WTF?
This article is serious retarded and completely and utterlya false!
It lists many third party titles as first party titles!!!!
Insomanic (ratchet , Resistance 1 and 2) is NOT a sony owned comapny.
Level 5 (lair) is NOT a SONY owned company.
Nija Theory (Heavenly Sword) is NOT a sony owned company
Evolution Studios (Motorstorm) Was not a Sony owned studio (it has since been bought by sony though)
...
More mindless journalism!
They quote a phrase made in 2005 and then answer with a quote from a non-sony developer in 2008? What kind of trash journalism is this?
There ARE one or two thigs youi can take Sony to task on if your looking to make valid points, but these kind of flame bait pieces are just ammunition for the trolls and by making such obviously stupid points, completely hide any valid issues they may raise.
No mate - a discussion is when someone chooses to discuss an article in the comments section, or on a discussion site.
Your kind of 'rebuttal article' is a prime example of shoddy argumentative net journalism.
..and the only person who need to look anything up is you!
The PS3 has 512meg of ram, thats an absolute fact. As with most shoddy journalists, you simply take a fanboy comment based on how the memory is divided and accessed, and then spread you comp...
True - there are always many - like you, who simply don't care about quality. They are happy to listen to 96kbs MPs'3 on an ipod for example.
There will always be others, like myself, who prefer fidelity I want to experience what the artist or directer intended as much as I can.
I'll pay to do this, but its a price I don't mind paying - indeed my speaker cables cost more than PS3.... not a price many would be willing to pay.
That upscaling DVD's is better ...
You completely hit the nail on the head with that comment.
It really doesn't matter how good your 'guessing' of missing data is -its still only a guess, and will never have the fidelity of true HD.
Way of the smaurai has never had great tech or graphics.
That's never stopped my from enjoying the titles enourmously, but it WILL stop the game from ever receiveing the kind of attention it deserves.
Ninja Theory were never going to develop a follow up game anyway?
Quote from just 20 days ago:
""We’re not abandoning HS just on a whim because we want to go off and do something different - there’s a great huge raft of reasons behind us taking the direction we are - and it’s also the nature of the business that I’m not allowed to share any of those reasons with you. As for the ‘you’re just not doing HS2 NOW’ comments - well one thing you learn in this industry...
The article an another fine example of why Internet journalism should be viewed with skepticism.
If you'd have asked any analyst if any could come into a market owned by Nintendo and sell 30 million + machines, nobody would have believed it were possible.
Where Sony did fail, was the area of security. Piracy is more rampant on the PSP than any other machine. WHY? Cause its easy and doesn't require extra hardware.
Developers aren't stupid - they see the sal...
I've got no issue with the copycat products MS is intending to launch. All companies do it to greater or lesser extent, and MS has a history in all its businesses of copying the innovators.
As long as they do it well, it simply means more choice, and once a good idea is in the open it would be stupid to not appreciate it and go where it leads. Mimicry is flattery. As long as we gamers get more choice and good titles it can't be bad thing for us.
I must admit to b...
Errrr. no!
What you have done is to repeat exactly the same inaccurate comments that got people annoyed in the first place. The PS3 has 512 meg of ram available at all times - the only difference in the architecture is how you access and use it.
The BS comments about 'offset by the cell' are the kind of techno babble spoken by people with almost no understanding of data motion within a complex next gen system. He spoke about an area of the game he knows nothing a...
No point in replying to this guy. He lives under a bridge and only pops his head out to take pot shots at PS3 owners when he thinks they might bite.
Don't feed the troll.
Not at all.
I still love 2D shoot em ups. Rtype is absolutely seminal example of such a game, and for its genre, its untouchable. But in todays world, it wouldn't deserve high marks.
A modern next gen title needs to deliver on many fronts if it wants to be considered 'great'and plot involvement, and technical merit are two areas that the real classic games do need to deliver on.
NG2 doesn't.
Doesn't mean its not a playable game, but it really is...
So you game for a max of 2 hours a day and you finished the game in the 5 days its been out, but you didn't skip any cut scenes? How did you do that then? Did you have an early preview version? Or maybe a time machine?
I rather suspect you're simply being a bit 'liberal' with the truth and probably haven't played the game at all...
Unless you loved the game so much that you spent 'extra time' to play it every single day at the exclusion of everything else for lo...
I haven't finished it - mainly because MGS is out now and civilization. But theres a reason it didn't score well with most reviewers and thats because it is extremely lacking.
Combat is still fluid and great, and if thats all you care about, then the game is for you, but you can't tell me this game deserves any more than an 8. The lighting is the worst I've seen in any next gen game - the characters can be in the darkest shadow or next to the brightest light and look exactly t...
Its quite extraordinary to moan about cut scenes when you have an option to skip them.
Its amusing to me that many of these same people were frothing with praise about how absolutely amazing Lost Odyssey was. I played just 10 minutes in about the first 2 hours of that game.... I enjoyed that too, but theres plenty of hypocrasy about!
Personally, I like a good story, and to skip it in MGS4 would be to seriously miss out on some fine creative work. But it IS an opt...
I'm porbably in the minority here, but I've always hated the smash bros games, and its bad enough theres on,e without anyone else copying!! :)
Yes theres a few ip's you could exploit, but honestly do you really want to see such a lightweight kiddie fest on the PS3?
You do?? <shakes head and mutters about kids these days having no taste.....mummble mummble BLAH!>
I'd like to say it won't happen, but it looks like everyones copying everybody else, so w...
Surprisingly - there are indeed quite few more on 360 than on PS3 for the moment.
Much of this is due to MS laudable efforts to turn around the 360 in Japan - but western RPG fans benefit.
Many of the best examples are on both machines of course, but despite not ratting either Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey as highly as most, I'd rather have the choice to play them, than no choice at all!
Of course, things change, and titles such as 'White Knight Stor...
440 car models, 100 track models and all that associated data wouldn't be able to be contained in 7.5 gig DVD image, which is why you'd need multiple discs, no matter how good the compression algorithms. Thats why theres a rumor.
It's still only a rumor, and I'd bet they are working really hard to make sure it doesn't happen. Theres a big difference between changing a disc very occasionally for an RPG, and having multiple discs for an arcade game - where you could be changing d...
Well of course dude?
We ARE discussing qulaity, which is a percentage of all titles that reach a certain stadard.
You appear to be confusing this with quantity - so any machine with a greater number of titles would win that argument - its pointless.
By your reckoning the winner by a country mile would be the PS2. It might have a lower percentage of qulaity games, but given the thousands available, it will have more high rated games than the entire...
Seems like this article was either written a while ago or simply doesn't make any sense.
If the PS3 got off to a slow start - it was eighteen months ago! You know. When it started.
Since then it has sold at a faster rate than its predecessor (PS2) or it main rival (360). It can only be viewed as slow in comparison to the WII, and it can be sucesfully argured they are different ends of the market completely.
Most people rightly view the 360 as being sucesful, yet ...
