On a HW level it's especially true for exclusives. 1st party always make the best use of the HW.
Oldboy, you're correct. MS defines the 1X as an "iterative console" and the start of a new console ecosystem. Similar to how computer components simply get better over time, the iterative console concept gets better over time and not replaced over time like in a "generational console" environment.

The article was way more than I'd imagined about SoT considering what was the beta. Seems like the beta was really minimalist and more of a debug/stress teat than an example of the final product. Rare seems to have returned to form; There is a ton of interesting new day one content and what looks to be strong post release support to keep new content coming, which is fantastic, and I can't wait to play the retail release.

I agree. Good start for a new franchise. It's also good to see strong developer support for it, having had multiple patches that have optimized the game quite a bit since launch.

That may be your point, but not the point that Phoenix Up made. His point was to connect the failure of Zune to that of a portable game console.
Your point makes more sense. TBH, I don't see much of a point in portable consoles at all considering everyone has portable phones, tablets and such. Hook up a BT controller and you're good for home console gaming on the go!

This opinion piece is about how MS can't buy its way out of its problems. How else, besides BUYING new studios to make games, would MS get out of their problem of "no games"? Stealing? Begging? It takes money to make games, which is why some games get announced at E3 as kickstarters...

Probably because of the way MS lost mindshare towards the end of last generation and at the beginning of this generation (a lot of which does have to do with the quantity of games). The fact that Sony's exclusives are more appealing to the majority of gamers certainly helps too.

Yeah, I guess I'm just surprised that a bit more wasn't included in the beta, all things considered.
