I thought this was real good article and analysis, and I love to see MS completely rethink their approach, even if I'm fairly sure they won't.
I've never really liked the blades dashboard,it works well enough, but its a bit 'cartoony for my tastes. So a replacement would be cool!
I know some won't like me for saying it, but as an owner of 360 and PS3, the user interface for PS3 is far sleeker and sexier. especially at the proper 1080P resolution, and it has a lo...
I've always enjoyed dungeon crawls, so I'm prepared to give this a try!
But I have to profess to being a little disappointed at least. Given the protracted development time, I had hopped for more innovation than it appears to offer? It also has to be said, that given their much publicized criticism and rejection of the Unreal Engine which has powered so many of this gens best looking titles, we were surely expecting better looking environments and more stable frame rate when it got bus...
I've played the 360 contoller to death since the machine was released, but I've never understood why people insist it is the most ergonomic controller. It consistantly gives me hand cramps when playing for extended periods - particularly in driving games. Ditto for my misses - and I'm 6ft 2" with big hands so its not a small hands thing...
I appreacite the smaller dead spot in the joysticks, but thats about it for me. Its clunky and heavy leaves my hand tired. I don't get ...
I'm happy enough that these features are coming, but I never really missed them in the first place. I play a lot of 360 games, and probably have a huge points score and achievements, but I really couldn't tell you as I've never really cared about it.
So, great for those that obsess about such things, but I suspect a large number of gamers will just continue to play games...
I only played this with guitar - so maybe I really missed out.
But this game sucked...
The note layout was absolutely dreadful for the guitar! I've never felt more like a I was tapping metronomeic plastic buttons than I did with this game. Some of this is the song choices of course - they are not all picked for interesting guitar lines, but even songs that did have guitar, had really bad note layout compared with the Guitar hero games, which make playing fun with...
At least in the US you are told you are buying a rufurb!
When the price cut was announced in Europe, lots of stores reported that the units they were getting were refurbs, but there was no indication of this at all to the consumer.
I've Always enjoyed the 'ferrari' games (remember ferrari challange?), and its nice to see system 3 still churning out a good title. I'll give it a go! :)
@scissor_runner
thanks for your comments mate - its all opinion and you have every right to yours!
Your right I do think Gabe is over opinionated, but hey, I'm not alone in that view in the dev communitty, right! ??:) In fact Gabe wrote his opinion specifically to counter all the opinions and articles and analysis which specifically agrees with how I feel, so I'm definately not alone in my conclussions. How much intesting PC stuff will be shown at E3 this year c...
@Lethal_Venom
Whats your problem dude? This is a site for people to discuss their own take on ideas and speculation in the media..
If youw ere referring to me as I kid I take that as a compliment. I'm 44 and I've been a professional artist/animator making video games for more than 15 years. Of course this doesn't make my opinion any more valid than anyone elses, but its more than the bleating of kid on a public site!
Simply being sucesful doesn't m...
Don't know what you are talking about mate, but I'm willing to be t you didn't play the game?
Of course, its not everyones tastes, but this is my favourite RPG so far on the 360, and beats titles like blue dragon and Lost Odesee by a mile - at least for me. The telling of chopins real life story in the interlude cut scenes, added a link to real life life that only enhanced the 'other worldniess' of games setting and helped give me an appreciateion of the composers complex melod...
Your speeds sound great. I get a 10th of that, but I've never had an issue, so thats not your problem. Could be a simple setting?
As for people posting in the playstation forums - of course we see theres plenty of users incapable of even switching the unit on - never mind getting a connection through a router!
There's thousands of posts of a similar nature on the Xbox live forums in the technical help section, new ones added every minute.
Or don't you bother to l...
Getting a cheaper console can only be a good thing, but the price difference isn't huge, and I rather suspect the effect will be a small one.
We already saw this price cut in Europe, but despite the spin, it didn't really do a lot for 360 sales in that region.
The US IS a different region though, and a strong one for the Xbox brand, so maybe it will have a stronger effect there.
If MS are going to be sucessful with their push for casual gamers, you...
I've had both a 360 and a Ps3 since their respective launches.
Yes I can honestly say, in all the time I've used the Ps3 online, I've never had a single glitch, and I've barely ever seen any lag. I've had lag on live though - though not too often.
I'm not going to tell you its your connection, it could be anything, but it IS an issue thats your issue, not the psn service or the machine.
Welcome to a very small group! The Conan appreciaters group!
Its not utterly brilliant, or technically amazing, but its thouroughly enjoyable with a rewarding mechanic and its seriuosly fun!
Not at all fashionable to like that title though... :)
For once I have to agree with Green.
Anyone who's played all these games would agree that the fighting combat mechanics in NG2 are absolutely the best of breed, its difficult to see how anyone could dispute that claim if they had played the game.
This is one of the things that makes it so annoying that they didn't try so hard in other areas - as this could have been a 'definitive game', instead of a 'definitive mechanic'. Better graphics, a proper story, less poi...
Well you can't blame the guy for bigging up the platform he's most comfortable with, and he does have some good points to make.
But he's also missing a lot of issues and problems and is downright misleading in many of his statements.
Of course the sales figures for PC's are enormous, but its a very small fraction of these that are used for serious gaming. I have three high spec machines in my home office and am just about to invest more than £4000 in another...
This article is for using PS3 WiFi UNDER THE LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM.
Its of very little use to 99.9% of Ps3 users...
I'm not a huge fan of downloadable movies - even with the increased functionality.
But the increased choice can only be a good thing, and the PSN is really starting to offer an excellent service. With the supposed features of firmware 2.4 and latter release of 'Home', its looking to take the mantle of 'best online service' from MS.
Ouch!!
Not a good time to screw its users with a driver update that restricts performance. Not when the 'opposition' have finally woken up and released a card for half the price of the flagship nvidia one that performs just as well...
Maybe the balance of power in this martket will have a little shift?
Shouldn't even be published with a 'made up' headline. Even the quote is doctored and should say "is possibly on the brink of a releasing a legendary special action/RPG adventure", but tlets face it Zhuk has never been even handed in his submissions.
Its certainly the most positive of the previews I've seen though, and I'm hoping they are right! I'm going to be lining up to play this and I want a winner! :)
