Saw this live a couple of times after a client meeting. It was a sight to behold, and a lot of people get stopped by this and try and figure out how the 3D effects work. Very Blade Runner-esque stuff!
Jin, you are quoting random research about a different topic, in a normal conversation you'd be immediately flagged for "whataboutism". Again, I didn't say it was my opinion, I just said there's research about it. It is a fact that there's research about it. It's not my fault someone researched it.
There's a lot of research out there that watching porn is actually quite harmful to relationships. Not saying it is, just pointing out the fact that there's such research in abundance. Similarly, there are case studies about weirdos who take panty shots both in virtual and real life, and how that affects crossing the line when/if they blow up. Again, not judging here or revealing my own opinion, just pointing out there's research in these areas and the data points to one quite cle...
Can we stop these hypothetical sensationalist opinion pieces? Nobody knows what the game is like until it releases.
More fear please!!
Microsoft is more profitable and has a 17 times higher topline, and have been more aggressive in the past in M&A. 5bn USD is nothing, Activision acquisition is around 70bn USD. Sony is planning "aggressively" to spend less than 7.5% of what Microsoft is doing here. Even Zenimax was more than that at 7.5bn USD. For comparison, Sony paid 3.6bn for Bungie. So yes, Jim is trying to keep the competition alive and a level playing field. Learn business.
Jim is trying to keep the competition alive, which is good for both consumers and creatives.

@Foxrot, Yeah, I'm sure you have all the knowledge in the world how to lead a 133 year old 13 Billion dollar company. It's very easy to lead 7000 employees as well. Just let them all know it's their nationality based stubborness and I'm sure they will follow you to whatever path you will take!
While I love The Last of Us, I liked Elden Ring and all of the Souls games more. Interestingly, I liked the slightly more linear souls games more in some aspects, but on others, Elden Ring was better. Perhaps, I'm a semi-open world kind of guy, the Zelda/Metroidvania type where things open up slowly and surely. The first Dark Souls was really interesting, and Demon's Souls approach, they were slightly limited, but still open. That's something I was hoping to see more in Elden Ring...
You don't deserve the game at a dirt cheap price point.
While the PC ports are stuttery in the beginning, it's still not as hard as many think. The best way to play games is to use optimized settings on PC, which often are PS5 settings. Then you just crank up resolution and refresh rate, and add one or two extra effects that do not create stutters or what not. It takes one youtube video to check the settings. You just have to be okay with what you choose and leave it there till the next patch comes. Then you check another trusted youtube video...
Finished the game yesterday, the Act 3. Very good game overall. There are places where it can improve, but still, it was a great experience. Finally a Housemarque game I can finish lol
That seriously is impressive, and I hope they invest the money well in new development, but also share it with the employees. I'd love to have more new IPs like Bloodborne and Sekiro when they launched, and maybe push the gameplay to different and interesting new directions while still maintaining the Souls core.
I've got the original Japanese version that I can play on PS3 phat, no bugs or weird upscaling!
This is not about Nintendo or Nvidia. MS signed the 10-year deals with both companies to push the Activision acquisition forward, and to try and convince regulators they are not taking CoD away from the crowds in a decade at least. This is business politics, and Nintendo and Nvidia happily accepted the cash to have their name in the hat.
I am using VRR, yes, but still, it is a bit of a mess due to frame-time spikes and inconsistencies. VRR is good for reasonably fluctuating fps with relatively stable frame-times, but when the frame-times go out the window, VRR struggles.
Having bought Hogwarts Legacy and Returnal at launch, I can say that while they are playable, it would have been a better idea to buy them 6-12 months down the line after several patches. PC gaming is like this, can't help it, too many ...
Towards the end of the game even my 4090 on the epic settings cannot hold a solid 120fps using DLSS Quality. It seems the game has not been optimized till the end, and only for the first half. I wouldn't mind Frame Generation in the game to keep it at solid 120fps. Absolutely fantastic game, though! Clocked in 14 hours today, jaysus!
I would presume a new Tomb Raider and Deus Ex game is on its way, and a Perfect Dark title, but I do wonder what the other two games might be. Legacy of Kain and one more Marvel game?
I enjoyed Control, it was very Max Payne-esque in terms of gameplay with an interesting setting. Graphics were solid as well. However, I thought it had too monotonous of environments and story pacing was uneven. I do believe it is a great foundation of a larger metroidvania type of a game, which hopefully Control 2 will become.
I wish they make the upgrades meaningful, story better paced and written, and finally have more variety in the gameplay loop and environments. Also,...
