Computer graphics are, as the Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said, approximation of an image or reality of something (such as the imagination of the developer). Note: That is not a direct quote.
The actual photo-realistic graphics are years away. The approximation of life-like graphics, that will fool the gamers to believe that what is happening on the screen is actually very similar to real life, will arrive with the next xbox and playstation consoles.
So technically...
Now I understand much better what you meant :) I appreciate your attitude as well! 電気の怪物はやっぱり怪物じゃないみたいですね。
You can find all the latest games everywhere in China, and they are much cheaper as well. Although, if you want the official (read:legal) ones, they cost almost the same as everywhere else. If you are on a budget you can get a 500Gig PS3 with pre-installed games for around 230usd or so from the local games dealer. They are usually slightly off the main streets (that'...
It's the same in Europe (that's where I'm from).
@e-p-ayeaH: The smoking law, that I was comparing this law to, is ridiculous. They banned public smoking. But in real life, absolutely nothing changed, everyone smokes just like they used to. The same is with this game console law. It hasn't been applied on the grassroots level. So it was not a comparison between game consoles and smoking, but between the methodology of application of these laws.
Your comment is very immature. Have you ever even been to China?
I have lived in China for two years, and also in Japan for five. I can say I immensely enjoyed both of the countries, their people, language and culture. That includes the gaming culture that is very present also in China. You can literally go to a bar and play the latest games on Xbox 360 or PS3 there with a nice sound and 200" video projector. We had loads of Tekken and Virtua Fighter tournaments while d...
Yeah open it and play Shenmue like it was supposed to be played!
It's still one of the best games ever made. Try and get a hold of the Shenmue II (European version) as well and play that.
Happy gaming with one of the best systems and games of all time :)
(Take this with a grain of salt!)
Their strategy is obvious and very well-thought.
They knew Wii U won't sell as much as Wii and they are prepared for N64/Gamecube levels. You just cannot have another hit when the market has changed so drastically towards mobile devices.
3DS is the reason they have nothing to lose. It's their trump card (money maker) that will serve as their inevitable steps of evolution in gaming business: Mobile+Hom...
I can second that. Dark Souls was the latest game that kept me up until small hours.
Ni No Kuni has that magic FFVI/FFVII/FFXII, Demon's Souls and Dragon Quest VIII had. The gameplay is incredibly addicting, and the story is heart-warming.
As a relatively adult (I'm 30) gamer I thought for a while if I should invest into such a "childish looking game". How ludicrous my thoughts were! This is exactly as childish as Sen To Chihiro was (Spirite...
Tetsuya Takahashi + Xeno game + HD Console = Buy
I just started the Japanese all-in-one edition today (it's basically the same as the US version). I played already like 4 hours non-stop and I just paused to rant about it on the internet!
There's just something magical about this game. It's like playing FFIV, FFVI or FFVII for the first time, except now you feel like you are in a Ghibli's fantasy world adventuring. The world is rich in all sorts of ways!
I recommend everyone who likes games t...
Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII, Ico, Shadow Of The Colossus, Shenmue I & II, Flower, Journey, Ryuu Ga Gotoku series, Dragon Quest series, original Deus Ex, System Shock II, Shin Megami Tensei series, Super Mario 64, Metal Gear Solid series and despite all the fandom, Final Fantasy VII.
Those are the games that changed my life or added spice to it.
Now I just need to find a cute Japanese girl who likes this...
It seems Kotaku's tactics are simply to be against the popular beliefs to raise questions and opposition. They are throwing gasoline to the debates that are already in flames.
Is there a way to block their "articles"? Maybe we should all join together and make a petition of 5000 people and send that to N4G? I think we had enough of their immature and random rants.
Personally, I think Yakuza series is one of the real (take it how you will) gaming...
I checked out the source and it indeed says that N company, C company and S company (the latter two especially) are negotiating. It was interesting that C company was labeled as negotiating at the "enemy camp" (direct translation).
Pays off being fluent in Japanese! (finally I could boast off! :)
I wish Sony had their best selling PSP series on Vita, Mon Han (the way Japanese say it) screams PSP vita. It's so much about control and that second s...
What on earth is this? I lack words to describe how childish the video was.
I sort of hoped gamers were smarter than the average person, but then again I have clearly been quite the optimist.
When I was young we used to... *blaa blaa*
One of the most mature games out there. Also, one of the best.
I praise the scenes where Delita and Ramza would produce a collision of their ideals both understanding each other on a philosophical level, but yet had their own motives and catalysts to advance their personal quest.
It's interesting how the original versions of similarly mature games were always too ambitious for their time, thus they were incomplete towards the end (i.e. Xenogears, FFT, FF...
A new business model.
I don't think it's that difficult to analyze this one.
Someone (Capcom) just realized Ninja Theory can produce very good games after Heavenly Sword and especially Enslaved. They didn't sell, because they were strange, overhyped, had one or two major problems or what not. Overall, they were still pretty good experiences for the ones who got to the end.
However, Capcom realized this band of developers could produce something good if they are well gu...
TGS has absolutely not been on the decline. It has simply changed with the market.

And this year was better than last.
Check your facts. The game is played by the numbers, not by random assumptions.
Well, what I think is that eventually gaming tablets will become the "boxed" consoles of the future through connectivity to TVs and home theaters.
So why not make a boxed console that has a gaming tablet as a controller with proper physical controls and a box at home capable of those high end graphics?
Reduce the graphics for the portable experience and you will have the casual people playing on the go, and all those enthusiasts at home.
...
Here's a strange concept for PS4:
Create a secondary Wii U Gamepad-like controller that you can take with you and use it as a portable gaming machine to continue your sessions in lower resolution and graphical settings, plus add normal smartphone functions.
Add all playstation ecosystems (mobile, PSN games etc.) in it through Gaikai or a streaming service.
If the product gets too expensive, use monthly (12/24) contracts. Premium contract...
I'm just a normal whore. For me, graphic quality and FPS are lower than other values in games!
I guess I'm lowest of the lowest even in whore class :(
On topic, I see no harm releasing a second GOTY edition with graphic upgrades and DLC in the box for next gen consoles.
