Glad to see we'll be seeing more of Halo wars! I'm not a huge Halo fan, but this looks a great RTS!
Of course MS will have some surprise titles to show! I expect them to be showing the motion controller for one thing - I've made two titles for it so I KNOW it exists! But they'll have another surprise or two I'm sure.
Sorry dude, you are welcome to your own thoughts of course, but I respectfully disagree with your homage to this title.
People are not 'mixed up' at all, they are calling it as they see it, and only fascists think they single handedly see the 'only truth' and that anyone having a opposing point of view is from 'obviously non gamers'. I've played and been consumed by video gaming since the beginning of gaming with Pong machines. So much so, that I gave up a high powered career to make ...
Pretty retarded article which insists the only thing that shifts units is a low price point.
If this were the case, then the 360 would have had a significant spike when it lowered its price points in Europe to cost less than the WII. The fact it didn't have a huge junmp in sales, demostrates the guys assertions are obviously wrong...
....and if titles like WiFit and Brain Training are not system sellers, then nothing ever has been!!
He's just plain...
They're not fooling anyone.
I'm afraid the tech demo didn't wow, and the game looks even worse, even at SD levels.
You got to applaud them for trying to bring better visuals to the platform, but talking like its next gen visuals is plainly embarrassing.
This game is indeed far more fun than it has any right to be! Alcohol is mandatory!! :)
In particular the Social networking functions and connectivity are are exceptionally well realized and definitely propel this title into 'next gen' territory. If only other titles like Rock band would have taken such an approach... we can only hope that other titles will follow where this one has led.
Just goes to show - if you look hard enough there are still some people talking sense in here that can have a reasoned conversation.
Thanks you for restoring my faith guys..
As has been mentioned, the issue here is not to do with hardware capabilities, but ease of use. Those imbued with an understanding of the PC method of doing things, will only understand that methodology, and therefore be convinced of superiority by looking at PC techniques (like equating graphic prow...
Sorry old man, but you don't know what you are talking about at all!
Theres no point in countering your points one by one as they are all completely wide of the mark!
...and I bet I'm older than you too! :)
Agreed. I too am a games artist and just pointed out many of the same things in a post above! :) Have a bubble sir!
Sorry, but these are not full blown CGI renders and are definitely using game assets, or at the very least target game assets.
Whilst the images are very nice, they are not jaw droopingly amazing like you could make them if they were pure CGI renders. I'll concede that they could be target renders, but they don't look overly ambitious to me, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were in game shots.
On what do I base my opinion? 15 years of being an artist/animator ma...
I can see why any non artists might not see the relevance on such a monitor. But for those of us who do high end art work and compositing, this kind of screen would be a god-send.
Whilst I normally do games, I'm currently doing a feature film, and feature films use a colour space much larger than the limited 8bit per colour space of a standard monitor.
This means if you work with film footage, you simply can't see all the information. I convert the files to a 32 ...
The kind of comments in here are exactly the reason that Sony have chosen not to release this title elsewhere. The Japs are not so closed minded about what makes an enjoyable game.
The game is different - if you don't see the value of it, then simply don't buy it. Its no more different than a karaoke title (singstar), or a simple quiz (buzz) or a high tech exercise mat (WiFit), and these are all expensive titles (with or without the hardware they need).
Personall...
This really isn't news and is obviously pretty poorly informed - recall???
MS only came clean about the failure rate after a FOX news special was going to expose it (along with a bunch of other high profile media sites). Up until then the official line was 'there is no hardware problem.'
But this is old news. Whatever else they may have got right, we know that they don't understand Consumer Electronics in the same way as others and they got their fingers burnt cutting ...
Cool - you can be become a true games player and not a corporate cheerleader like so many others! :)
"I'll trade you Bullet Witch, Bomberman, and Hour of Victory for Uncharted (LOL)"
OH come on - you can't have uncharted for that tat! Give us something good! Theres more than enough good titles to trade!! :)
You almost made a decent post!
It started so well... I pretty much agreed with everything you were saying and you were being completely reasonable......
But then all that reserve dissapperaed and snapped and the usual incoherent Sony bashing 'boy tied to his piece of plastic' Bladestar made himself known. Again. Does the rage keep you awake at night? Does it give yoiu something to live for? Do you really feel like your in an armed struggle? Do you even think anyone here...
I agree that Resistance 1 can come off the list - there a plethora of good shooters on 360, so no ones begging for more, but it WAS an excellent game and I enjoyed much more than many other 'top rated' shooters.
As for lost Odyssey, I'm afraid I have to disagree again - I got half way through the third disc before simply not bothering. In terms of gameplay it brought nothing to the table at all and played worse than many PS2 JRPG's - the graphics were good, but the dreadful lo...
This may be the case in the American market - but the American market is a very different beast to the rest of the world.
I do despise the way these articles based ONLY on US sales try and pretend they represent a universal trend. The moment anything is posted about Europe or Japan, it's labeled as such. Would it kill Americans to acknowledge they aren't the entire world for a change?
That aside, it IS surprising to not see an increase in hardware numbers related...
Lots of respect for Forza, but it just didn't keep me hooked. Two weeks and I never booted it up again.
I've always been partial to a bit of GT though and this gen is no exception, I still play a bit of prologue.
Still, they are both good titles.
Which is more than can be said about the article! Dreadfully written, have they not heard of proof-reading? It reads worse than a google translation, and whilst his English is infinitely better than my Indian will...
This would be the stupidest move ever. To allow a drive now would make no sense and I don't believe a word of it unless it officially announced. It would be the single stupidest marketing move MS has ever made.
A movie only drive would be of little use to most people, would add yet another sku to the line-up, and still wouldn't allow developers to have more room to store game data. Additionally it would seriously increase the cost of the machine, losing one its main advantages over PS...
This article is based on the story here http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
...which is extremely light in detail, not giving any official statement or even quoting what they were told. So I doubt its credibility.
One of the things I've always found great about the Playstation line up has been its diversity of titles. Sure you get the big blockbusters, but they are always prepared to ...
Seems like a cheap shot as suggested.
All development houses cancel titles for very valid reasons. Sometimes it takes some development of an idea to see it is a fatally flawed concept, or sometimes the ideal of the core concept is simply not achievable.
In these kind of cases, its important that a development house knows when to give it up and start on something more worth while. Every long term game developer knows this, so to say you'd never do it is really daft...
