If they didn't charge for it people would change gamertags as often as underwear and blow through all the good ones.
Love the Borderlands branded controller skin.
I'm posting from my Xbox right now but Pandora cut out a few times at random while making maps in Far Cry 4.
Unreal Engine 4 requires DX12 to operate, right? Hope IDidn't make myself look foolish...
DX12 is running on PS4.
Any improvement to effiency leverages extra power developers can use for anything, including resolution. This article is just more nonsense. Wait until MS shows it off...
Games like Killzone and Drive Club, and the upcoming game The Order 1886 are all graphical showcases for what PS4 can do right now. Ryse and Forza, however, are also testament that in the right hands Xbox One can be visually striking as well. It sounds like you may take console ownership a bit too seriously.
I'm not into Sony, but it's nice to hear from them instead of of all of the flame-broiled DX12 arguements all the time. Sony has a strong machine and undoubtably a long life cycle before it is tapped out, I just happen to prefer MS; controller, games and features suit me better.
95% of dlc is overpriced and is sometimes even found on the disc, which isn't even "downloadable". For the most part it's a racket. My hat's off to the Witcher devs for offering so mch for free.
Can't wait for GDC!
I'm just saying that with all of the nda stuff and the recent job postings none of us know the true extent of Microsofts plans. They didn't tell anyone they put a scaler in the 360 after all; also it's not about Xbox vs. PS since they are both capable of being made better through updates.
Still, there are some unknowns:
Will the Xbox gpu run FULL DX 12 since MS "highly customized" it?
Will windows 10 be more efficient with cpu and memory usage?
Is MS looking to hire programmers to allow Xbox One to run all cores in parallel instead of through a "traffic cop"?
These points could help out more than partial DX support alone, and I'm sure that all consoles are going to continue to be optimized. I wish Phil could full...
Thank you. Everyone knows Microsoft spent a boatload customizing the GPU in XBOX One but noone but them knew how to make it FULL DX12 compatible. It is still speculation but it seems more likely to be true every day. Now if Phil would give us full disclosure we all could argue about something else.
You are correct on paper, but the PS3 was twice as powerful on paper as well, and Xbox kept up just fine with it. I'm sure that in the long run both new systems will look about the same since Microsoft designed XBOX One around DX12, but only time will tell. Thanks for being educated, btw.
Please be civilized. We are trying to reflect on what DX12 might mean to Xbox, which is relevant to this article. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings.
I remember reading that the Xbox GPU wa designed with DX12 in mind, but lets just wait until Microsoft elaborates. Historically speaking, however, Microsoft produces more efficient output on thier consoles than the competition.
Does anyone know if windows 10 will use less memory than what Xbox is currently running? That could, along with DX12, have amore serious performance gain than DX12 on its own.
Forza Rallysport, if it's ever done, would be fantastic! You listening Turn 10?
I heard dx12 won't offer much improvement on xbox one because one core always directs traffic to the others. Maybe they can optimize the cpu to leverage more symmetrical cpu threading?
Got to talk to one of the leads at the Gamestop Conference last year and he just stated that as a small studio it is easier to focus on one console, but would not confirm anything about Xbox One. Saw about fifteen minutes of gameplay though; looks awesome.
