I welcome this with open arms. In fact, I'd love to have all the games on all platforms, I'm not a big fan of exclusives anymore. Consoles are very similar to PCs anyway, so I'd rather just have them release everything multiplatform. I want to see all the options on the table. I wish Nintendo would release their games on PC as well, I wouldn't mind playing a native app Breath of the Wild on a Steam Deck and desktop Steam app using cross-saves.
I sold my PS4 ...
That's a good tv. I have Sony 950G 65", and love it to bits. It's fantastic all arounder, and given that I use my PC desktop on it, I didn't want an OLED due to burn-in. I will probably look at the latest micro led backlighted LCDs next, when 4K120 becomes a trend, and GPUs can do that without breaking sweat. So that's probably in 2025 or so.
Correct. But at the same time, he has to believe in it, it's his job. That's how business works. You don't doubt yourself, you go forward until you really hit a brick wall. Then you admit your defeat, learn what went wrong, and start anew. At the same time, they are doing iterative analysis/development, and using POCs and MVPs to check what works and what doesn't. Build-measure-learn feedback loop!
I actually agree with you.
But we got what we got, and for what we got I want to game on the top hardware. It actually is a better overall experience when the fps is a stable (not dipping) 60fps in 4K native, and all effects and textures are maxed out. Sure, often dropping a meaningless ultra to high makes sense. Sometimes to Medium even.
You are 100% correct. This runs on 5700xt/rtx2070 PS5 settings exactly as it runs on PS5, or most likely 5-15% faster especially if you up the GPU power budget (limit) and throw in a good OC.
3080 is roughly double the PS5 GPU’s performance, and perhaps closer to an alleged Pro variant. Again, the power budget is much bigger, so an alleged Pro variant would be slower due to 200W/230W limit for the whole system, whereas a 3080 happily goes to 375W or higher if you use MPT. A...
I actually liked the cinematics, and I think there's some real good stuff here with the art and some of the enemy animations. I also think that if this would take a slightly different direction, and be developed for the next 2-3 years and fleshed out, there could be something here.
What I don't like is the complete copy-cat design stuff, because it just screams lack of creativity. The environments look very samey samey. Also, I really don't understand why the he...
Why would anyone at this day and age complain about this anymore? I mean, I don't see too many people carrying these bricks of consoles to a so remote place where there's no internet available, not even one where you can't share via your mobile phone. Plus if you can buy a console, I'm sure you can afford internet as well.
Thanks for the comment. I completely understand why path tracing is so expensive and used in these low end games to show it off. To me, it simply shows how far we still are from any reasonable implementation of RT in games. I think realistically we can talk about ray tracing for consoles when PS6 and XSX2 releases in 2026-2027, or for PC when RTX 5000 - RX 8000 series are out in 2025-2026. That's when it becomes somewhat realistic, because we have to remember the rasterization requirement...
Again, sure there are scenes where path racing looks realistic, but I just don’t know if it really looks better. And most of all, is it worth it everything considered (performance hit, heat and power consumption increase, hyper realistic lighting in a cartoon game.)
I agree. While Nintendo's own teams are good at coding and creating for it stable 60fps 720p/1080p experiences, other teams are not or don't have the time.
For example, a relatively simple indie game such as Children of Morta, runs horribly on Switch. There has to be some sort of memory leak or something, but the audio starts to crackle and fps drops to its teens. Plus the game sometimes gets stuck on loading screens after clearing a level. We love the game with my ...
Oh yeah! I will never forget the first time I stumbled into a horde in a cave... Slowly music building up, me wondering in a random cave thinking why is this sounding so ominous... and suddenly I turn right towards another pathway using my tiny flashlight, and boom... it was FULL of freaks and their eyes glowed, and they once they charged at me I was overwhelmed in a matter of seconds. It was like a nest of ants or aliens, two meters away from me, slumbering, and poor me woke them all up deep...
A fantastic game! Highly recommended. Mature, interesting, has its own personality and gameplay is fun and evolves.
@Nakiro
There's a massive difference between a case fan and heatsink fan. You don't know what you are talking about. Layman logic doesn't apply here, it's thermodynamics we are talking about here. Indeed the APU can be cooler while the fan is blowing out hotter air than before. Logic would state a smaller heatsink means higher internal temps, but with GPUs/CPUs this is not always the case, and there's plenty of evidence out there where a smaller noctua h...
Well Cyberpunk stands at 86/7.1 at Metacritic, which is in the 10th best percentile in critic score and 20th best percentile in player score. Now, I think the game is a ghost town, underdeveloped, and a downright mess, but the gaming media and apparently some players speak highly of it. Personally, I haven't tried it, but the youtube videos which point out the shallowness of the game keeps me away from it. The vision in the earlier trailers is not present in gameplay, and until it is, I w...
This whole video is completely BS. The amount of data in the pipeline is multiple times larger than what it was in PS3 era, it is tenfold or hundred fold, depending on the game.
This is starting to look like a must buy...
All the power to your opinion. I played recently the master chief collection through (somehow managed to finish Halo 4, it was such a drag), and thought that ODST had the best story. Reach was good as well, although the first and second halo will always have a special place in my heart, somehow ODST just hit me the most. It felt like a mini campaign, but the atmosphere and music was on another level for me.
Very interesting that they recommend 5700xt (PS5) and 2070 (Xbox Series X) for this. On spec for the current gen in many ways. XSX should perform incredibly well for this.
Let's see how my 6900xt 80 CUs performs under water at 2.7core/2.1mem at 400W. Theoretically it should be around 2.2x of XSX performance if the scaling is 1:1. If you look at Digital Foundry, that's what you end up with very often after a couple of patches down the line for PC.

Oh wow, rtx 2060 4K DLSS balanced (1080p internal resolution), huh... I do wonder if the trailer was truly captured with the 2060, or if they separately just gave those images on twitter. The lightning looks stunning, and I'm starting to think more and more that ray tracing in its current form is not required if you have something like UE5.
