I think the Cell is a mixed bag. It can do GPU tasks better then a CPU, however when it comes to general purpose CPU tasks it would probably get slaughtered even at the hands of a dual core cpu.
Thing is when games are developed for PC, they hardly ever give any graphics tasks to the CPU, the GPUs are so powerful giving any of those tasks to the cpu would be a waste. Equip a dual core CPU with any midrange GPU even an 8800gtx which is 4 years old...
Think most people already have that sort of stuff, just like they have a TV. No one considers the price of an HDTV when they say 300usd for the console.
My current Keyboard is a g15 bought it like 3years back. Mouse is 8years old, laser mouse i bought long while back, Sound system is 5.1 i bought 10years back still holding up well.
I guess most people will be having all those accessories. Though adding those in cant be too much.
Risen on PC was awesome man. Cant wait for this one.
Zootang while u r at it u might as weLl start linking alienware. Stop being retarted, its not hard making a very good gaming pc for 600-800 usd (400-500gbp). Later on game prices are more then enough to make pc cheaper in the long run.
@zootang
No ones advocating piracy here. If people are buying software then using emulators for superior graghiics or backward compatibility I don't see the harm.
@max3091
The money is cattering to all platforms at once. PC software sales are quite strong. However its more favorable for them to cater to 3 platforms instead of just one.
Why do you think games like MGS Rising are now coming to PC. Its not like consoles dont have the sales. The point is catering to more platforms the better chance of more sales and since PC happens to be the platform which is far ahead in tech, it also happens to be the platform that ...
@gillri
You forgot the multiscreen users.
Sony fans are in full damage control mode failing to realise PS3 is just about as hardware limited as the 360. Giving example of Mag is just fail.
Want to play BF3 the way its ment to be played get a mid range pc that will cost you 500-600usd.
@bloodyNapkin
Cod & halo are about the only game that is played in high number onconsoles. Other games not so much.
Ever considered how many people are playing on Wow everyday? yea thats in millions. Add in the other MMOs its huge.
Then add in the number of people playing games like:
Counter strike, Warcraft 3, Team fortress 2, Starcraft 1 & 2.
Thing with console gamers is they keep jumping ...
Haha did he really just say that. There are more people playing online on PC everyday then all consoles combined.
Large maps with several objectives would need people working together. That is something that very rarely happens on console. People usually go off alone, with little to no teamwork at all.
PC gaming on the other hand is different the crowd is more mature and tends to work together. Hence larger maps are more suited to that demographic.
Lol think you have memory or are plain ignorant of facts.
Crysis 1 sold 3.5million as of may 2010, is that too hard to remember?
@gillri
AMD and Nvidia have shot themselves in the foot by supporting consoles, there is no other way about it. Their latest and greatest hardware is now hardly used.
With consoles in a matter of 5 years they have sold maybe 80-100million chips. divide that between the 2 of them and its only 40-50mill in 5 years. something they acheive on PC in maybe 1.5 years (i am talking mid range to high end chips here).
Now if games are going to be...
When companies like Crytek fail to even provide a AA adjustment setting on a PC game. I would say PC gamers need to stop with the upgrades.
If AMD and Nvidia will not stand up to tell the devs to support their hardware, there is no need to support these companies either.
@AMD & Nvidia
have fun selling gpus to console gamers who buy a system once in 7 years. Ill certainly not buy another GPU until next consoles are out since current ...
Only if you head over too Alienware sure u will get butt raped.
Make one yourself, or make a informed purchse decision. It may be couple hundered more then console but the software is cheaper and it has insane amont of BC. In the long run it will be cheaper then console.
PC has plenty of money too, but why make a game for 1 platform when you can make a game for 3 and get all the sale tallied up.
Game like crysis 1 sold more then 3.5million units on pc, thats better then many console exclusives. Why did crytek go multiplat then? its simple on 3 platforms with less effort they will get better sales.
Agreed PC gamers should simply stop with the upgrades until AMD and Nvidia feel the pinch.
There is no point to upgrades when games like Crysis 2 are coming out with DX9 day one. I am a PC gamer exclusively i dont game on console, but i have decided not to make any more upgrades until the next consoles.
Thats because they havent gone console... yet. note how any company that goes console all of a sudden starts releasing DLC. Its because most console gamers arent aware that stuff like maps, skins, new guns should be free or developed by the modding community.
DLC initially started by Microsoft. Xbox gamers willingly accepted it because sadly console gamers have blind brand loyalty, once they were told the word "exclusive" people jumped onboard paying for stuff th...
Question is why would people pay for mod tools for a game when great games from devs like Valve offer full mod support for free.
I dont think PC gamers are as easy to convince on paying up as console gamers are.
Also even if they charged for one time mods, it would open up avenues for gamers to extend the life of the game beyond what the dev would like.
Notice how developers are mostly releasing rehash after rehash these days with littl...
True most Xbox exclusives are there on the PC. Its only the PS3 exclusives that PC doesnt have. Multiplats are superior on PC anyways.
