Stuna, Sony doesn't even have the infrastructure to do cloud assisted computing right now. They also don't have dedicated hardware to handle cloud assisted computing, so when they can do it MS will still do it better.
PS4 isn't going to be better than XB1 at everything, as you'll see more and more over the next few years. MS designed a 10 year system with Win10, DX12, cloud, and unique hardware that still needs the proper OS, API, and servers to make use of. ...
MS started off this gen by rolling the ball down the wrong side of the hill. They had to run damage control to stop the ball and push it back up the hill to get to the starting line. Through updates, price cuts, and new and established IP, they are definitely gaining momentum now. If MS continues to trend this way, they will probably match Sony monthly sales, but have virtually no chance of outselling PS4's lifetime sales.
Conversely, Sony played very smart from the get-g...
Darxyde, I don't agree with castillo here but your logic is a bit flawed.
MS already screwed up at the beginning of the race, which means a healthy Sony has been in a race with an injured MS this whole generation. As far as I'm concerned, Sony would be winning anyways, but the reason Sony is this far ahead is because MS screwed up at the start.
Would it be better if it came after Forza, or before Until Dawn?
What about you? Why aren't you doing it?
It's nice, but I'd prefer if it had the Mad Max/steampunk art style of the machines in Fallout.
The Geo Mod bit was a joke. Off the top of my head, here's what I see though:
-Gravity appears heavy, may be acceleration related
-Debris has odd reactance to other objects
-Size of chunks too uniform in size
-Particulates lack any sense of volume
-Size of particulates too uniform in size
-A bullet actually makes a hole with some variable of fragmentation(material dependent), not a man-sized hole in a wall
The map editor wasn't as creative either. Far fewer objects to choose from. So many of the objects were not texture mapped on all sides. Others had occlusion bigger than the object itself. Because of this you couldn't make unique buildings nearly as easily.
Next time, they need fully rendered objects with a toggle for occlusion per object. Way better logic for things like patrol routes, "water cooler" moments, game type creation (points/laps/time etc.). Also...
They'd spent about five months trying to get splitscreen to work, which is why I was surprised to see 343i say "for the next one" the other day. Maybe they will still be able to work it out and patch it in, but it's doubtful.
It sounds like you're describing COD.
Lol, Uptown. Like Bethesda doesn't know PS4 sells better already. Mods are just easier to share between XB1 and PC because of DX, it has nothing to do with Bethesda's ignorance about sales.
But hey, while you're enjoying all the added gameplay that comes with your sales victory, I'll be enjoying Fallout 4, with mods, and complimentary versions of previous Fallouts too. Thanks, MS!
I remember Kaiju Big Battle and the nefarious Dr. Cube, lol! If I recall, Pacific Rim called the monsters Kaiju too. It's fairly common.
As they strive for excellence, they leave no stone unturned.
It might be a cool rock, but it's no Dwayne Johnson.
Buying a company isn't always about the value of the brand name(Minecraft). The technology aquisition from an AMD buyout also carries a value with it too. MS may be more interested in the GPU foundation AMD would give MS than the floundering CPU side of things. MS is partly responsible for the roadmap to create an entirely new computer architecture. AMD bringing out newer PC cards that have more in common with XB1's GPU architecture is just the first step.
Then there...
Yep. They also have no time to make new games that run in full HD either.
Maybe he can't find the Kinect port on his PS4?
@ver1on
Maybe they were expecting to have included streamlined features from DX12? For all we know, MS may have planned for Win10/DX12 to be ready before Halo 5's release. When launches of multiple products are planned years in advance though, things like this can occur. It's just a theory...
The hardware doesn't change, but the OS, API, and Cloud are all new, and each brings with it new features that will allow for some added content/quality in future releases.
That said, I find it strange that 343i has given up on split screen when, to the best of my knowledge, none of these new features are implemented in Halo 5 yet. Win10, with WDDM 2.0 being required for certain DX12 features, and a DX12 patch could potentially bring split screen via local processing. Us...
Agreed. The damage was mind-bogglingly absurd. MS does have more unannounced new IP on its way though, suggesting a better focus on a diversified library of games than in the past.
Stripes? I thought there were compliments to both XB1 and PS4 in my post. MS is on track now and Sony continues its record-breaking pace. What's biased about that?
