Crysis sold 3.5m copies on PC alone as of may 2010, by now its probably over 4m. Pirates will always pirate it, however i do feel real buyers who havent been given a chance to demo the game will end up torrenting the leak to see what the game is like, in the end they will probably end up buying it.
This is freaking awesome i already have a HTPC loaded with Steam, has a HD 5870 on it. If Steam became more TV friendly it would be great.
Isnt that the case with about every game out. lets look at the upcoming games of this year PC will win in almost every one of them:
Battle field 3
Brink
Crysis 2
Dead island
Dragon age 2
Duke Nukem
Dues Ex
Elder scrolls 5
Home Front
Hunted Demons forge
Portal 2
Rage
Pretty much every game getting released is superior on PC and can be picked up dirt cheap on ...
Its still better on PC then console, however the game has been dumbed down for the casuals.
Because the first 1 didnt run well on consoles, it had frame rate issues on the PS3 (because PS3 version offered better textures), while Xbox had good frame rate it had poor textures. In a word there was compromise on both the consoles. PC version was the best overall version.
Since the Consoles couldnt handle the first game well they decided to dumb it down in terms of graphics.
RPG of the year material.
"Game reviewers don't help much either... as they usually spunk all over the internet by giving biast reviews of the Call of Duty games. If I was a reviewer, i'd be docking points for bugs, Single Player campaign length and dodgy graphics."
Its all about the $$ mate, the biggest review sites are often paid to give good reviews. Very few reviewers will deny taking the money and those that do deny end up getting fired.
MOH honor was terrible tbh, i would think people should try out games like:
TF2, darn cheap and they come with everything a gamer would dream of:
Dedicated servers
16 vs 16 matches
Developer support (no milking with constant DLC and rehashed yearly release).
Community Mods
Its one of the most fun FPS games out there.
Plans for a console release have been put on hold for the moment.
"Besides the graphics it would be the same experiance on consoles it seems."
Only as long as the stock game is concerned, These sort of games should be fully appreciated modded. Problem is once these games go console then the developer tends to get greedy, in the follow up release they take away mod tools and want to instead release DLC after DLC, its happened with almost every ga...
As of may 2010 3.5million PC gamers also had bought the game, thats as good as any Console exclusive.
Going multiplat was corporate greed.
Lol i wonder how much Xbox gamers must have paid extra compared to PC version in DLCs alone and then still lacking in terms of graphics and mods rofl.
PC version can be modded with high res textures, i think it would win that way.
Its one of the best RPGS released in the past few years. I played it about a year back, with the mods, i am sure if you researched some other great mods will be out ;-) Anyways the 2 of these were an awesome combo.
there are 2 mods you should use to get the full experience:
Hi res character mod:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/w...
Hi res texture mod:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/t...
The 2 of these mods make witcher 1 look better then most rpgs out today.
You should try running Witcher 1 with texture mods. The game looks so much better.
What makes playing on PC so much better then console is the mods that are put out later, they completely change the game. (specially for RPG genre games, take a look at oblivion modded, if the PC version blew the console counterpart when in stock, the Modded version of Oblivion is just so much better).
When these games get ported over to consoles then developers start getti...
Steam is freaking awesome man
Most console gamers prefer to play on game pad, even if PS3 does support Mouse KB, the development cant happen just based on Mouse KB, they need to make sure it works for the controller as well. Since console gamers usually dont like playing with Mouse KB, Which is the reason why hardly any games support Mouse KB on PS3.
I was getting portal for PC and my brother who plays on PC and PS3 was thinking of getting the PS3 version since you get A PC version free. However after we saw Valves coop package yesterday, we can get a copy each for 40usd. Enough of a deal to ensure he wont be getting the PS3 version.
Sony charging for older games pretty much ensures they wont be giving BC on the PS4, why give BC when they can charge for it?
Its just Imvix said, taking control of the gamers. With PC i was playing old games like Max payne 2 and dungeon keeper 2 few months back, what developer will like a platform to have that sort of BC? NONE.
Valve wont be desserting the PC, why else are they doing what no AAA developer currently does. Support games endlessly and give freedom to the gamer. Their games like TF2, L4D2 still constantly receive free updates from valve and constant mods from the user base.
Thing is like MS and Sony support their platforms, Valve makes the bulk of its money from Steam hence they must support that base and ensure it grows.
Which is why Consoles will always be a after...
