They decided they wanted to go with a mobile device. That's what they wanted to do. Some people will take interest and purchase it, some don't like handheld gaming and will stick to their home consoles. It's as simple as that. As far as power is concerned though, the battery and cooling technology simply doesn't exist to create absurdly powerful handhelds. Remember all those phones that exploded recently?
God, the 360 dpad was awful...
Truth. Nintendo has been deviating from the industry standard since the N64. It must be working for them though, since that's been there business model for over 20 years now.
You definitely have a point. The PC in a box nature of consoles these days was a completely new and odd idea when Xbox first arrived on the scene. Before Halo, no one had treated first person shooters as a respectful or viable console genre. That space was always reserved for PCs. The PS2 and Gamecube definitely weren't running PC ports like Morrowind, KOTOR or Doom 3 back then either. Microsoft set a new standard by giving Western PC developers a space to create their games in a console ...
They were both great consoles. That console generation was all around amazing, and it was actually worth it to own all three.
Although the Gamecube wasn't really a traditional console either in some ways. A very capable machine, yes, but using mini discs set it apart. It made piracy much more difficult, but again, like the N64, demanded higher production costs and held less space than its competition. Most importantly, it didn't play DVDs, which is just one of the reasons why the PS2 was such an incredible console. It was pretty much the first DVD player most people ever had. The Gamecube had some of my favo...
I wish you the best man. Much health and a life full of happiness.
It was really tasteless for you to attack someone and post an opinion of yours that no one really gives a fuck about in a comment section giving tribute to a fellow gamer who died after fighting a lifelong disease. Very poor form. Trolling or not, I'm sure your parents would be disappointed in you.
Gamers that don't love Zelda have no idea how much it means to some of us. RIP Mr. Marcelo.
Skyward Sword was a brilliant game which unfortunately many haven't had the chance to play.
IGN Zelda home console review scores since Ocarina of Time:
Ocarina of Time - 10
Majora's Mask - 9.9
Wind Waker - 9.6
Twilight Princess - 9.5
Skyward Sword - 10
Wind Waker HD - 9.8
Twilight Princess HD - 8.6
IGN adores Zelda lol.
I truly hope in my heart that this will be one of the greatest games ever made.
You could say the same think about Microsoft and Halo. Wouldn't that make more sense for them to release on PS4 too? :P
Back then, the Japanese market was the king of game sales. Sony has adopted a Western sales philosophy, because there are much bigger markets outside of Japan. Nintendo seems to want to stick with selling to their home market first and foremost. Our cultures are much different.

6 Zelda games on this list. Like it or not, they have widely been considered some of the greatest and most innovative video games ever created.
I think it depends on how well it sells. If it sells great and has good software purchases, I'd imagine a gradual easing out of 3DS support, or releasing games on both systems. The 3DS obviously can't run AAA console multiplat games, but still has plenty of 1st and 3rd part support. It also was overpriced and sold poorly at first as well until a price drop. If consumers want the product, and spend money on games for it, developers will want to make games for the platform.
Word. Personally, I'm not a fan of PS4 controllers, it's online systems or UI.
To be fair I played about 25 hours worth of Gamecube in the last week xD
I hear ya. I own over 500 video games, and for the last week all I've been playing is Gamecube...
And others like myself play handhelds like their 3DS or Vita quite often. It's been a viable and popular market since the Gameboy.
