By the time Skyward Sword released, about 97 million of those Wiis were collecting dust in an attic somewhere. Others pirated it, due to easy modding of the Wii. A very high percentage of Wii owners bought it as a family party toy, and not a game console, which is a bit of a shame, because there were some absolute gems hidden within all the shovelware.

Skyward Sword was an amazing game though...
I thought the way the motion controls were implemented in that game were a revolution in game design. I can understand how some people couldn't get past it though.

Yeah, really cool to emulate and pirate brand new software. Won't affect anyone's livelihood at all. /s

I am using mine right now near most of those things. Haven't had any problems yet. I understand that hardware failure is a possibility, with the chance being much higher with any launch hardware. Hopefully Nintendo will take care of anyone having issues. If not, that's what your Attorney General and class action lawsuits are for. Microsoft had to learn the hard way.

To be fair, there are quite a few fantastic Wii U games that most gamers have not played, that deserve a chance again on the Switch. That's one of the reasons I sold my Wii U to a friend; I was banking on that I'd be able to play many of them again.

I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a Wii U for cheap, if it's available. There are some fantastic games on the system that were released. Looking forward though, you're not going to be getting anything new. People are buying the Switch and looking forward to what games they'll be playing in the future, and putting their faith that Nintendo will fully support the system with software.

I'll be 30 in a few months, and I've been playing video games since I was 3 or 4, my entire life. That being said, BotW is hands down one of, if not the best video game I've ever played out of the thousands that I have.

One part of it could be, that perhaps Nintendo simply doesn't want to invest that much time and money into a game making graphics that great. It's a huge risk and investment for any studio to do. Game development gets more and more expensive every year, and yet we're still paying the same amount for games we did back in the SNES/Sega era. Even less now, when you think about it, due to inflation.

I honestly can't even get to a place when I have my sights set on it in this game, because there is literally too much stuff to do in between. I'll want to go one particular location, and end up miles away two hours later. There is loads to do in the game.

Because other than the Wii U, people have been buying the hell out of their hardware for the last ten years? I believe the 3ds has sold over 60 million. The DS and Wii, over 100 million if I remember correctly. The Switch, so far, is off to a great start, with seemingly lots of consumer interest.

Witcher 3's performance was much worse in almost every regard on consoles. I'd watch it drop to single digits occasionally, but it didn't stop me from loving the game entirely. I've been playing the hell out of BotW every chance I get (I've been working like crazy), and the frame drops are not really bad at all compared to other open world games I've played. I've also encountered zero glitches. This game was crafted very meticulously.

I think IGN actually got a bricked Xbox for review lol. A few companies did. You figure, almost every computer has a 5 percent failure rate or higher. Individual components are less, but these devices have many. So, for every million units sold, you have 50,000 people who receieve faulty products. It sucks, but that's deemed normal by the industry. A good company takes care of their customers who receive these.

Someone has to buy the first wave of hardware for any product, right? Otherwise there would be no further iterations. We go through this with almost every console launch. The Xbox One failure rates were pretty high. Most notebooks have a failure rate of over 15 percent within the first year. These are acceptable industry standards. Whether we, the consumer should deem them acceptable is another matter altogether. The proper thing to do when selling a product to a consumer which had problems i...

Glass breaks. Plastic scratches. Nintendo should have installed a screen protector with the product or put something soft inside the dock, or designed it differently. I ordered tempered glass screen protectors immediately after hearing about this.

I use studio headphones when playing portable, and it sounds amazing.

I don't even use the grip. Lounging back and having one in each hand is surprisingly comfortable.

Great that a new IP is number one. Given the install base, however, I wouldn't expect Zelda to be beating much of anything at the moment. I've played both. Horizon is a fantastic game, no doubt. In my opinion though, so far, BotW so far is the greatest game I've ever played in my 30 years on this blue rock.

As of now, I'd say it's beating out Xenoblade Chronices for greatest game I've ever played. To me, it's unbelievably good. It may not be perfect, but there's a good chance this game is the closest any has ever come.
