I am actually pretty disappointed. I had really high hopes, but sources are saying that Nintendo is opting for a smaller battery in the Lite, which is going to make all the difference. It's using the new Mariko chip (X1 variant), which is smaller, draws less power, and is capable of higher clock speeds. Instead of keeping a larger battery in, and either allowing for A: Much greater than 30 percent battery life increase (from 3 up to 4 hours in BotW), or B: Significant improvement in handh...
And it's not like they weren't going to make this device for the sake of a handful of games. They have a very good idea of how much money they're going to make with it.
Yes, it is designed to be a more attractive buy for children, due to durability and cheaper costs. Nintendo has sales and demographic numbers and knows who they need to reach. It's probably going to sell very well over the next three years, especially after a price drop below $200.
I have a question: How expensive do you guys think the PS5 is going to be, if the slim model is still $300, and the Pro $400?
The Vita certainly had those issues. I've done more than one joystick replacement. More prominent with the second generation variant.
I'm glad she got to see the game's wonderful ending. It must have meant alot to her.
Oh, they know what they're doing. Using people's nostalgia to part them with their money.
It's so they can get more money before they finish work on it lol.
Because the game isn't finished, and they're going to promise content, take even MORE money, and then decide what they can make with it lol. Not gonna waste my disk space on this game.
If they're treating people like this already, and then selling to Epic, I'd bet they're hoping to sell out with it entirely. Get picked up and funded by an actual publisher for another game, or sell the IP entirely. It's obvious at this point it was never for the fans, or their desire to create another Shenmue out of care for it. Been about $$$ from the beginning.
Because they already got their money xD
Nintendo receives LOTS of telemetry, people did breakdowns a year back ago when hacking started.
There are many reasons why they would want to update the chip. One is manufacturing. If companies are set up to mass produce with newer methods/materials/what have you, it can save them money in bulk. Also, the original chip used in the Switch has a notorious exploit that makes it ludicrously easy to hack. It was patched, but that's merely a stopgap, and it has already been hacked up to certain firmwares as well. Having a more power-efficient version of the X1 allows it to run at the spee...
Try to find the X1 chip itself for that cheap; A dev kit for the Jetson TX1 (basically the Switch's chip) still costs about $400. I don't think people understand how much goes into business and manufacturing to get things to the consumer as cheap as they are.
As do I, but many don't, and may be more willing to jump in now. It's a more attractive purchase for children as well. Cheaper, most likely more durable.
Well, there aren't any controllers at all, it's a handheld console. To my knowledge, there's never been a handheld console that supports rumble. Aside from draining battery, there are durability and engineering problems with it. Hard to fit in, could easily break.
Just with 6.5x the amount of RAM, a 30 percent increase in resolution and a GPU more than 5x faster.
I still like my Vita though lol.
3DS sales have already dropped off a cliff since the Switch's release. Nintendo is done with it.
This is one of the reasons why Pokemon was never allowed to be delayed, and why Game Freak probably despise working on the titles at this point. Being forced to create what market research tells them to, by a certain time, so the Pokemon Company can make more money off merch, toys, movies, cards, etc, than the games themselves ever will. Man, I used to love the series, but it's soulless now. Cool looking Switch though lol. Will sell out immediately.
I am pretty sure the HDMI out components have been removed. There is a board in the dock that handles video out, power output, etc, and a component within the console itself that communicates with it. N doesn't conform to industry electrical standards, which is why third party accessories and docks will brick your system, as no one knows what the correct amount of power to supply to the system is. Long story short, it's probably all been taken out.
