People who have any idea of games development will know that the successs of a title like Ninja Gaiden has very little to do with the designer.
Some games, like Metal Gear Solid, are obviously a vision that could not have been realized without a brilliant visionary leading the way.
I don't believe this man is such a character. The people who have made Ninja Gaiden good are team ninja - the coders, the scripters and the artists who have created such a finely honed combat ...
I think most people who actually played this title will concur with the overwhelming feeling that this title could have been better.
I've had it for three days now and I'm simply not blown away in the way I expected to be. Technically its not not breathtaking at all, but that wouldn't matter if the game play elements had been ramped up.
Satisfying combat was something that this title has always had in bucket loads, and if anything, this is even improved with some particu...
I seriously doubt the credibility of this story.
The source - a console importer? The kind of dodgy console importers who deal in 'Grey' goods that I've known in the past would tell you anything!
One of the chips removed from the PS3 in order to scale it back for the cheaper 40 gig model, was video processing chip which the PS2 relied on. It was the removal of this chip that made it so much more difficult to do PS2 software emulation , and while nothing is impos...
This is what happens just about everywhere else in the world too, and its a great example of why digital film downloads and delivery services for the masses are waaaaaay off yet. It will become the norm for the US too.
The infrastructure simply can't facilitate the amount of use that users want to put it to, so you get capped, or charged.
Here in the UK, even if you buy a 'unlimited' account, there are still 'fiar usage policies' which ensure that if you are a high user ...
Well give the man a fish - he predicts what everyone can already see!
What few people mention of course, is that its actually Sony who stands to clean up in the games business again for the next few years at least. PS3 is selling well and you'd have to be blinkered to not see it seriously outselling the 360 by the end of the cycle. But of course, Son'y doesn't have all its eggs in one basket. The PS2 continues to shift tons of profitable unset and software and make a tidy profi...
Absolutely mate. This site has proved time and time again that is is not fit for posting here - and the little boys who run it are partially responsible for the dreadful state of submissions on this site.
The kind of flame bait articles it writes along with completely unfounded speculation based on nothing, is exactly the kind of useless bumf thats chocking this site and hiding real news thats is actually worth pursuing.
Absolutely mate.
Real market penetration is only achieved if the majority of the market has access to it, and with down loadable movies, thats simply not going to be the case for a very long time.
I have the fastest download speed I can get in my area in the UK and pay for unlimited downloads on a business line, but even my my line gets 'profiled to slow it down at peak times because I use the line 'too much', as a result theres no way that I could reliably use pay for v...
Then press the button to skip the cut scene???
Stop me if its getting complicated...! :)
It was released on the pirate scene 2 days ago - full retail rip. I have a hacked 360 (for many reasons), so I'm unable to resisit getting an early 'hands on' with a game I'm considering buying.
I actually make my living in games dev so I'm one of the few who actually goes and buys what I like after a download, as I do with my music, where I identify what I like with downloads, but then go and purchase the stuff I really enjoy. But many many people have a hacked 360, and will...
Well you have to smile! Or at least if you can where the fan boy hats of all sides you can smile!
After all the fuss made about the resolution of other recent highly anticipated games, a game being touted as proof of a platforms technical superiority is actually natively rendered at a very low res - and still drops frames!
Now I like the art style, and the combat is fluid and fast (I have the game for two days now), but this game should never have been offered up...
What an amazing collection of BS comments!
Just goes to show - any flame war will do!
Those of us with all the machines who don't live in their parents house and still go to school, can make our own minds up!
I've now got NG2 and played it for a few hours. I also have NG sigma on PS3. Whilst NG2 is a fun title and I love the brutality, technically speaking, its definately no better than sigma. In fact its a little worse - the characters in sigma ar...
Loads of people have played it. It was pirated and released yesterday.
Quite clearly this article , although well worded, is written by someone with very little business knowledge and no ability to step back and look at the big picture.
The guys assertions are pretty daft for so many reasons, and he might as well argue that we should only have one make of TV's or computers.
Competition is good, and I'm personally delighted that MS and Sony are keeping each other'on their toes' - as we, the consumer, benefit enormously from this comp...
I guess its each to his own, but the game is definitely not perfect!
Whilst I can agree with much they say, I see it slightly differently:
I've only played it for a couple of hours now, but its pretty much the same as sigma on the PS3 - and thats no bad thing as I really enjoyed that. I personally think the backgrounds are a little better (certainly in the early levels which is all I've gotten to play so far) and I've not experienced any frame rate drops at all yet. Sigm...
I had to laugh out loud when it came to this quote:
"it’s clear that many PC gamers prefer to download. "
Yes mate, thats exactly the problem...
Well thats pretty starnge - because the full version is now on the pirate scene - and it's region free!
Classic case of irony if ever there was one!
I thought this was well written and well reasoned piece of journalism - respect.
I also broadly agree with the views expressed - there is very little incentive for developers to push the limits of what motion controllers can achieve, when the bulk of the market is happy to 'whack a mole'. In particular, I agreed with the sentiments on 'new' or 'casual' gamers. Whenever you try and suggest that the needs of gamer who has been playing for years, can be different from those who are new to...
Well, I have to admit, that was a well reasoned and reasonably unbiased commnet - not something I'm used to seeing from you!
I absolutelty agree that MMO's are not usualy graphically amazing - but I rather like the looks of this. It's also good to see them attemt to bring more than the usual fantasy elves and dwarfs approach to this kind of game, so I'm hoping this pays off for them!
It will also be interesting to see the other MMO's that have coming in conjuncti...
I'm certainly not bored of guitar hero - but Rock Band bored me within a day.
I should say, I would no doubt feel different if I had the drums and mic and could play full multi-player, but as a guitar game, rock band actually represents a regression of the game. This is partially due to huge number of truly lame 'mtv' songs, but mostly due to exceptionally poor note layout. While you are plucking away at neatly quantized perfectly metronomic note sequences, you can often hear the guita...
Whoa - I've written almost the same critique in another thread! You can only agree...
