It's also more than $100 cheaper than either of those consoles. We're also talking about entirely different hardware. Faster GPU clock, much smaller SoC (7nm compared to 16), more memory with a faster bandwidth, which is also GGDR6 opposed to 5, faster CPU, SSD, etc.

There is no enforced standard lol. We're still going to see games with dynamic resolutions and less than 60 fps throughout this entire upcoming generation. If a studio has the resources available, and have 4K locked, I can't fault them for wanting to push engines further with graphical effects, modeling, AI and physics at the cost of that resolution. Especially if certain games are going to want to focus on ray tracing, they'll probably build it around 30 fps. As long as it's ...

Exactly. There are millions of people who won't be in the market for buying a new console for years. Sony will probably continue to manufacture the PS4 for five years or longer, and continue to see a steady stream of hardware and software sales when it drops in price again. At $200? That's a Christmas gift for children, or a "my dad/grandpa bought a PS4 to play golf and fishing games." People dropping $500 on launch day are serious gamers, those with enough money not to care...

It is cheaper than a One X lol. It's also cheaper than a PS4 Slim or Xbox One S, even at this moment. That's the whole point. No one has to buy it if they want something more graphical. Series X and PS5 are both $500.

People here have to realize that communities online like n4g make up the smallest fraction of those who spend money on video games. We're already the type that know and care about the medium enough to check in on a gaming website every day. A couple years from now, a Series S for $250 or cheaper potentially, and a $10-15 a month Game Pass subscription will be very encticing to people. I prefer to have the better product, but it's a good option for people to have. A Series X, plus one ...

I will be getting a Series X at launch, but at $300, it can be more enticing for many. And when it drops to $250 or cheaper eventually, you can expect it to sell very well.

Lower resolution, but possibility of better texture filtering, loading times. Being able to switch between multiple games within seconds and having save states loaded immediately. These are some of the biggest quality of life improvements in the new consoles. You're playing a game, and a friend or family member sends an invite. You accept, and boom, you're loaded in and ready to go within a few seconds. Also, at $300, that's still cheaper than a regular Xbox One S and a PS4 Slim o...

Also a much better user experience than the 1X. The Series S may have lower specs on paper, but I would imagine it's much more efficient in how it uses its hardware. Completely different engineering than in the 1X. Also, SSD, ability to switch between and hold save states seamlessly between games, and running next gen games. There will be performance caveats, obviously, but we're talking about a $300 console that's still more advanced than any currently on the market. I'd make...

Well, might be in the minority. Many people wanting to be early adopters are probably already Xbox and PS4 owners. I think it's great that I can get upgrades on my large digital library. First thing I'll be doing is replaying Witcher 3 lol.

It's still a $300 console that's going to outperform the One X (aside from resolution; MS really needs to take a good long look at the naming confusion they're going to cause). If someone wants more performance and is in the market for an Xbox, they can buy the Series X.

MS and 343 are going to cash in on Craig the next time they show Infinite, I guarantee it.

Anyone doing remakes needs to be studying what Bluepoint and Vicarious are doing. Hard to want to purchase this after seeing what Vicarious accomplished on the Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake. Kickass game, by the way.

I'm very excited for it. Makes sense to have it a Musou game as well, because the story before the game was basically big ass war, everyone dies. Always fun to kow through thousands of enemies. Cherry on top if they tell the story well.

The story and the gameplay hopefully will compliment each other very well. There was a big war, now we get to play through it. Really, really good idea actually.

Not pointless at all. High sales and software attachment means publishers invest more money, meaning more games and higher quality ones for the console. Low price is always great.

Did not say I wouldn't buy a PS5, I most likely will, as well as an Xbox. I'm just saying, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. We've no clue what the gaming market will lead to this upcoming gen.

I'd wager that they're planning on releasing N64 and reworked Gamecube games on the online service at some point in the future (perhaps for Switch Pro/2), and don't want to have the games available for purchase, as to attract people to subscribe. We've seen this already, as Nintendo pulled some Wii U games from the eshop before the Switch versions released, like Pikmin 3 and DK: Tropical Freeze. Makes sense from business perspective, but not very consumer friendly.

Gamecube was much more powerful than the PS2.

But what if they do? What if these companies are either expecting the entire market to change, or are deciding to change it themselves?

With these new cards, and the possibility of both PS5 and Xbox releasing exclusives on PC now, why not build one over getting a new console if you can afford it? Sure, there's the convenience factor, but other than that, a console's strongest traits are the exclusives. I'm seriously considering saving and building a PC now after hearing the new card prices. Best performance, both systems' exclusives. Very, very enticing.
