Its a small developer, developing for consoles usually requires huge licesence fees to be paid to Microsoft and Sony(which in the end is borne by the consumer note how every console game is 10-20usd costlier then the PC counterpart). Along with that comes the cost to learn to develop for the console.

I think the Console market has barriers to entry which is why the Indie scene is so successful on PC. Recent example being of Torchlight which managed 500,000+ plus copies on P...

Well yes it sucks when someone has a collection of games from the PS2 era, and now cant play them.

You can say "go buy a PS2", however the problem with that is it takes space to place an old machine also its hard to find a PS2 in the market now and even if you do find one you dont know how old it really is, it could have been laying around at the shop for ages, older hardware may be prone to failure.

Hence getting a PS2 isnt really a good option...

No surprise PC always does win.

@rockleex

Sorry to dissapoint you but no matter how powerful the Cell is, it does have a limited budget on memory bandwidth. If you know anything about how hardware works, you will know Graphics heavily rely on Size of memory and the bandwidth (PS3 is lacking in both those departments).

Even after Sony is using the Cell, they are limited to 720p graphics on all their AAA games.

As i pointed out in a thread below, Cell itself only has 25...

So what happens when someone buys the PS4, does this remain compatible. Or do we need to fork out more money for another adapter?

Sony really should give us BC on current PS3s for all previous hardware. Same should happen when the PS4 launches. Games cost alot of money and if we have to dish out more money just to be able to play them just doesnt sound right.

This is a step in the right direction. Steam is growing very fast. I constantly see more and more users online on the service.

The PS3 only has 512MB of ram which isnt alot by any means by todays standard.

System ram Has a bandwidth of 25.6GB/s
Video ram has a bandwidth of 22.4GB/s

http://playstation.about.co...

Any mid range gpu of today alone has over 125GB/s.

Hence in todays terms the PS3 is short on Ram and its Ram should be considered very slow....

The PC version is listed for a sept 28 release date on steam, no price yet though.

Can we let the PC rig Expensive mantra die? Its just spreading misinformation.

I agree there is nothing great about Halo. I been playing FPS on PC since the quake 2 days. Halo has done nothing we havent seen before.

In fact Games like TF2 walk all over Halo. Huge community, lots of user created content (something Microsoft would never allow their base to get, they would rather charge DLC).

Lets hope this isnt on console. Since that usually requires games to get dumped down. 1St one nearly sold 2 million on PC alone so far. Which is very good for a game with no royalty to be paid (since console makers charge royalties, which in the end has to be born by the consumer), no Advertisement. Since 80% of PC sales are digital packaging and transport costs are avoided too.

In the end its a win win situation for the consumer and the Developer. No middle men to feed(aka...

Except when you upgrade a PC you can still play all your old games plus you can play them at a higher resolution and AA.

However with console you dont have any gaurantee that games from previous generation will work and even if they do, they will still be running at resolutions from the previous generation.

PC Currently wins when it comes to BC and Cost effectiveness.

Eh yea asides Cod and anything blizzard puts together, anything else Activision publishes is a flop these days (not counting casual stuff like DJ hero).

@ Microsoft

Stop your PR bull.

Warcraft, Mario are easily bigger then Halo and thats just of the top of my head. I am sure there are many other single platform games that top Halo.

That would happen if you are still using a 486 Machine with 16megs of ram.

PS+ might look good compared to XBL, However it pales in comparison to Steam. Have a look at the discounts available around the holidays and u will get what i mean.

Last year got my smaller brother a PC gaming rig. It was around the time Steam was having its discounts, I got him about 30 games for a 100usd. Included games like:

All of valve games (Counter Strike, Half life 2 + all episodes, TF2, L4d1, L4d2, Day of defeat, Portal, many more).

Live or PSN cant compare to the awesome deals available on Steam. Lets not forget 5 years from now when new consoles are launched, Current games bought on PSN or Live may not work on the next console. With Steam or any other DD service for that matter its 99% gauranteed games will work with your next PC even 10 years from now.

we really dont need another sequel so fast. L4d2 hardly added much more to l4d 1. Its just melee weapons, and some new guns with new maps. I would hardly call that a new game.

I wouldnt like it if Valve starts following the console Dev trend, which involves releasing sequeal after sequeal. Instead i would like to see valve support their game with new content just like they support TF2.

If PS3 owners feel they are being left out with the L4D series (which...

Lol true,

From what i recall they lost 50million usd last year, even after accounting the AC2 sales on consoles. If this game comes riddled with DRM i will not be making a purchase.

Its mostly Ubisoft doing this. Most PC releases are on time. Ill be waiting on the PC version for sure.

Went steam 3 years back, havent bought a game from retail ever since. Aside the Starcraft 2 i bought last month.

DD is just more convienient and cheaper. Steam discounts are insane. got over 90 games on Steam now, and some more on other services. I got no idea where i would keep all those packagings had i bought hard copies. I would end up throwing them away due to lack of space.
