Of course it is, that's kinda like saying a game like Paper Mario is still influenced by Nintendo when Intelligent Design does all the development now (Nintendo helped on the first). Microsoft owned Bungie, owns 343, and owns Halo. How much can they really change? They tried to push in a different direction with 4, and people complained to no end, even though it was a very fine game in its own right.
Yes, the original is still the lowest selling in the main, numbered series, if you're not including Code Veronica.
Yes, it sold millions less, and was a shorter game. It's still the lowest selling main RE game, other than Code Veronica. Two of the areas that were missing for the remake as well were never intended to be in the original, but were added in by orders from higher ups as padding to increase the game's length. RE3 was also released a little over a year after 2, and had the same problems back then as people have now with the remake lol.
Next news will be Xbox One version canceled.
It will never happen, but MS should just delay the entire console at this point. I know, Christmas sales and all, but with all the crap going on, I wonder how many are going to have the extra money this holiday at all...
For all we know the entire economy could be collapsed in a few months lol.
Called it!
Keep it going Capcom! Hoping to see some more Monster Hunter soon.
It was great fun, fantastic production, just really, really short for a full price game. 2 came out a year before, and had three times the content about for the same price. Which was honestly one of the problems with the original RE3 as well.
Halo 4 was awesome, played great, good campaign, looked stunning when it released, and was reviewed very well. Also sold close to 10 million copies, and was one of the best selling games of 2012. I would consider that a blockbuster. They've supported MCC wonderfully. Halo 5, I think they dropped the ball with the story, although with the expanded universe, Halo lore has become quite a mess in general. There are dozens of books, comics, website lore, animated shorts, etc, that you pretty m...
Trust me, PS4 owners want SMT as well lol.
I'd be surprised if Halo hit the release date without a delay. I bet they're in panic mode right now. Although, now that I think about it, the Master Chief Collection barely even worked on launch day, but 343 did do right and work on it for years after.
If X ran Windows, that would be absolutely amazing from a modding perspective. Would love to own a gaming PC for half the price for similar performance. Hackers would end up breaking the thing inside out. Gamecube and Wii emulation on it? Yes please.
What? Halo 1-3 were all absolutely groundbreaking games. The original Xbox was miles ahead of the other two consoles in terms of graphics that gen. Halo 1 changed shooters forever, and Halo 2 popularized online console gaming with Xbox Live. Halo 3 looked amazing when it launched, and Forge was practically a revelation at the time. I remember how many people were floored by graphical details, like the inscriptions on spent shells in the game. 4 and 5 were fine games, but were nowhere near as ...
No, no way. DF has been incredibly critical of the Xbox in the past, and they are held in very high regard in the gaming community. No way are they shilling for MS. If they were doing that, they'd be taking money from Sony and Nintendo as well, making them completely false as content creators. Also, I really don't think the average consumer knows what the hell Digital Foundry even is. We're talking about a channel with less than a million subscribers that's focused primarily o...
What's going on is that they're mostly months behind schedule, but had to put something together for a trailer, because Microsoft couldn't just say "sorry, Covid ruined the Xbox launch, we've got nothing!" Microsoft and Sony wouldn't delay the launch of these consoles, even if they launched with nothing lol.
Have fun paying for a PC that will run games coming out in the next 5-7 years in 4k/60 fps then lol. That's far outside of most people's budgets, or will to build and maintain a gaming PC. People buy consoles for a reason. Also, as for multi-platform games, we'll have to wait and see what kind of performance variances we get between the PS5 and Series X.
Been saying this for awhile: Many studios will still target 30fps next gen in order to increase graphical fidelity. We will see this all throughout the entirety of the next console generation, outside of fps games, racers, first party, and some exceptions. Graphics sell, and if given the choice of having a higher framerate or having to scale back visual fidelity, guess which one is going to go first?
Also, what if with diminishing returns, and longer development times for what consum...
What sucks is that, covid has kinda crippled the game industry for the moment. Studios are months behind schedule, but they gotta go full steam ahead with the console launches anyways. This showcase (and Sony's) would be much better five months from now, but they won't delay hardware launches for anything.
This is your chance Microsoft! I hope they know they cannot mess this up like the Xbox One launch. I remain hopeful. Something I'd like to see, that could potentially be possible, is implementing something like ERSGAN or Google's upscaling AI into an easy to use process, to automatically build updated texture packs for BC games, namely original Xbox titles. It's already done wonders for the emulation community. If you're not familiar, people dump textures, and use an AI upscla...
Translation: They'd like to charge more for their games, but there either isn't enough information for them to decide it's a long-term profitable decision, or everyone is playing chicken and doesn't want to be the first asshole to say they're doing it.
