Chained Echoes is an extremely good RPG. Just finished it this morning at 42hrs in-game playtime, and I have to say it was an emotional and interesting ride. One of the best RPGs I have played in a long, long time. Gripping from start to finish, and the themes it explores are also quite bold.

What a complete disaster of an article. FFXV and FFXVI has nothing to do with each other. On the other hand, FFXVI has everything to do with FFXIV which had the best Final Fantasy story in decades. Go and do some background research before writing up random stuff!

A fantastic game! Cleared it, and so did the wife. Very much enjoyed the music, story and atmosphere. And of course the secrets. Tunic has the best manual ever in video games!

Turn off RT and you can enjoy a locked 60fps with great details. Sure, the lighting isn't perfect, but it's better than the original and the SSR, foliage, textures, higher npc count and draw distance already are a great upgrade. Overall, really, just turn off RT and lock the FPS and enjoy any game rather than get stuck into thinking with what settings can you run the game with RT on, or tuning the RT settings. Sucks the fun out of gaming. And gaming is supposed to be fun!

Fair enough. Fighting a losing battle here alone, I think. I just still think as a plot device it is quite cheap, especially if it is not well explained. I don't think something like that should be in the first scene of a cinematic. Oh well, maybe I'm completely alone with this line of thinking... I guess many of the games I like have used similar tropes as well. Maybe high fantasy just isn't for me anymore...

Oh I'm a big fan of OS2 and Larian! Just saying that a game that has superb writing elsewhere has this trope that everyone knows in the industry is incredibly bad writing and a shortcut in an otherwise masterpiece of a game.

All of the dimension hopping and multiverse and portals etc. is just the stuff that makes games inferior to the best movies and writing out there in books. That ruined Witcher 3 plot for me completely as well. If it's a portal, I want well writ...

It does look like a good game, I just don't like how these guys appear from these random portals. In the movie writing scenes everyone says that if you have a portal that just appears and stuff comes out of it, this is an incredibly uninspiring shortcut and overall bad writing. I don't like games and movies just have some random portal appear and then things just come out. It's too convenient, no matter what the backstory to that portal is. I just can't stop thinking about the...

PS5 here in Japan is still at cheapest 20K JPY above MSRP if you just want to go and pick one up today. Digital Edition at around $500, MSRP is $350. Cheapest disc drive version is at $550 against MSRP of $400. The lottery system has frustrated a lot of people here. The situation has improved just a tiny bit, but it will take another 6-12 months to be able to pick up a PS5 from the store at normal launch prices.

I get it, I'm a PC enthusiast, but I just feel that what we, and I do, way too much is checking out puddles and mirrors for reflections, rooms for lighting effects and rocks and trees for shadows.

I understand Path Tracing is expensive, and I get the DF side of things and all that. I listen to them and learn everyday, and I really like their cast and what they are doing.

I just genuinely think that the narrative and discussion is revolving too much ...

And in a bad way! This is not where gaming should be going. We should focus more on better physics, AI, more meaningful writing, substance in storytelling and overall art over reflections and lighting effects. But hey, you've got billion dollar companies trying to sell you stuff, so I guess you have to make a whole ecosystem around ray tracing because people make a living out of it on youtube. Talk about losing touch with reality and taking eye off the ball. Advancing gaming as a whole my...

Spiderman is a more modern game that has a higher rendering resolution, more complex environments / animations / systems / overall one large single world with more reflections, but it runs at a higher resolution and double the frame rate. Witcher 3 is a series of sets of relatively limited and non vertical open-world in comparison.

This is a bad job by the Dev, and typical of them joining forces with Nvidia just like with Cyberpunk. Don't try and make this sound like AM...

It is a complete mess on PC, especially on RDNA2 (same chip PS5 and Series X has).

5600X + 6900XT, both overclocked to be around 2.2x the Tflops and overall performance with triple the power budget, is a #stutterstruggle. The ultra (no RT) barely hits 60fps at FSR2 Quality (rendering resolution at 1440p!!). Enabling RT drops it to 30-40fps and the FPS is all over the place, fluctuating from 25-50, a nice 100% fluctuation.

CD Project RED has learned abso...

I want your CPU! Would love to upgrade to 5800X3D, but can't be arsed to do so from 5600X. Probably will just give the current PC to the wife, and build another 7800X3D model from scratch based on AM5 1st gen, and then upgrade in 2026. The current 6900XT + 5600X still runs PS5 games extremely fast, though, especially when multithreading is turned off for games like GOW and Spiderman.

Still waiting for RTX4090 preblocked version, though. Want to plug n play to my custom ...

You are not incorrect with the pricing or PS5 being better value, but you commented on a thread which was speculating the performance of GPUs and PS5, not the value of them.

Also RRP or MSRP, or whatever guidance price level has been set for whichever products, vary by a large degree per region and country (currency, availability etc.). Here in Japan you can buy 2070 super for less than half the price of a PS5.

But all of this is beside the point, I was...

Another fantastic PS5 game comes to PC! Housemarque is a top studio, and can't wait to play their latest. 6900xt 4K FSR2 Quality, everything cranked to the max, Dualsense controller and home theater set up, and I'm set to go!

Looks like the PS5 experience is at the 6700XT and RTX2070 Super level, which is very equivalent to an optimized PS5 game on PC, except with a couple of small settings here and there turned to slightly higher.

Miyazaki's own criticism towards Elden Ring was initially a bit strange and hard to swallow. However, once you realize that his previously directed games are much tighter and have more focus and as a result are in isolation perhaps even better than Elden Ring, it becomes apparent why he says what he does.

The game is incredibly good, but I think there are too large areas with not much in it, or sometimes the items and rewards are very random and not usable always for y...

"The One Major Flaw God of War Ragnarök is Missing"
So it's missing a major flaw. That's great! So it's a positive.

"But the title is missing 1 major element, finally facing his original self."
Yes, the title of this article is truly facing its (not "his"!) original self. It is missing the flaw! Oh numbers under 10 are written, so it should be "one" but hey, maybe it's number 1 major element, who...

Monolith Software took a massive risk with Xenoblade Chronicles. They were internally on a brink of financial catastrophy, and Takahashi-san mentioned the team felt this will be the final game they can ever work at this scale with him and in the company, and thus poured their soul and heart into the game. It became a cult classic, and prompted the M&A with Nintendo which saved them. Now they are thriving.

Also, I think Nier: Replicant, and Demon's Souls was higher ...
