That's technology for you. I'm a musician, I listen to music constantly, it is one of my passions. Why would I want to pay for thousands of albums when I can have Spotify Premium on my phone and have it all available to my instantly? It's convenient and saves me LOTS of money. I don't miss spending half my paycheck on CDs every week like when I did when I was 18 lol. Many people are going to feel the same way about gaming streaming services.
Considering that this gen will be mostly backwards compatible with the last, there's not really much to lose by trading in a console this time, unless someone is holding out for easy soft-mods in the future or something like that.
All hardware has a failure rate, and it's usually highest at launch, before revisions. It's going to happen to every console, graphics card, etc. The goal is to try to keep it as low as possible. Some people are going to have broken Series X and PS5 consoles out of the box at launch, or soon after. It sucks, but we roll the dice. Hopefully for those people, the respective companies make fixing their purchase as easy and quick as possible.
It seems pretty obvious that it's going to sell much greater than the Xbox One, during the first year at least. As long as MS is happy with sales, devs are happy with making games, and they sell well, then that's great. Doesn't have to outsell PS5 to be a success. Competition is good.
One that wears a mask most of the time, at that. Geez, people need to get a friggin' life.
I don't think tech is there for crazy innovation. Wait until VR becomes as commonly utilized as smart phones, and integrated with AI. That will be world changing.
There have been remasters since the Atari 7800, I believe. There were quite a few remasters on consoles like the SNES as well. GBA had tons of NES and Super NES games that were ported and updated for it. The practice has been around for decades.
I traded in my copy of Bayo 1+2 on Wii U to Gamestop for like, $40, and the guy working the counter said he wanted to hug me lol. Pretty much paid for BotW.
If you still own a Wii U, look into modding it. One of the best and easiest systems to do so with. Access to Wii U, Wii and Gamecube games, homebrew, emulation, etc.
It was obvious that Nintendo was going to port these games, given the abysmal sales of the Wii U. I enjoyed mine when I had it oringally, but saw the writing on the wall, and sold it for Switch funds on launch day.
I would like to see a Devil's Third rework though...the online in that game was like Ninja G...
If Skyward Sword gets a Switch release, that game needs a massive overhaul/remaster, not a simple port. Something with as much effort as the Wind Waker HD version. They need to cut out all the hand-holding, reduce some of the bloat, definitely retexture and add a new lighting system. Eliminate loading screens between mounting/dismounting the Loftwing. I could see, instead of motion controls, doing something like holding ZR and using the right joystick for directional sword swings. Skyward Swo...
Nature of batteries lol. They age.
To be fair, the OG Xbox WAS the future. New consoles are basically PCs, which Xbox started that. That, and Xbox Live changed gaming instantly and forever.
Also, the Series X is just a better product overall at launch than the Xbox One ever was.
The Xbox One got completely torn apart at launch, and they were crippled the entire gen because of it. Less powerful, kinect, higher price, always online announcement (which QUICKLY got scrapped after backlash). The Series X launch seems like night and day compared to its predecessor.
I would assume it's going to be a much different result coming from the hardware playing the game itself, opposed to on a TV.
Playing Monster Hunter World, just brute forcing it to 4K/60 fps, is still pretty beastly I think.
Sometimes, I get concerned for my PS4, with how loud and warm it gets lol. And yes, I do clean it.
Well, all the Halos on MCC haven't been released yet for the PC version, so yes, it can play Halo, and yes, there will be content you can't get on PC.
Just get a 3070 or 3080 then, those cards are still beasts lol. The 3090 is just, almost unnecessary at this point, unless you're an enthusiast with money to blow.
Theoretically, you could probably have a partitioned (or separate) SSD with specific software to recreate this function, but I'm doubtful it will come about unless consumers begin to ask for it.
Part of the strategy in raising prices is to convince people to move to said service platforms instead.
