC gamer means nothing,

I'm a digital artist and have made games for more than 15 years (started on the amiga). Video game graphics is my trade and profession, as well as a passion. But I don't claim people are fools for no reason.

If you can add some thoughts on a subject. Please feel free to do so, and 'educate people' if they have some misconceptions.
But I have a suspicion your an armchair pundit with no real knowledge other than having fiddled...

Well MS wouldn't would it? It clearly designed its console for 720P, so it did everything it could to dismiss the need for 1080P.
Its only when it became obvious that having 1080P was an advantage, that MS introduced the upscaling feature to enable 1080P output on the 360, and later added the HDMI output they swore bliund was not needed'.

Suggesting an upscaled picture is comaparable with a native resolution one is clearly wrong - the difference is quite appreciable for ...

He's far too non-specific for anyone to take a lot out of what he says, so hopefully the trolls will stay away.

He rather diplomatically suggested both platforms have their strengths, and I'm sure thats the truth of the matter.

If we can take any news from this at all, its that they are happy with developing the title on the PS3 and appear to be able to use it well, so hopefully that version will not be a poor cousin like some other poorly resourced and developed...

I don't understand? If you love 1 and 2, why would you hate 3?

Admittedly, I'm not at all keen on the battles, but theres only three in the entire game? Other than that, its identical game play with one or two nice additions (like being able to see you consecutive not total.)

I'll admit I prefer the song tracks on GH2, and being an old git, I also enjoy all the song tracks off GH80's, but theres still a decent selection on no.3.

So how can you hate...

...true, as long as you spend more money on a video card than it costs for an entire console!

I have three pretty serious PC's (each one of them cost more than 5 times what my PS3 or 360 did), but I'm still more impressed playing something like GT prologue at 1080P on really good big screen telly, than I am playing anything on the PC's. I guess thats just personnel preference though!

At what point is this news?

Most games don't run at a 1080P - I don't expect the same story every single time a game is released? It's not like this title promised that resolution or anything?

It's news when a title does support native 1080P rendering, and if you have a TV that can show the difference, its a delight to see!
But I've only got about 10 titles that do it on the PS3 (many of these are downloadables like super stardust or pixel junk), and I'm n...

Looks pretty good and I particularly like the stylised blood!

If you had to pick out something you'd want to improve, the shadows look a little too soft for my tastes and I can't see any signs of the self shadowing that they had in sigma - which is a shame.

but you just know the combat will be rock solid and I'll definately be picking this up.

Give it up already! How many more times are you going to say the same thing? Follow the link and read the full story at the original link. Look at the current screen grabs on display there.

It's already looking fantastic, and any attempt to pretend otherwise is not just opinion, but a sure sign of an agenda.

Given the legnth of time it still has for development, I feel confident that this title will surpass the original - which itself is still one of the best lo...

I'm delighted you feel that way and I sincerely hope you dump your PS3 and never use it.

Nothing could destroy an online community more than having to share it with people like you, so I hope you all go do something else.

Me - I've read Snow Crash and I want to be in 'the street'. I bet theres no way I could create a 'Hiro Protagonist' user though. Someone else is bound to have beat me to it!

Good interview - with a decent set of screens too.

Sounds like this game will be real fun, and I'm particularly pleased we'll have split screen multi player :)

Pictures are a little low res to tell much, but it looks fine to me for early code. More racing in different environments, exactly what I'd want from a new Motorstorm title.

@killer_trap your statements about it being 'in that state' are way off the mark. Granted there's plenty of spit and polish to go, but you seem to imply it looks a horrible mess, which it certainly doesn't.

If your eyes are offended by anything less than final retail code, simply don't look a...

You are quite correct to suggest that the Developers do indeed share technology and techniques, and you are correct to say that the lighting for this title looks good.

You are however, quite wrong to suggest that the lighting model used is of the order of complexity of KZ2's engine. The techniques and advanced lighting that are done in KZ2's engine, are much discussed amoung dev's as it is by far an away the most complex lighting model ever used for a real time game. The inform...

This is stupid and very very old. The complaint and the ad was ages ago - when the 60 gig model was available. Its only the ruling that has recently coem to light.

The ruling has nothing at all to do with the 40 gig model. It clearly states that the advert was misleading because it could not play 100% of all PS2 titles.
By this ruling, you also could not advertise that the 360 is backwards compatable either, as that also does not play 100% of xbox titles.

Its really rather good fun - and you can pick it up from the US tomorrow, so give it a go! Multiplayer co op is particularly fun, so check it out:)

It's exactly what I was expecting. A fluid game with good mechanics thats fun in multiplayer. Not too impressed by the script - but thats normal for me with most games in this genre.
It looks nice too, despite the naysayers.

Free Radical have never delivered engines that 'push back the bounderies of graphics', they simply make decent looking well put together smooth games like the timesplitter series, and if thats what you are looking for, this one seems like it will del...

People like to read what they want to see.

I read:
"In some respects Killzone 2 could be Call of Duty 4 on an alien planet."

With Graphics like they have, I'm more than happy to take COD4 gameplay, as COD4 is universally recognised as the best FPS to date.

Make a decent campaign and a decent multiplayer with these controls, in these kind of environments, and I'm sold.
I'm not convinced that there's been huge developments in...

For the last time - NPD is America only!!!!

Maybe thats all you care about, but it is simply not showing anything about what is happening elsewhere on the planet, and believe it or not, there are other important markets in the world!

This article talks about Chart Track, which is the most reliable set of sales results for the UK - the UK's 'NPD' if you like.
It's not the numbers that are disputed by this article. Its how those numbers are used. So other so...

It amazes me that so few people here can read!

3.2 million out of 4.8 in America is 66% of owners being online.

I don't have the numbers to hand, but the figures that spring to mind for for 360 owners are about 10 million from an installed base of about 19 million? Admitidly I'm thinking world wide figures as I don't know america figures, but that would indicate that less 360 owners are online. (53% from my estimates above)

This should be a given o...
