Lol, but you can buy 4aa's and a charger for $10, and each set will last between 20(Mp) to 40(SP) hours. I never need a cord... ever.
If built-in batteries are so great why don't they last more than 8 hours? If there are better batteries for a DS4 they should be in the controller already, right? I mean, defenders of built-in batteries often argue that one shouldn't have to spend extra on their controllers, but even with a better pack, a DS4 still won't last ha...
Star Wars made Sci-Fi mainstream. Halo made console FPS mainstream and Halo 2 made console online multiplayer mainstream. I'd say that both Star Wars and Halo ushered in a new era for their respective media formats, so yeah, Halo could be likened to Star Wars in some regards.
@6.1.3 PreAtaric
360 has a RISC based CPU with 3 3.2 Ghz cores. XB1 has an X86 based CPU with 6 1.2 Ghz cores. They are vastly different from each other too. On top of that, it takes roughly ten times the power of the console you are trying to emulate to run an emulator properly, so it shouldn't be possible given the known specs.
Certain graphics elements like lighting could be improved? Sounds like we agree then. Besides, what can be offloaded to the cloud now is more limited by bandwidth. If 2-4 Mbps can run CD3 what will 50-100Mbps be able to do in the future? I bet you'd be able to push even more graphics elements like tiled resources to the cloud with those speeds at that point.
It was ESSENTIALLY a no comment, i.e. not exactly the same as "we don't know". How is it that you man...
They did say that, as a matter of fact Angelic(#5) pulled the quote already.
No restrictions on clients doesn't mean the same thing as one company not being more capable of using the tech. There is XB1 hardware dedicated to moving data(see:move engines) whose limitations are not fully understood. MS had intended to have an always online console, built Azure to be ready at launch, and believes that eventually most games will use it. Finally, during the interview they said ...
360 was vastly different to XB1 too, and BC was deemed impossible for both consoles by every tech site that talked about it. MS figured it out on their less powerful console just fine though, which is odd.
I love this interview! It solidifies almost everything that defenders of cloud assisted computing have maintained from the start. Things many others have said isn't possible.
-Low bandwidth (2-4 Mbps).
-Works for physics, AI, and graphics.
-Limited by quality of servers more than hardware.
-There was essentially a "no comment" regarding if XB1 has hardware engineered to facilitate cloud compute, so even that is still plausable.
@spotie
Thanks for PMing me just to talk more trash about dynamic weather, then blocking me. That was real mature.
For the last time, dude, there is no dynamic weather in the trailer. Could they add it though? Sure. What we know is that in the video, it is always bright and sunny and there is no tire deformation being simulated.
This gen is still about compromises, and Polyphony cares more about the history of the sport than the realism. I...
@Heavy
You are leaving out the part of the sentence that says, "...especially when you look at...", meaning that there's more than just "...the final 3 or 4 months of the games release season" for MS to have been busy with all year. That sentence was a segue into the topic of the article, not a suggestion that MS was only busy with games.
So how do you top 2015? Continue to evolve the features of XB1, get devs on board with DX12, relea...
Spotie, for a race that lasts less than an hour what's the point of dynamic weather and time of day? And if it's being put back in GT Sport, why isn't that shown in the trailer? Besides all that, if your tires don't perform properly it compromizes the whole sim aspect since braking, acceleration, and cornering cannot be accurate without proper tire physics. On the other hand, dynamic weather and time of day aren't at all required to make a game that simulates driving. DC ...
@Heavy
Before you even follow the link it says, "For MS and the XB1 it has been a busy year..." To me, that's not just games. Things like Win 10, DX12, cloud, BC, HEVC, OR support, system updates, crossplay, and remote play. They did a lot with games too, with better indie support, more original IP's shown (and more announcements to come), and as others in this thread have already listed, there are some great exclusives from earlier in the year.
It couldn't be like Star Wars until it releases a horribly written trilogy of prequels. I hope to god The Force is strong with Disney... my heart can't take being broken like that again.
Games-wise, Halo has an extremely rich mythology that only a handful of games can match so the stories are always epic.
What is Sport, Gt Lite?
I also don't understand why in seven iterations they still can't have tires that deform like real cars (and Forza) do. From the video, there's no apparent time of day or weather besides sunshine which is also weird. It looks pretty just like all the others have, and it'll probably have thousands of cars which is great, but the physics appear to be the same sub-par standard as always. GT's graphics over gameplay, and quantity over qu...
Why was this BS approved with spoilers in the title? This article needs to fail.
@Bigpappy
It is greater than great. Amongst other things MS can now make use all of the capabilities of the XB1, our dashboard is way faster and simpler, and we get BC!
@Bahamut
I'm just quoting your comments here because they seem contradictory:
1.2.7 - "I never... claimed the word great wasn't good enough..."
1.2.3 - "Even 'great' is stretching it."
@Melimel
My store never had any bud to smoke at their midnight launches...
@Heavy
How are you overthinking it?
Part of the quote you used, "...especially when you look at the final 3 or 4 months..." specifically addresses where the majority of this years releases occur. When you said, "...not much launched until GeOW..." you basically agreed with the MS quote you pulled from the article.
make.believe
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
...and don't talk hypothetically about screwing over your fans with a more powerful XB1.
EDIT @ 1.3.1:
I was referring to Sony's recent interview, but I agree about Don being an idiot. I just think it's a big mistake to make a ".5" console.
For the price of Skreens, you could just buy another small TV.
