I disagree. I've played the remake and Automata, liked Automata much more. Flows overall much better.
Elden Ring is really, really good, and often times I feel it is the best game From has made. However, towards the end of the second playthrough, it started to burn me out. Some say it is too long, but I actually think it simply loses its focus a little bit, and does not do enough to offer new and innovative ideas towards the end. It shows new areas and vistas until the Capitol, but after that it becomes a bit flat, like they ran out of development time or ideas or something. Great games often...
This is amazing news for both console and PC, as it means FSR2.0 adoption rate will be much higher.
I used to be in the native camp, but FSR2.0 and latest DLSS revisions put me solely in the upscaling camp. Now I run games by default on RSR 1800p, because I genuinely think they look better than native 4K, and similarly FSR2.0 Quality mode looks better to me than native 4K. It's free performance with lower power usage, and they come with a better image quality. What'...
You are correct! This should be akin to FFXII style most likely. They have some pretty good names behind it, the scenario writer and event designer from FFT and Vagrant Story who acts as the Creative Director, and Yoshida-san is a big fan ot Matsuno's work as well (there's a blog where he describes how Ivalice alliance was his dream come true), and finally we have the largest questionmark, The Last Remnants's Director. Let's see what kind of world they can create!
It looks good, but also I'm seeing a lot of the very same ideas reused here. It would be interesting to see a completely new take on Metroidvania concept.
My advise to PC gamers is to simply forget RT until it performs like Anti-Aliasing on all GPUs.
When I by default started turning off all RT options, I realized I enjoy games much more as they always fly and still look phenomenal. I don't _need_ realistic lighting or reflections. What I do need however, is good writing, great performances, fun and innovative gameplay, beautiful music, story worth playing through, artistic high resolution texture & 3d render work, f...
Finally I can play this on the big screen! Played through the PSP version on Vita, but always wanted to play this at a sofa on a big screen. Happy to buy it again to support Matsuno-san's projects. I hope they do this for FFT as well, and later for Vagrant Story and FFXII, to complete the Ivalice saga as much as he can. I wouldn't mind another game in the universe either! Or another completely new Ogre Battle game. I'm even planning to invest 20K JPY to buy Ogre Battle 64 and N64 ...
I looked at this and got a bit Satoshi Kon's Paranoia Agent vibes. However, that was a psychological triller, and this is a game where it seems you kill for fun and points in an arena. Seems like there's no real story component, or explanation behind the motivations, just senseless killing wrapped in a new mash up gameplay package.
When I look at games like this (and I know I'm again going to receive plenty of criticism for this view, which may actually be my wh...
This looks like good arcade fun! Shame it's not on other platforms, I wouldn't mind a game like this.
I understand prices being different in other countries and peripherals as well, but I would't still settle for a subpar emulation experience with a lower prices. Digital Foundry had a good video about how inaccurate the emulation is: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
You simply have to pay to play these classics if you want accurate emulation. If you hunt for deals and learn how to repair and do ba...
There is one really good way to play the originals: Buy the original machines and games used. I've got two used PS3 phats and some extra parts such as blu-ray lasers, full drives and batteries. All super cheap from Amazon Japan. The consoles cost me less than 80 USD here in Tokyo. I got 25 PS1/PS2 games on Yahoo Auction Japan, cost me maybe 60 USD including shipping, all top classics. Stuff like Suikoden I-V, Shadow Hearts I-III, Xenosaga I-III, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne / Digital Devil...
Well, you can keep playing the extra FPS later whereas meanwhile everyone else is enjoying today Elden Ring's rich lore, atmosphere and gameplay at a smooth 60fps in an incredibly large, complete and varied world full of wonders and surprises.
What is this concept of "preferred console" ? I thought us gamers only have preferred games!
I was just thinking about this a few minutes ago, as I'm taking a break from my 2nd playthrough. Very much towards the end of it, and at 201 hours clocked in. Elden Ring is the most complete From Software game, it feels like the full package. Incredibly content rich and long game, it truly is an achievement like no other. Dark Souls I was the last RPG game that was so complete from their side. Dark Souls II, III and Bloodborne required Expansion to feel complete. Sekiro was a full game, t...
If the story and music are equally good to FFXIV, and if the XVI is a more complete and condensed package accompanied with higher production values and originality, then this could very well be good. Yoshida's team is solid, but I am not convinced they can create a good single-player experience. Hope they surprise me thoroughly. The lack of hype is a bit worrying, though. If the side quests are anything like FFXIV, it'll be another skimping through the main story type of a thing, and ...

DLP for the win. Fantastic technology.
I'm the same, I just couldn't finish it. I may give it another go on PS5 Pro or PS6 if it gets a 60fps patch, when I'm old and I have more time on my hands, but right now, games like Elden Ring take my time.
I'd like to emphasize the no-drama part. A lot of people speak about small performance hiccups and bugs here and there, but at launch Elden Ring was the most complete game From Software game ever launched, and has more content than any of their games to date, including the expansions they have. Took me frikkin 130hrs to do the first playthrough, and while I did most of the optional contents, on the second playthrough I'm finding new areas, items, skills, sorceries/incantations, NPC qu...
I have two phats which run natively PS1 and PS2 apps, one is for spare parts. Both work, but are loud, so the one I'm using is in another room, around 11 meters away. 100% silent. PS3 controller works great through the walls! I need an extra one in case the laser or battery dies. To me, those old games are just so frikkin magical.
No need for difficulty settings! It's a work of art, no need to think how people experience it, and absolutely no need to think about fans. Make the game for yourselves, a game that you'd want to play, and see how it does. Forget the noise, and focus on creative process. Forget the keyboard warriors, fans and whatever out there. Art is art, and should not be compromised because people somehow suddenly need something.
